  1. It doesn't have to be "stored securely", as it is a small item the character has with her - small, but very important. Should it be removed from her (pick pocket, combat grab, whatever), she becomes virtually powerless. For the purposes of her other powers it is *treated* as a OAF, but it itself has no powers in it. I was thinking of a triggered power (a spell) to retrieve a wand stolen from me, so I wouldn't be rendered helpless for the rest of the combat - or until returning to town/base. The 'focus' can still be grabbed and broken, and just grabbing it would still prevent her from casting until she retrieved it - so still an OAF in my mind.
  2. This is for a Fantasy Hero game. Questions: 1) Can you designate a Fixed Location as a small object? Not buying it as a Focus, because of Fantasy Hero game with money. It's an object in it's own right. 2) If so, can a UAA Teleportation power that is within range and not blocked by the UAA cutoffs or Teleport impediments, teleport that object *to me* without seeing it? I'm thinking of some sort of a "Quickdraw" ability (magical/supernatural), or an "Item retrieval" ability that can function across a short distance (10m or less - that I would buy the Teleport distance to)... Stretching wouldn't be able to retrieve the object from inside a chest, I presume?
  3. Though for 'complete' coverage the character would need this (and be resistant) for PD, ED, and Power Defense at a minimum IMO. I would think the more streamlined way would be to use extra CON, as no matter what defense it goes through (Blast, AVAD - Sight Group Flash Def), or even no defense with NNDs, because CON is the single deciding factor - the "point of convergence"?
  4. Is the palindromedary still around these parts?
  5. Hi Steve, In regards to the Trigger advantage (specifically as used in the "Instant Change" power build in 6e1, p307, sidebar) what condition(s) would not be suitable? It is my current (and possibly incorrect) understanding that it can be basically "Whenever I Want To Change Costumes" (though limited by the rules for Zero-Phase Actions). Also, is the PER Roll to spot a Trigger usually waived for dramatic effect for this use? It'd be a bad disguise if people could detect the Instant Change ability of Superman.
  6. An interesting take on the problem. Though to function like an "umbrella" (i.e., covering more than just the character's person), wouldn't it also need "Protects Carried Items"? And to protect against the rain/snow/sleet from actually contacting the body would it not need Impermeable as well?
  7. I thought a Skill Level that applied to "All CHAR-based Rolls" like all DEX-based Rolls was 5 points?
  8. Though one would have to buy it three times to avoid having any "holes" in the coverage - one for PD, one for ED, and one for Mental, correct?
  9. If I make a power with Damage Over Time with a long time between increments (say, 1 hour; -2 value), and apply the Target's defenses only apply once (x2) modifier, I presume it is not a -4 modifier at that point and should instead be a -1? Note this is referring to just the interaction of TDOAO and Increments of longer than every turn.
  10. Try asking this guy - he specializes in old hardware/games (and has even written a new game for old hardware). https://www.facebook.com/the8bitguy/ https://www.youtube.com/user/adric22

  12. 6e. What is a good ballpark value for the Limitation "Only To Avoid Becoming Stunned" to be applied to an extra purchase of CON? For example, an 18 CON character and low-ish defenses wants to be able to avoid becoming Stunned, so buys +5 CON; Only To Avoid Becoming Stunned(-?). In 6e, would it be a -3/4, -1/2, or -1? If this is already listed in a book, please give the reference to it. Thanks all!
  13. Thanks to everybody who contributed. :) My GM went with: Change Environment (Precipitation [rain, sleet, hail, snow] To No Precipitation: 1 pt Telekinesis STR) (5 BP); Area Of Effect(1m Radius; +¼) (6 AP); No Range(-½) Which, with the other spell-general Limitations made it cost 2 pts. My other consideration was: 3 TK 2 STR; Affects Porous (13 BP); AoE(1m Radius; +¼) (16 AP); No Range(-½), Only To Deflect Precipitation [rain, sleet, hail, snow](-2)
  14. This is for 6e. Would this be a valid build for the effect I want? Is there something cheaper that I'm not aware of? Umbrella: Barrier (2m x 2m x ½m, 0 BODY, 2 PD/0 ED), Non Anchored (18 BP); Mobile(+¼), Dismissible(+¼) (27 AP); Restricted Shape("Umbrella" Above The Target; -¼), No Range(-½), Only Vs Effects From Weather (Rain, Hail, Sleet, Snow; -1) I'm wanting a spell that shields the caster from mundane weather effects (rain, sleet, snow, hail), where the effect can be ended consciously, and doesn't impede moving through doorways or other narrow passages. Thanks!
  15. Hugh and Gnome, you both make good points that my non-braining brain failed to realize. :)
  16. I would presume a Buyoff would cost END, the same as a Naked Advantage does?
  17. I am a little confused as to what options to use from the Linked Table (6e1, p385). A character has Resistant Protection (SFX is a self-sustaining 'Force Field' - i.e., no END cost, and is still Persistent). The character wishes to buy some Life Support (safe environs) that are Linked to the Resistant Protection (since it is the 'Force Field' that is granting the protection). The Life Support has lower Active Points than the Resistant Protection. Would the Linked limitation on the Life Support be -½, -¼, or even -0? Forex, do I apply the -¼ reduction because I don't want/need the "proportionality" that comes with Linked? Do I apply the -¼ reduction because the Resistant Protection would be "in use most of the time"?
  18. You are conflating/confusing "range" with "number of targets". As you interpret would not fly in any game I can think of, as it would be a *massive* loophole.
  19. I am being purposefully non-disclosing because my GM and at lease some fellow players also are members here. So, sorry to disappoint.
  20. Not without a butt-load of Limitations (or some loophole I am unaware of). Though I am presuming you mean the power could be granted to ~7.5 billion people with one action - that's a heck of a large UOO advantage to achieve that.
  21. I should mention that adding AOE to a UOO power does not increase the number of people that can use it - that is controlled by the UOO Advantage. Though that is irrelevant to my desires for this power - my build is intended to be single-target. AFAIK it should not matter what power was being granted, be it Mental Awareness, Resistant Protection, Flight, Regeneration, etc.
