  1. Re: Proof Lightsabers make everything better! Lightsabers are so impressive, I didn't notice the Death Star the first time I looked at the pic.
  2. Re: Project XIII: images from my campaign Good stuff (and appropriate beverage choice), but the folks behind you in the ghost costumes are especially impressive!
  3. Re: Looking for ideas - Silver-age villain group "I have a fancy weapon" guy is always good. like the Melter or Weather Wizard, etc. Death Ray guy could fit here. Maybe a transmuter with an elemental ray, who still somehow feels the need to rob banks and such even though he can, you know, turn stuff to gold. "Captain Alchemy" or somesuch. A brick is always handy, especially a not always too bright one like Bizarro or Solomon Grundy. Maybe "Atomuck", nuclear powered pile of goo.
  4. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Good stuff. Glad you're feeling better. But..."Calculas"?
  5. Re: Villain Archetypes? I think for villains as well as heroes there really would be two sets of archetypes, one for powers/abilities and one for personality/motivation. Dr. Destroyer (at least earlier incarnations) and Armadillo are both basically battlesuits but would play very differently even at the same power level.
  6. Re: CU: How does PRIMUS handle foreigners? How does PRIMUS handle foreigners? On full auto of course!
  7. Re: Help with a plot power Psychic Flashes: +10 to Deduction, NCC (to move things along) Psychic Flashes: Physical Lim. - infrequent, slight (to get things started)
  8. Re: How to balance the heavy brick ? The problems will come as he's part of a team. Sure, his OCV 3 won't hit DCV 8 too often. But when he's on a team, he can be a lot more powerful. The high movement characters pick him up and get him into position. Other characters flash the enemy, entangle them, knock them down etc. to lower their DCV. Suddenly that 3 OCV is targeting a DCV 4 and gets a lot likelier to connect. Then when he gets a little experience, out come the 2pt levels. Ten XP down the road, that 27d6 attack is swinging at OCV 8. You could of course say "no" to the levels, but it's probably better to just say "no" to the 27d6 up front. Help him build a character that can still be powerful and have some schtick protection but isn't a one-dimensional top heavy construct.
  9. Re: The Avengers Legacy UserCP->Your Profile->Albums->(Show All Albums)->Add Album (Sequence might be a little different if don't have any albums yet)
  10. Re: The Avengers Legacy The healing throws me off, but with the other powers I'd guess Power Pack.
  11. Re: Followed by a Cloud of Radioactive Wasps If it's not the character's idea, maybe Unluck? That's gotta be at least 2 dice worth of effect.
  12. Re: Free character pics Thanks for the offer, even if mine don't get picked! Look forward to seeing all the results. I'm always up for different pics of this guy: (by Acroyear, colors by shir1964) Vest can be green too if doing a color version. Sneaky scary acrobatic 1930's crimebuster with Halloween arsenal. Scrapyard Armor as a result of powers, not power armor. Artist who did scrap-metal sculptures got caught in an accident involving a junkyard magnet and a lightning bolt while looking for parts, wound up with magnetic powers. Rather than run around in spandex and hope there was metal nearby, decided to bring a good bit with him to manipulate. Suit is built from scrap parts, some significantly tooled, others just stuck on. Bottom layer is more finished and set, though is still inconsistent in regards to color and texture it is largely an interlocking set of armor. On top of that various bits and parts are hooked on or adhered magnetically - chains, a stop sign, pipes and metal tubing leading to cans full of ball bearings, etc. Gauntlets/forearms are oversized. Show one hand dangling from a chain leading to the forearm, for scale purposes the real flesh hand of the wearer is inside the oversized forearm but not visible. Boots oversized as well, have groove in bottom that could fit snugly on standard railway lines. Grolm the All-Seeing Extradimensional gorilla sorceror. Three eyes, set equidistant around head (one facing forward, might look like cyclops from straight-on), four arms (set 'normally' from torso), two legs. Purplish tinge to fur, mystic sigils inscribed upon chest, various pouches and doo-dads around waist and strapped to his various arms. Posed floating with legs in lotus position, arms performing some spell. Prismcat Large (tiger-sized) cat with white fiber-optic fur, bob tail. Bonus points if the pic has him lapping up a strawberry shake or sliding across a street surfing on a supervillain, especially Charger.
  13. Re: Modern Military Zeppelins Perform the functions of a spy satellite at closer ranges but still safe from enemies without airpower, able to adjust faster and likely cheaper to boot (especially factoring in launch costs). Sounds good to me.
  14. Re: Our Super Leaders Agreed, very unlikely short of mass mind control. And if you have mass mind control, why bother rewriting the rules? More likely (though still unlikely) scenarios might involve a conspiracy among the prominent supers. Why run the government when you can have others do it for you? Some officials would be happy to do things for the JLA. Others can be corrupted. Those that make trouble can be eliminated or framed. Or maybe instead of the requirement being super powers, it's an unofficial requirement for higher office to be super smart. After President Richards set up the formulas to keep the budgets balanced, wiped out the deficit/debt and came up with a workable missile shield by Jan. 21st the bar would be set pretty high. If you've got enough of these guys working together, could be tough to beat. But if they're so smart, again they may not need to be in office themselves - should be able to figure out ways to get the govt to do what they want or just bypass it.
