  1. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel The Old Gambler He's not that old. Late forties or Early fifties. He's fairly handsome, with greying dark hair and is clean shaven. He may be Causican or Chinese, as you want. He is normally dressed in what was once a very good suit (he has several), but is now rather worn. He doesn't seem to have a job and, if asked, says he is living off his savings. He occasionally buys a set of playing cards and plays with them. His card handling skills are amazing; The cards seem to dance in his hands. After shuffling, he deals himself a hand of cards (either two or five cards), looks at it, sighs and shuffles again. He does this for a while, getting more and more depressed, then throws the cards in a bin and goes to the bar and starts drinking steadily. If anyone looks to see what cards he's drawn, the five cards are always a royal straight flush. The two cards are always an Ace and a ten or face card.
  2. Re: [Worst Ever...] Reasons to be a superhero It's good advertising for my dominatrix buisiness. My dubious mentor (who turned out to be working for Demon) suggested I join the local hero team. When you look like a monster, being able to play the "angsty hero of the night" card is a good way to avoid the lynch mob. Because I can meet hot chicks and, like, everyone will think I'm cool and I get to save the world and be famous and stuff . . .
  3. Re: WWYCD: Mirror Universe Raven would say "screw it" and steal what she needs, although her teammates would probably object. Based on reversing her Psych Lims, her evil twin would mix self righteousness and sadism in a really nasty way. Raven would probably attempt to kill her if they met. The Gentleman would beat down the dishonorable cur.
  4. Re: How would Stronghold imprison your character? Unless they can create magical dead areas, Raven and Mystic Miss would be very difficult to contain. you'd need teleport blockers, dimensional locks, affects desolid walls, no gaps a small animal could get through . . . The Gentleman would need very strong walls and door. He's a fairly standard flying brick. Ruby (mostly a brick) keeps most of her minor psychic powers secret for the suprise value. In theory you could keep Sandy in a normal cell. Given her Ninja skills, you'd have to be very very careful.
  5. Re: You Are President! The only one of my characters who'd qualify for President looks like she's ten years old (and has since the 30's). It would be a bit tricky. She's highly intelligent and strong willed, but is way too reclusive and borderline anti-social to be a good leader. (Heck, she lives alone except for golem servents.) She'd be very suspicious of what's going on. Her primary suspect would be Dr. Wu (both hunted and contact - just because you occasionally have to mess with someone's plans, there's no need to be rude).
  6. Re: The Deconstructing of Wynnie Wonder Raven would interfere. She's of the rough borderline anti-hero type, but would really hate the idea of being forced to be something you're not by some controlling assh*le. However, she's unlikely to think things through properly or consider the legal position. Ruby, unless you push her buttons, is a rather old fashioned hero and would try to do the right thing and help her. Basically, all of my characters would help her, for one reason or the other.
  7. Re: Death of the Jester None of my characters would object to somebody killing the Jester. He is a mass murderer many times over who would have been SECURELY locked up or executed by any competent justice system and none of them have full CvKs. Several of them would be inclined to investigate to check whether the situation is on the up-and-up, though.
  8. Re: Power down day There were some problems with this for our campaign. In an earlier case, the GM defined powers as attributes above 20 and anything from the power list that wasn't a mundane gadget. The problem was that Raven was a fairly skinny teenaged girl - with 20 strength. Among other things, she wasn't completely human (and no, I wasn't familiar with the Teen Titans character when I created her). Largely "depowered", she was still a skinny teenaged girl - with 20 strength.
  9. Re: Power down day Raven. This actually happened in her world at the end of the campaign (a rather drastic way of preventing Demon from conquering the world). She ended up moving to another dimension. She'd been a street kid before learning magic and didn't want to go back there. The Gentleman would go back to his normal life with some relief. Ms. Mystic wouldn't be terribly worried. In her cosmology shutting down magic would be the hard way of making the universe blip out of existence. She may investigate as the symbolism of this guy is quite interesting, though.
  10. Re: Super tech effects on the world at large. My idea for this (if i ever end up running a campaign (which will have to include a frozen hell)), is that all supertech depends on "singularities" what one irritated scientist called "crystallised holes in the laws of physics". They're easy to make, and backyard tinkerer can do so. However, you can't do so reliably. You never know what each one will do. The genius part comes in when you can find a use for each one. Luckily, ones that would be truly destructive will destroy themselves before doing significant damage. The ones that are really valuable are the ones you can use to run a major power plant off to generate effectively free, non-polluting energy. . . . except for the security costs, which can be significant.
  11. Re: WWYCD: Red Garden The problem with this is that the description fails to capture the full messed upness of the show. 1) The girls are not physically or mentally remotely up to the task. 2) They are the walking dead. 3) The transformed guy is a more-or-less innocent victim of a curse. 4) The girls have to beat him to death with their bare hands. Or a baseball bat. 5) Or die. It's only superficially a superhero story.

  13. I've been thinking about how to build a spell called "Dread Word", it's primarily a RKA w. incantations. However, I'd also like to make using it an automatic presence attack. A quick check indicated that a presence attack is a zero phase action. Does that make this a special effect, not costing any points?
  14. Re: WWYCD:Little Girl Lost The Gentleman - British aristocrat in a just pre WWII campaign would of course seek to return the girl to her family. It wouldn't occur to him that she would be happy living among a primitive tribe. Raven - would tell her about the options, let her decide. Mary Mystique - would also tell her about the options and help introduce her to her family. However, she is rather cynical about the chances of this girl being happy with other children in the modern world. (OTOH, she isn't a great believer in nobel savages and the wonders of living close to nature.) If possible, she'd see if she could build a teleportation gate so she could travel back and forth.
  15. I ran into the following article, any thoughts? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050527/ap_on_fe_st/grinch_arrested;_ylt=AowwNVEAPRF.htFQji0uc57tiBIF;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl http://tinyurl.com/dqwe3 Man Arrested for Wearing Grinch Mask Thu May 26,10:01 PM ET WHEELING, W.Va. - City and county attorneys are defending Wheeling police who arrested a man for wearing a Grinch mask while walking along a city street. ADVERTISEMENT Norman Eugene Gray, 42, was arrested Tuesday. He was arraigned and released on a personal recognizance bond. Officers saw Gray about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, told him to take the mask off and not put it on again. Gray removed it and asked why he could not wear it, according to Wheeling police reports. Officers told him wearing masks in public is illegal. Gray said he felt he had a right to wear it and said it was not illegal. He put the mask back on and was arrested. The mask was confiscated. Wheeling City Solicitor Rosemary Humway-Warmuth and Ohio County Prosecutor Scott Smith said masks as well as dark window tinting in vehicles can pose a safety hazard to law enforcement officers and hinder efforts to identify criminal suspects. "When we think about masks, we don't always think of Halloween," Humway-Warmuth said. Smith said wearing a mask or hood in public is a misdemeanor under state law, punishable by a fine of up to $500 or up to a year in jail, or both. Children up to 16 years old can wear masks. Traditional Halloween masks, safety gear used in occupations, theatrical productions, civil defense or protection from bad weather also are legal. ___
