  1. Hello everyone! I had some questions I was hoping to get some help with. Some friends and I have just started playing the Fantasy Hero game but are not newbies, we have been playing the Champions version for some time. We wanted this to be an even more in-depth playing experience this time around, and as such we wanted to get more props and things for our board to deepen the experience. Currently we play on one of those giant 1" hex grid mats, and we normally use dry erase markers to draw everything out... however, this is a little on the lame side. We wanted to start using props and more realistic looking items to better the experience. We wanted to buy (or make!) trees and mountains and houses and etc etc etc. On to the question: What experience do you guys have in either purchasing materials or pre-made stuff that would help us out? We recently visited a few hobby shops and just for a bag of trees from the Warhammer set, it was like 35 dollars. I don't think I want to pay that much for just trees. We are open to making our own props but we would need some kind of direction. On a side note, we may also attempt making markers of some kind for things like: summoned minions, weakened defenses, entangled enemies etc. We were thinking of using different colored paper and laminating it so they can have numbers and things drawn on them and placed under the units they effect. Any helpful tips on this front as well if you have them? Perhaps a better way that we didn't think of? Anyway, sorry for the long post. Hopefully you can point us in some kind of direction. Thanks!
  2. Re: New character build questions Hey guys, thanks for the help thus far. I have a character going and am pretty happy with it so far. I went with the multiform power, and it works quite nicely. This question is actually for a specific function of the suit itself: I want to build a power that is basically a suppressing fire type of thing. Imagine two miniguns just spraying lead over an area in a effort to make sure no one tries to run through it. I am calling the power "Lead shower". Here is my question though... I want to build this power as a prevention measure, not necessarily as huge damage numbers. I certainly want to punish people for walking through an area that would be under the "lead shower", but not necessarily just damage. I was thinking that it would be maybe.. blast with autofire x5 and sustained for multiple segments (or an entire phase!) but I wanted to add something else to it as a deterrent for people walking through it. I know that a lot of hero characters I will be fighting can just take the damage and walk it off, so I was hoping for a suggestion as to maybe an alternate power effect link that would be both stylistically and functionally appropriate. Sorry that was so long, but any ideas?
  3. Re: New character build questions Wow thank you guys so much! It hasn't even been 4 hours and already you have provided extremely useful help. This is exactly what I need. Please, if anyone else has anything to add it is more than welcomed!
  4. Hello everyone, I have only posted here once before and I got amaaaazing help and response from the community so here I am once again with another burning question. I have had a chance to play with the System quite a bit now and am more familiar with it, but still have a number of questions. Anyway, we are starting a new game and I had a few "ideas" for a character that I want to build, but unable to put anything onto paper without some general direction. If you could give me thoughts on how you might do the following things, I believe I would be able to handle the specifics of limitations and advantages as well as the flavor of the powers etc. Hopefully this made sense... Here are the ideas for villains I had, hopefully you guys can shed some light for me: 1) Someone who uses a suit of armor, much like a mech or gundam suit but muuuch smaller. Possibly only 2 or 3 times the size of a person. My biggest question about this is how do you define a suit of armor with all the trimmings (guns, rockets, grenades) as a power? 2) Someone who is followed around by unluckyness and dispair. Everything goes wrong around him at all times. Powers will more than likely fail if you stand too close etc. 3) Finally the last guy I had in mind, would be someone who has no inherent "damaging" powers of his own, except the ability to clone himself a number of times and have those clones fight other people... however, I wanted the clones to steal the power of the people they were fighting so it was like the person was fighting a mirror image of them self. I hope this is not asking too much all in one topic. Again, if you could just give me any sort of direction here on any or all of these I would be most appreciative. I am still a Hero newb, as it were. Thanks in advance!
  5. I have a question concerning portals, and a what-if type scenario. What happens if a portal is opened beneath an enemy (or friend) and the second portal was placed above the first causing a never ending fall? The person would eventually reach terminal velocity, but what maneuver if any could they use to escape this?
