  1. Re: Villianous Code Name for a Emotion Manipulater Jack of Hearts if you go casually villainy. How about "Date-Rape Boy" if you go dark with it. What kind of name would a teen-age boy want? Stud? What kind of name would other teens give him?
  2. Re: CLOWN for 5th Champions CLOWN was always entertaining for our group when things had gotten too dark or just too serious. But, while requiring a major re-tooling, I could easily see a way to bring CLOWN into the Champions Universe. Because we play a game with superheroes, there is naturally a focus on metahumans being either heros or villains. Now and again there is an NPC superpowered being who is neither, just fitting in and living his/her life in the Champions Universe. But CLOWN could easily fit into the Champions Universe as a group of bored metahumans not compelled to be heroes or villains but not content to be regular folks either. Sort of a group of super-powered performance artists whose next big prank has to top the one before so they can one-up their compatriots and deal with the ennui of being soooo powerful yet neither heroes, villains, or the person next door. CLOWN could definitely have political overtones, economic overtones, etc. Think of them as opinionated fringe folks with odd senses of humor, bored with time on their hands, and the metahuman abilities to wreak a lot of havok. I miss them.
  3. Re: Instructors needed, apply within. If the instructor is a NPC, a precog would drive students nuts! Imagine a teacher who knew what crap you were going to pull before you pulled it, could evaluate your strengths and weaknesses before you began a project, and knew what choices you would make before you made them.
  4. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #63 Your character is, I hope, a villain? And one that, no offense, I hope gets arrested VERY SOON if he frequently mind-rapes people.
  5. Re: What superhero world concept are you tired of seeing? OK. It appears that you really dislike all world concept genre conventions. Would you prefer a game setting based on how people might actually react in the real world to the emergence of super powers?
  6. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #63 Are you sure Husky is a hero? Cause that behavior is underhanded, dishonest, and manipulative? (Not that I against being underhanded, dishonest, or manipulative...just thought your character was more straightlaced heroic type!)
  7. Re: Real World Issues in the Game World I'm playing in a game now in which 9/11 was the trigger for super powers. A version of the Wild Card virus was released by terrorists. It is going well so far!
  8. Re: What superhero character concepts are you tired of seeing? Well, yes, that is true. Sort of like the "reformed villain" applying for hero team membership...only he is the only one who knows he is reformed! Not gonna be welcomed with open arms...
  9. Re: Strike Force Jealousy. Intense jealousy. Not just that they had the supplement, BUT THAT YOU HAVE A FREAKIN' STORE WITH HERO ITEMS AND USED GAMING STUFF. (My local store has half a shelf, and that only because of the game I play in.)
  10. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #63 A minor child lacks legal standing to choose to remain in his newly aquired artificially aged body. Legally, his parents or guardians would have the legal right to decide if he did or did not stay "all grown up". So in game terms, you could face loving parents distraught over their precious baby losing his childhood...or unethical parents seeing a monetary advantage to having a kid they (think) can be controlled with a lot of power. Plus...if a kid jumps from age 5 to age 25 physically, but not emotionally or intellectually, you've got a NIGHTMARE on your hands. Look at your own kids, neighbors kids, etc. and tell me you want a 5 year old kid with the body of a grown man and enough power to blast an armored car away. Uh uh. No way. Regress that sucker back to his rightful age. Even if childhood sucks, it is suckage we all have to deal with before being adults. No cutting in line, no skipping ahead.
  11. Re: What superhero character concepts are you tired of seeing? Several of my characters have started as super-powered beings with no heroic motivation. What I do to make that work is lay character groundwork for the potential for heroic motivation, and then discuss with the GM what general events we inlcude in the game to make the character a hero. It is sort of like role-playing Peter Parker finding out the robber he didn't stop is the man who killed his Uncle Ben. So my characters gain their heroic motivation in game time. Has worked well for me so far. I have also had players in the games I've GM'd choose to do the same.
  12. Re: Campaign Plot Ideas Create a mystery. Plot will automatically occur if the group has to figure out who to engage in combat.
  13. If I see another Wolverine or Batman clone again I may lose what is left of my mind.
  14. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #63 First...wonder how a kid learned profanity so quickly! Rook would telepathically link with the kid to see why he wanted to skip the first eighteen years of his life. Then, (barring finding horrific abuse or anything like that in his background), Rook would use mental illusions to show him what he was missing by growing up "too fast" (you know - kids birthday parties, holidays such as Christmas, summer vacation, graduation, all the Norman Rockwell Hallmark cards you could imagine) and hope he chose to go back. If not, then Rook would guilt him by showing him how his parents will experience grief nearly beyond imagining by the loss of their baby. Hopefully the brat would be ready to go back and actually live his life instead of fast forwarding. Then he'd get zapped back to infancy. And watched carefully for signs of his powers manifesting in the years to come!
  15. Re: Looking for ideas for my campaign (Danger: Long) Why start small with an FF homage? A Galactus clone ought to make any FF inspired group quiver with fear/anticipation. Especially if you start with a Herald clone first. "I am the Golden Glider...Herald of Galaxia. Prepare your world for her arrival." And the players wet themselves...