  15. Re: WWII Spinoff Sort-of. Need help! That could be fun. But why not go ahead and use the President? FDR took some overseas flights for conferences during the war, maybe he crashes on some scary island along the way, with Dr. Moreau, a secret Axis sub base, King Kong, or even all three. Not wanting it to leak out they don't send the regular Navy in, instead sending the PCs. (example trip) http://www.historynet.com/president-franklin-d-roosevelt-flew-to-meet-british-prime-minister-winston-churchill-for-a-summit-in-casablanca.htm
  16. Re: WWII Spinoff Sort-of. Need help! Feel free to steal liberally from here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70210 I would think you could take pretty much any WWII behind-lines film like Where Eagles Dare, etc. and add supernatural elements, or take any supernatural movie and put it into a WWII setting and make it work. Good luck!
  17. Re: Some Help for WWII Icons Assuming ones not from our games: USA: Captain America USSR: none; all previously fled or liquidated. Germany: Red Skull Italy: no one comes to mind Japan: Dragon King UK: Union Jack France: no one comes to mind
  18. Re: new marvel time line Awesome HawksmoorSD! I'd love to see a breakdown of your version (either online somewhere or in a separate thread) sometime. Any particular reason behind point 1? (in what you've already established) Just to explain the "superhero null zone" of the 1950's? Was there a particular rationale for SHIELD/govt to do so, and if so why didn't they pick up where they left off when supers started to reappear? Presumably the really powerful ones like Apocalypse either weren't around or just weren't found. What about folks like Magneto and Sub-Mariner? With the US having the most and most powerful supers, why take them out? Seems like a waste. Not to mention ungrateful. As for the storylines/characters, personally mainly the redundancies and the things I just personally don't like. If you have three characters that are pretty much the same, you can get rid of at least one of them. *Any of the Thanos and Warlock post-resurrection stuff. The initial storylines were cool, leave them be. No need for all the Infinity mess. Besides, if you need more "universe almost destroyed" stories you've got the M'krann Crystal, Korvac, and folks like Galactus and Dark Phoenix. *Speaking of which, Jean Grey should have stayed dead. Great storyline, her coming back really weakens the impact and the sacrifice. It should remain one of the central moments of the X-story. *I (and the Marvel:TNG games mentioned above) pretty much ignore everything around 2002 on - Disassembled, Civil War, etc. Once Busiek left Avengers is around where we cut off, with selective memory and rewrites for earlier things as needed. *Venom and the whole symbiote plague that followed. The original alien costume story was pretty interesting, but Venom and all that followed left me pretty cold. And I hear lately they made Mac Gargan (Scorpion) Venom now? Gah. Scorpion was cool, why ruin him? There's plenty of "almost like Spidey's powers" bad guys in the Spidey books (like Scorpion himself), why add another half-dozen with crazy teeth? *Pretty much any "everything you thought you knew was a lie!" stories and everything that flows from them, especially where they mess with the origin story. Nope, Peter Parker couldn't just randomly get bitten by a radioactive spider, it's really some mystically-influenced hooplah!
  19. Re: Hero 5 and Marvel Continuity Yeah, Great Net Book of Real Heroes would be my first stop. Easy to update, or since using as NPCs just use straight and don't sweat the small stuff. Plus enough examples that can use for templates/comparisons for other folks ("OK, this guy is about as strong as X, so his Str should be about the same..."). Be advised that writeups are done by different people who may have different views on abilities and power levels, so there may be some inconsistencies with your views, but easy enough to adjust. Enforcer84 has also put together a good number of detailed writeups here. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75164 Search for threads started by Enforcer84 and will probably find more.
  20. Re: TEAM ALPHA PBP game Instead of trying to do it as a thread here, may I suggest HeroCentral? http://www.herocentral.net
  21. Re: Pulp Hero Resources Potential pics for Victorian/Pulp type characters: http://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/ Like Baron Kraken! http://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/chevalier.html Jeff Well - Air Ace! http://www.handlebarclub.co.uk/wbmcwin/dali3rd.html Count...um...Spikeybeard! http://www.handlebarclub.co.uk/wbmcwin/pbeardfree2nd.html The Sinister Segalotto! http://www.handlebarclub.co.uk/wbmcwin/verdi3rd.html Why just twirl a mustache when you can twirl an AMAZING mustache? Enjoy.
  22. Re: Describers I use the epithet version (Invincible Iron Man, Uncanny X-Men, gray-eyed Athena) when writing sometimes. As for actually being part of the name, sometimes. Plus those times when it comes part and parcel with what you're taking the name from...not many spider-themed characters would be just "Widow" I imagine. Let's see...in past games/things I can recall off the top of my head: Scarlet Shade Red Centipede Scarlet Scarab (Green Beret) (Black Widow) Blue Cyclone So colors basically. Plus lots of titles like Dr., Mr., Miss, Captain, Lord and so on.
  23. Re: Who is your favourite Champions Character Background/History? Foxbat Grond Pulsar Plasmoid
  24. Re: Villainess Romance Appeal? There should be some consequences if others know that Harry's helping them out. The other PCs, other superheroes, the authorities. How would Harry's other wizard buddies in the fight with the supernatural feel about his helping Infernus out? She's the really troubling one. Maybe have her explain sometime after she does something unpleasant and he helps her that the reason she gave him his soul back is that she was sure she could get him to damn himself anyways. "You don't have to give it all up at once in a contract dearie...the old fashioned way of bit by bit is even more fun. I've even been giving you clues, with only taking part of other people's souls. And every time you help me do it, a little bit of yours comes along for the ride. Maybe I'll start collecting your friends afterwards, hmm? That way they can keep you company." And once he realizes what he's been doing, he/the group can go on a series of adventures to recover the bits of other people's souls she's been taking - and along the way redeem his own. Afterwards, maybe the experience will even allow for more character growth and change how he treats Multi-Girl too.
