He also carries a bag of gold coins that he can throw behind opponents and then pull back to himself with great force. A favorite tactic is to pre position coins so he can attack from any angle. He has also learned to use prepositioned coins as anchors to travel at high speed by pulling on the gold as long as it can't move he will be pulled towards it instead. Using this technique he can pull him self up buildings or even fly given appropriate anchors. Another trick he uses is spreading extremely fine gold dust around a space due to his ability to sense gold within a large sphere he is able to detect movement and track even invisible foes.

Wouldn't it be easier to tie the plots together instead of the road rage attacks being a distraction why not a test run for a more powerful version of the drug. when the heroes bust up the Lab they find that a truck containing the rage formula has already left for a staging location a secondary test site where the drug will be used on a smallish crowd [subway, movie theater, walmart] both as a final test and as the public demonstration for the ransom demand. the heroes arrive just seconds to late for the test and suddenly there is chaos the heroes are forced to give up the chase to stop the Innocent citizens from rampaging. the aster villain delivers his ultimatum to the city pay me 100 MILLLLLLLLION dollars or i detonate a rage bomb over the annual friendship and brother hood parade. now its a race against time to discover the location of the bomb or bombs and track down the master villain before madness descends on the city. its kind of a silver age plot but if you want to mix it up you can either ditch the ransom part its purely a terrorist attack or the silver age villain shtick is actually a ruse the rage gas is being developed as a weapon for third world dictators and will be sold at a black market auction to the highest bidder. so in your next arc your heroes discover the master villain they thought they had defeated is really just a henchman and the heroes have to track down and break up the auction and defeat the true master plus the super powered muscle of the black-market bidders to end the threat.

During his training his trainers thought he was cheating somehow he always seemed to know where traps were who was a traitor and when someone was about to attack. Eventually a visiting member of the Silver star realized that mort had a gift. Research and testing has revealed that mort has latent telepathic powers that manifest as the ability to detect violent intentions towards someone he feels protective of he also gets precognitive flashes of other dangers. Mort has learnt to harness his power in combat knowing when an attack is coming makes him an excellent fighter and almost impossible to hit. His power appears to have a global range and his danger sense will work for dozens of people. The further away he is from the protectee the less information he gets at a distance he may just get a feeling of danger. Within a few hundred yards he can triangulate the danger. If right beside the primary he often gets brief prerogative visions of the danger and can pick out individuals in a crowd with violent intent. Some telepaths have tried to convince mort to expand his abilities and become a true psychic but Mort is happy with how his gift works now and does not want to risk losing it. He has a deep psychological need to protect people especially women and children and will take a bullet for anyone he considers his responsibility.
