  1. Here's a simple sketch. It's my take on Death Commando from the Deathstroke module back in 1983. ( I don't know if the character belongs to Bruce Harlick or Kevin Dinapoli)...anyway, my take, a reoccurring villian and major motivator for one of my original characters (Nightstalker/Templar)...not to infringe on copyrights...instead of Death Commando, it was Death Stalker (and the armor stolen was a prototype of the Nightstalker armor) Here goes...
  2. Why? Because I can, that's why...lol
  3. I have a character, Task. He's a gadgeteer, with abilities very similar to those found in Tron: Legacy. I thought of a power, to isolate individual combatants...sort of a virtual reality. It's not a full-blown cyber world, etc...I didn't want that, but can it be done, to isolate a combatant, to only "fight" him. I would assume the VR component would just be special effect, but not sure how to go about constructing something like this. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Thanks for the feedback. The first is a colored pencil drawing. While it looks great in person, the transition to electronic media dulls the "prismacolor"...similarly, the digital color loses it's sharpness when printed onto paper. I do like the digital coloring, now that I'm gaining more proficiency with it, but as I look at other artist's renderings, I'm left with questions on how long it takes them, as compared to me, and what level of detail are they looking for? (To me, mine seems far more textured...I'm no professional, but I wonder how the pro's get their depth and lighting effects...most of mine simply comes from my imagination...what I think it should look like.) I also wonder what tools other artists use. I draw the "blank" line drawing, scan it, then using a 10 year old graphics program and a trackball, go to work...
  5. Sorry, shameless post to hopefully garner some interest and consideration of my latest drawing...(previously edited post #4235, that didn't post with the new date, since it's an edit and not "new" post. I would appreciate the feedback.

    Turtle Armor

The original, brought to you by DanCo...
  7. Here's my lastest re-color. I dug out my old copy of Paint Shop Pro 9. Because of the scan, it had a ton of shadows, and needed a lot of work, but I used that time to reacquaint myself with PSP9. Let me know what you think, here's Badger (prismacolor) and Badger (PSP)...EDIT...I kept looking at the PSP pic and liked it, but the lack of shading in the white areas bugged me...OCD and all. So I made some adjustments...better, or worse?
  8. Here's my first complete image done with computer graphics/coloring. I used the 'blank' scan of Templar, and colored it using Manga Studio Debut 4.0. Neat program for making comics, and a decent rastor-based graphics. I'll put the two finished pics, the 1st from Prismacolors, and the 2nd computer colored. Here goes, let me know what you think.
  9. Nah...alien tech and bioware...he's a long lived human, with peak human abilities...but nothing superhuman...that's what the armor's for...lol
  10. Life has been...complicated lately...not much time to do things, but I had an old picture of Nightstalker, (my first Champions hero) that my granddaughter took an interest in...so I drew an updated version of him, in line with my Knights Templar theme. The Nightstalker mantle was passed on during game play with Johnathon Templar becoming an NPC...but I always liked the character. So, he's "back" as the leader of the Knights Templar...and renamed aptly...Templar. I managed to keep numerous elements of the original armor in the new design, although this one is far more bulked up, and in effect, "Space Armor"...but that's deliberate with the amalgamation of modern and alien tech, with steampunk, etc. for the campaign tone. He retains all of his original toys, although in somewhat revised fashion. A favorite was grenades...now they're micro-grenades, housed and launched from his gauntlets...and others I could go into, but won't since this post is already too long. He's a galactic level hero. The pic is simple pencil and ink, and colored with Berol Prismacolor pencils. Went for an alien texture on the "blue" pieces, sort of like the organic armor of the Vorlons from Babylon 5. Here goes:
  11. Here's the next digital edit of Sunder...again, minor changes, still don't like the light highlights on the chest, but I'm learning the program.
  12. Here's something. I picked up a program, Manga Studio Debut 4 (it's about 6 years old or so)...anyway, I started tweeking a few pics. Here's the first comparison...only minor changes so far, still learning the program. Kestrel (from my earlier post), with an update.
