Here's a scenario with terrain I hope to use in my games sometime. The (slightly modified) miniature and the pedestal (actually a base for a different miniature) are from Reaper. I built the shrine with wood and cardboard.

I wonder whether Andersen was mocking the upper class or engaging in self-parody.  His specialty after all, was writing girls who endured horrible torture (frequently leading up to their death) and then there's this impossibly delicate princess who can't sleep due to a degree of discomfort so slight as being impossible for a human to detect.  Then again he could have just objected on "suffering is virtuous" grounds to the original version of the story where the "princess" actually is an imposter, but a kind one who manages to find allies who give her the answers to the queen's tests.

Here's the other favorite hangout of Pulp RPG characters--the bar.

The best literature example might be Tolkien’s Fellowship of the Ring. Gandalf and Aragorn on one end of the scale and Frodo and the other hobbits on the opposite end.

However, I think it could be said that the top end in power characters didn’t seem to gain as many XPs over the course of the campaign as the four hobbits did. Sam and Frodo both showed quite a bit of growth. Aragorn seemed to be mainly gaining perks along his storyline. And Gandalf didn’t seem to be more powerful, but more like he had his restraints removed.
 
Maybe not quite pointless, but fantasy seems to favor growth in power and ability more than superheroes seem to emphasize. Peter Parker hasn’t seemed to change a lot in his powers from when he was a teenager, but Frodo and Bilbo both changed in their abilities over the course of their heroic journeys.

Oy, that one is simple. Take one old man, put him in mismatched piece's of armor, seat him on a bedraggled charger with a chubby MPC companion riding a donkey. Voila!

I'm really glad Joe Biden and other Democrats have finally taken the gloves off in public against the Republicans. Taking the high road was never going to win for them when their opponents have been wallowing in the mud for years.
