I've long considered something similar:
 
"Hey, you look familiar..."
- Set in a 2099-like world. The future is here, and it's not a nice place. Evil megacorps, evil bandit lords, evil this, evil that. Characters all wake up together in big test-tube vats, as armed men are breaking in, trying to kill them. All the PC's look alike, and gradually all discover that they're all defective attempts to clone the world's former Superman-type guy. All have some strength and invulnerability, and each has one area of additional power - one has more strength/invuln, one has superspeed/flight, one has various vision powers, etc. They've been in storage for decades, hidden by party or parties unknown, until someone found out and sent people to kill them. Campaign to see if this group of half-supermen can live up to the legacy of the original and clean up the world.

Fantasy (D&D) game. We free this god of strength who was chained up (how he got there is a mystery we don't have the time or inclination to follow up on) and he grants us choices of various strength-related boons for freeing him.
 
Cleric's player: "Maybe next we can rescue the god of wisdom."
 
GM: "The god of wisdom knows not to get chained up."

Back to superheroes... back to the 70s!!! The client wanted the cheesy kung fu heroine decked out... his name is Golden Phoenix, but I kept thinking Lotus Jones...with a whole lotta waaa waaa peddle; "Her daddy was left behind in korea, her momma was all kinds of chinese kung fu take out... now, she fights crime!!!".Anyway, golden phoenix everyone....

As a Champions player, I'd say my greatest moments were two similar, but unrelated moments with my character Raze.
 
First moment - the team is out in space, and another character, Acoustic, has been captured by the evil alien Battacks. I manage to find him, and he's in a lab with his body on a table hooked up to various tubes and diodes, with his brain in a jar. Not having much time before enemy reinforcements arrive, I try to figure out a quick way to fix him.
 
GM: "Paramedics roll."
 
Me: "3."
 
So, I grab his brain and some fluid, slap them in, seal up the skull and we move on.
 
Second moment - we're fighting VOICE. One of the characters, an alien princess, got severely hosed by the bad guys and was at neg body. I fly over and try to help her.
 
GM: "Paramedics roll."
 
Me: "3."
 
So, I stimulate the little-known Ventoran regeneration gland, and she's stabilized.
 
Afterwards, I seriously considered buying "PS: Messiah."

currently in playtest and have a tenative release date set for late 2006.

I thought it was a clever tackling of a universal RPG system, instead of the multi figure approach of other covers.

I decided to combine my digital watercolor look for the background and keep to the more comic-booky coloring for the figure busting the frame of reference.

I don't know, I'd kind of like to have about 94% of both the DC and the Marvel Universes smacked down by "Super-hero Deflation Man".
 
I mean, I really like supers like Spidey, Luke Cage, etc. which have a strong, consistent conception, and a basically static level of "bad-***-ness". I'm so totally tired of the constant power expansion, and the convenient powering up (and down) of heroes to allow certain story lines to be developed.
 
My biggest pleasure in the new Avengers series (other than Jessica Drew--wow!!!) is the constant reminder (not just by Spidey) that Wolverine isn't the be-all and end-all of superheroes. He's a scrapper, he heals quick, and he has sharp things. That's it. Nothing to prevent him from getting tossed out a window, or smacked across the neighborhood by someone.
 
I was never a fan of cosmic story-lines in the first place, but what's really bugging me is the constant intrusion and intermixing of cosmic/epic characters with relatively normal/street level ones. I don't mind the "crime fighting detective" Batman, nor, truth be told, do I mind the "plan for every eventuality" Batman that is on the League (I kind of like it). However, pick one or the other. If the guy has implemented plans to defeat/monitor every superhero on earth, then he's NOT going to get smacked around by some loser with a bag on his head.
 
I'd LOOOOVE to see every single hero/villain in both Marvel and DC engage in an epic bout of "pecking-order" smacking. All the guys who are going to be operating on "street level" get smacked back down to that level, and all the guys who are going to be on planet-cop duty do the smacking.
 
If I had to name names:
 
Wolverine-he's basically a short guy with knives who heals up quick. What couldn't a flame-thrower handle?
 
Zantanna--what's it going to be? Sorceress Supreme of GNIKLAT SDRAWKCAB, or cute magician? I like her; I love the fishnet hose. However, when the spell-casting hottie becomes the crux of the Justice League's soul searching, something has gone horribly awry.
 
Deathstroke--He uses most of his brain. So what? What's he got that gets through bullet-proof skin? Does using more of your brain make you immune to magic AND telepathy?
 
Hulk--look, if you can change into your alternate ID quicker than a bullet can leave a gun next to your head, you shouldn't get the points for "Only in Hero ID", should you?
 
Batman--If you're the world's greatest detective, you don't really have to beat up supervillains (or your friends) yourself, do you? Just figure out their weaknesses, and hand them over to your pals. "Flash, here's some Kryptonite. Drop it into Supe's shorts if he gets uppity. I'm outta here." Given that superhumans have tagged you more than once, how are you still ambulatory anyway?
 
Green Arrow AND Hawkeye. I love Ollie, I hate Clint. Fact remains, they shoot freaking arrows! That's it! Put them up against the villains and threats that are appropriate, or get rid of them. We might as well have Hand Grenade Man (yes, Tick reference).

The Magician was my second ever Champions character and is now deceased. He suffered from depression but was someone who would not kill if at all avoidable.
I like the new pic as the others were more black and white.

Here is a supervillain team (or parts of it) called Anarchy created for the GGU by someone a long time ago... probably Jack himself. They are mercenaries and have a major beef against the US Military.
 
The leader is Assault, a Vietnamese American Brick.
 
Razor is a psycho with a very sharp forcefield (which shreds any clothes he wears - not that he minds).
 
Diablo is a pyrokinetic with a dark personality... don't they all?

Jeff gave me an exhaustive description. I hope I did his team justice. To those others that I have commissions to do for, I will be getting to them slowly and surely. Origins is eating up a bit of time due to prep. But I'll be taking sketches to do with me.

Here's a pic...Actually, I think I've posted it before on the NGD some time back, but what the hey, I just figured I'd post something.
 
Those of you from back in the day may remember him. It's Cryotron, from Enemies III (ACK!!!), I believe.
 
The reflection is of a player's character named Firestone, who's about to give ol' Cryotron a fist full of fire. Further in the back, it looks like another player's character, Bison, being fired upon by IIRC, Rainbow, also from Enemies III...but I could be wrong on that one.
 
Also, if anyone wants to critique the piece, please feel free. All opinions, good and bad are appreciated.

Hi all. Im going to try to post a pic or two. Im a semi-professional artist; my roomate and I drew all the cardboard figures for the "Stand-Ins" line available at RPGnow.com. (We did alot of the coloring too, but the editors wife did some also).
 
Anyway, for a long time now weve used what we call "Heroforms"; blank figures that I drew a while back, just to give a good idea of the overall costume. Im going to try to post the costume for Revenant. Hes our current campaigns "dark brooding avenger of the night" type. Hope you all like him
