  1. In creating a fantasy setting, I decided that all magical power has a cost. For mortals, of course this comes through a number of channels - the gods, demons, elemental lords, or hard work for lesser (compared to other disciplines) power. But for other worldly powers, the power comes directly from souls. The demons get their souls from corrupting humanity into damnation. The Elemental Lords (who are more primordial and might be the creators of the universe) proffer elemental magic in return for eternal servitude in wars against other lords. The gods are other entities who have gathered into pantheons (with false origin stories) to share souls from worshipers. And while many gods were angels prior to hatching this private pool theory, I have no idea what the role of angels are in this cosmology. Does anyone have any ideas how I could solve this conundrum? Because I really want angels to be movers and shakers (as both allies and antagonists), but feel that I've pushed them out of any tangible role in this cosmology.
  2. What if Captain Chronos is Adrian Vandeleur from the future? The reasoning: Chronos is in the past to fix something that goes wrong in the future. What if that catastrophe is the elimination of magic in the Champions Universe? Adrian Vandeleur has two plot seeds wherein he plays a similar role - Censor (where he keeps major magical powers from interfering in makind's destiny) and Gamester (possibly playing both sides to toughen humanity to face extra-dimensional threats). If his wrong choice caused the elimination of magic, but without sacrificing his immortality, he would learn technology to get a second chance. And, it plays a genre convention of two time-shifted individuals playing against each other for one reason or another.
  3. How about Teleportation Usable Against Other? The special effect of being thrown and then landing safely at a distance from the thrower.
  4. How about a more esoteric energy - like radiation or seismic energy or maybe even something like light/sound conversion. I'm sure we've all seen the basic energies being done numerous times.
  5. Card Shark and his organization showed up in Hudson City: The Urban Abyss.
  6. Re: organizations There are also The Trimestigus Council and the Circle of the Scarlet Moon. Opposing groups of normal occultists (power-level wise) trying to play people chess to determine the fate of the world.
  7. Re: Welcome to the Silver Screen Revenant's backstory as a 'normal' crime-fighter would be dramatized and made more awesome before his death during the alien invasion; they'd probably cut his first origin entirely. He'd probably be portrayed as more of a crime-fighter than he has become - and omit his years of violence free community outreach. Unless it was a movie for his entire team, they'd probably cut the possession of his team-mate to hurt a Horseman of the Apocalypse. And if the Spider-Man movies are any indication, he'd probably lose the ability to see the amount of time someone has left to live. And his secret identity would probably be studying to be a doctor and not a nurse.
  8. Re: Who are The Ultimates? After perusing this thread, thanks everyone, I decided that my Ultimates will be the science villains you described. I was looking into Frightful Four and the recent Hulk enemies - the Intelligencia. Unfortunately, I'm at a loss for sufficient plots. The best I can come up with is: The Ultimates hijack a US nuclear submarine (my campaign is set in a combination of Baltimore, MD, Norfolk, VA, and Hudson City [although the first and that last are quite similar already]) in order to build upon it to take on and capture the Aegir, UNTIL's sub. After doing so (really just to satisfy Binder's personal dislike of UNTIL) they then plan on taking their new vessel on to the floor of the Atlantic Ocean in order to set a density-increasing Doomsday device in the water which will spread and disrupt Western maritime trading unless their ransom is paid.
  9. Re: Existing Character Write Ups Surbrook's stuff has a large amount of characters, superhero and otherwise. Most of the characters are in fifth, but I know thAt there are a least 6e write-ups of Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes in the animated section.
  10. The Ultimates as presented in CKC seem to be a very well put together team. But most of their seeds suppose an existing relationship between the PCs and the villains. What do The Ultimates do as a team? What do they want? Eurostar are terrorists. The Crimelords are the mercenary team. GRAB are thieves. Where does Binder want the team to go?
  11. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... Thanks for all the advice - however, after running the numbers (really should've done that first) I found that Grond will quickly trounce the heroes. Only by leaving his mental problems stay do they even have a chance of beating him (especially with the Find Weakness martial artist being absent). So, I'm going to rearrange my plans for the campaign and Grond will be used at a later time, specifically a session after the group handles a foe that Starlet would be less effective. I especially liked the idea of a VIPER clutch agent playing wall and the different ways to read different emotions. Now to find a different patsy....

Re: Outside the Box powers Speaking of flashes: Distracted by the Sexy: Mental and Sight group flash, BOECV - md applies, only works if the target can perceive something he is sexually attracted. flavor the empath increases a targets lust to the point where the target can not focus on anything else