  13. Who, my friends, or the trolls? lol (The troll doll villain sounds like a cool idea...I'll have to look into that)
  14. Here's the latest addition for the Knights Templar: SUNDER. I did this one a bit different, I found a 36 color gel ink set at the dollar store...so I tried to see what I could do with them. The pic was quite large on a piece of bristol board, so I had to scan like four angles and rotate, cut and paste the pic together. Turned out alright...a few light distortions. Here goes:
  15. Here's my next submission for my Knights Templar. The original character was "XS", as in "excess", speed, looks, bra size, etc... A bit too cheesy, and basically an NPC, I only used her a few times, but did many combat simulations with this character, when trying to refine archetypes. I was recently watching "The Batman", and I've always liked that version of the Catwoman costume. So to fill the "speedster" slot for the Knights, I created Cheetah. She's got a mystical component, (connection to Bast, 9 lives, etc.)...and also the costume has certain technological enhancements as well. A very dexterous, very fast sprinter, who almost never gets hit. Here's the line drawing and the colored finish. Done with pencil and Berol Prismicolor.
  16. Here's the next revamped uniform for my "Knights Templar"...the leader's last name is Templar...I know it's not terribly original, but it works. Anyway here's the next character, Badger...actually 30 years now since I first played him. (Wolverine knock-off)...his skeleton was infused with Promethium (DC alloy...the harder you hit it, the harder it gets)...at this point, he's a galactic level hero.
  17. I created a Hulk-like character, with a standard 60 STR, then a max. of 300, with 20 pt. intervals, increasing per each of his phases, and reducing the same. Much simpler construct than the aid, and had a gradiation free of the enraged. I think I "limited" the STR increase with a -1/4 lim.
  18. WCW...nice... The six armed "cross" is actually a function of the armor...like slots in a MP...variations of EB, etc. Also notice the "notch" in the shield...I didn't want a "unibeam"...so I came up with this...the sword 'plugs' into the shield, the combined power, etc., creates the mega-beam effect (as well as requiring 2 hands).
  19. I drew this about a month ago...rehashing the process over and over...this was originally "Steelfist"...Ironman knockoff that I used a few times...tons of power, just never got the feel for the character, so he became a very useful NPC. I wanted to redesign him, and my current concept for my own world involves a variety of themes, such as magic, steampunk, and alien tech...so I redesigned him as "Ironforge" with a steampunk concept...except now I look at him and think..."I gave a schizophrenic an American Express Black card, and set him loose in a 1930's government supply depot..." I like the design, but I'm not settled on it...he's in the 9' range, but I'm thinking of redesigning again, making him more like a Titanfall mech...or the Veronica Hulkbuster...tell me what you think... (his current colors are going to be metallic, bronzes, copper, steel gray and black were applicable)
  20. I think that is Hero's greatest strength, and to a point, weakness...for the beginning player, the galaxy is the limit, but it requires the hand of a Watcher or greater powered GM to rein in the entropy and chaos... "With great power comes great responsibility"...and playability
  21. I would agree, but they are valuable resources for continued play. My first group, and Nightstalker, started with the original Island of Dr. Destroyer. Ultimately, we took the base, resources etc., and it spawned countless things after (with the help of a good GM of course)
  22. LOL, it's funny you mention that...I was out to dinner with my family, and specifically my granddaughter, and we were coloring together. My son looked at the pic, and laughed..."Who colors with crayon in 3-D?"
  23. Thanks Scott Baker for the instructions. I haven't drawn in about 2 years...man the time flies when you have grand and foster kids, lol...anyway, I uncovered a 20 year old pic of a character of mine, Kestrel. I wanted to update the theme, colors, etc. Let me know what you think. (I'm considering compiling my "world", sort of a personal themed kickstarter...) Kestrel was the first character that sparked my interest in the idea. Here's the original pic, the updated, side by side. All hand drawn, colored with Berol Prismacolor.
