  1. Say that a character is under the influence of an adjusment power (either positive or negative), and is also at SPD 0. Since he doesn't get any recoveries (even the PF12), does that mean that the adjustment effects don't fade or return also?
  2. If a charcter buys Speed with a Limitation that limits how it can be used (not when), how do I intergrate it into the character's regular Speed & Phases? I.e., AttackMan has a 23 DEX and 5 SPD normally. He also has +3 SPD - Only To Make Attacks(-?). How do I determine which of his 8 Phases are to be regular ones, and which are to be ones where he can only attack, not move? SPD 3: 4, 8, 12 + SPD 5: 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 = SPD 8: 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 (But which are which?) Thanks in advance!
  3. Re: Updated Website!!! Great site, Storn! But I should mention that when I click on a thumbnail to view the larger picture, I get a Java Runtime Error in line 13. A new window with the art still opens, but for it's title is the URL. The second time I click on the same thumbnail (sometimes it takes 3 tries), it opens without an error, and the window's title is the same as the thunbnail's caption. Just thought I should pass this along to you, so David can clean it up. EDIT: Oops. I guess I should have read all the new posts before replying. That way I would have seen David's post, and could then have sent this in a PM to him.

  6. Re: Global Guardians - Champs by email (review) IIRC, there were at least 20 different Teleporting Martial Artists being worked on by various people -- just after X2 came out.
  7. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture One more thing, Storn. I want to use this picture for a PBEM site that has some of it's own "legal wording" to it. I would like to make sure that your legal requirements and this site's don't conflict before the final O.K. (and payment). Should I post a link, copy and paste it here, or something else?
  8. Re: Storn Art from idea to full picture Being precisely detailed is not the same thing as being nit-picky. And *I'm* not the one that came up with the following construct (particulars may vary): Dispel Knockback Resistance 10D6, Does Knockback(+1/4), Double Knockback(+3/4).

  11. Can the Stun lost due to a non-fulfilled Dependence Stun the character? I would think not, as the Dependence is technically affecting the character the entire time -- it's just that it's "saved up" for each time period to facilitate bookkeeping. Otherwise, a character with a large # of D6, and long duration, Dependence could be just walking along fine one Phase, and the next, Whammo! Makes little sense to me that way.
  12. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. If he was a bit more aquatic looking, he could be called HammerHead! ;-) Storn, what is the usual procedure for getting a piece of (superhero) character art done? I'm seriously considering comissioning one, but have never done this before.
  13. These two entries are from the FAQ. the first implies that you *can* add Persistent to Costs END Only To Activate, and the second one says you can't. Which is it? "Costs Endurance Only To Activate Power Q: If I have this Advantage to a Power, and only have to pay END to turn the Power on, do I also need Persistent to keep it from turning off if I’m Stunned, Knocked Out, or asleep? A: Yes, you still need Persistent. Costs Endurance Only To Activate Power doesn’t make a power Persistent, and as the 5E text notes on page 273-74, if you’re Stunned or Knocked Out, all powers which aren’t Persistent turn off. Q: Can a character make a power with the Costs Endurance Only To Activate Advantage Persistent? A: No. A power has to be 0 END before a character can apply Persistent. (However, see under “Endurance Reserve.â€)"
  14. The FAQ says that Variable Advantage has a minimum value of +1/2. However, in the GMB (Green Man Book), Variable Advantage can be taken with a "Limited List", which reduces the cost by 1/4. So if I choose no greater than 4 Advantages of +1/4 value for the Variable Advantage, why wouldn't the math work out to: (1/4 * 2) - 1/4 = 1/4?
  15. If someone were to take an Endurance Battery, and take the Recovery portion with the Limitation, Costs END(-1/2), simulating that replenishing the store of energy is taxing on the character, when & how often does it cost END: 1. Each Phase of the charcter -- and if he is unable to pay it on each and every phase, the Battery doesn't get it's REC on PF12. 2. The END comes off of the character's PF12 Recovery, possibly causing a *loss* of END if the cost if greater than the character's personal REC. 3. Something else? SteveZilla
  16. Missed that one. Next question: Can the END cost for preventing the breakout bonuses be reduced, and if so, how would this be built/written up? SteveZilla
  17. If a mentalist has one of his Continuing-Effect Mental Powers bought with Reduced END (zero END), does his "paying" 0 END after established count for the purposes of preventing the bonuses to the target's breakout roll? SteveZilla
  18. I've found a contradiction in the Powers FAQ w/ regards to BOECV entangles & Teleportation. The two Q&As are quoted below: Q: Can a character use Teleportation to escape a BOECV Entangle? A: A BOECV Entangle would not prevent Teleportation (unless the Teleportation required some sort of physical movement, like Gestures, which the Entangle prevents). However, the victim remains Entangled when he appears in his new location. Q: Can a character escape a "Mental Paralysis" Entangle via Desolidification or Teleportation? A: Yes to Teleporation; no to Desolidification. Applying the Cannot Be Escaped With Teleportation (+1/4) Advantage to a Mental Paralysis would keep the victim from Teleporting out of it. Which is correct about using Teleportation to escape a BOECV Entangle? SteveZilla
  19. I couldn't seem to reply or to quote from Steve's reply to my first post, so I did a copy & paste for my follow-up question. > 1. The type of Maneuver doesn’t matter; the DCs add in > the normal way at the normal rate. My confusion comes from the fact that Killing Strike isn't worded as "STR +nD6 Strike" but simply as "HKA 1/2D6 (2DC)". In the case of a weapon used with the Killing Strike maneuver, you would add the maneuver's 2DCs (which would convert to adding 1 DC) to the weapon? > 2. I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking here. A > character using a weapon can increase its damage via > STR, Martial Maneuvers, CSLs, velocity, and however many > other methods he has available to him given the > circumstances — subject, as always, to the rule about > not more than doubling the base attack’s damage. To make a simple question out of the mishmash that I gave on my first post: If using a Martial Maneuver with a weapon, does STR still add it's DCs like it would without the Martial Arts? >What you may be asking is: can a character apply his STR > to a Martial Maneuver to increase its damage, then add > all that damage to his weapon, and then also add his STR > to the weapon as well (meaning he effectively adds his > STR to the weapon twice)? The answer to that is “no.†Nonono, that's not what I was asking. I know that in no way would any character get to add their STR twice to any one attack. > When a character applies a Martial Maneuver to a weapon, > he just applies the Damage Classes added by the Maneuver, > not Damage Classes + STR. If he wants to add his STR to the > weapon attack, he does so separately using the standard > rules for doing so. I must have missed or misunderstood that rule. So for example, a character with Martial Strike (+2 DCs), a 20 STR, and using a 1D6 weapon with a STR min of 10 would do 2D6 in damage (1D6 weapon + (2DCs/2=1DC maneuver) + 2DCs STR)? SteveZilla
  20. A) If using a Killing damage weapon and an armed Matial art, and using the weapon with a Killing Strike Maneuver: 1) Does the Maneuver damage add to the weapon as Base damage since it is also Killing damage? 2) Do purchased extra M/A DCs add at the 2 to 1 like normal, or do they add at 1 to 1 in this instance? When using a Martial Maneuver (either from a weapon oriented Art, or a barehanded art w/ the appropriate Weapon Element & Familiarity) with a Killing damage weapon, STR (above the STR min for the weapon) still adds to the damage along with the extra DCs (maneuver & extra purchased) from the Art?
