  1. I did a search through the forums to see if someone had already posted on this topic and didn't find any, so if there is another thread on this topic, I'm sorry. Anyway, I was wondering what interesting/unusual places you have had super hero fights take place and why they were interesting/unique. One of the best ones I've done was on a speeding magna-rail bullet train. The heroes not only had to worry about staying on the train (knockback kept the teams teleporter and fast flyer very busy) but also figure a way keep the passengers in the confined spaces out of danger. Anyone else?
  2. Steve, A character with a DCV of 8 and a speed of 5 takes a recovery on phase 5. This halves his DCV to 4. On phase 6, the character is attacked and decides to abort to a dodge. What is the characters final DCV? Is it 7 (half the character's DCV of 8 +3 for the dodge) or 6 (1/2 of (DCV 8 +3 for the dodge) or is it 11 (DCV 8 +3) Thanks
  3. Mr. Long, If a person spreads an Energy Blast to attack all targets in a hex and one of them is is shrunk, lets say 4 levels, does the shrunk character still get his +8 DCV bonus for being shrunk vs the attack? Thanks
  4. One of my favorite quotes is from "The Crow" "It's not a good day to be a bad guy" I
  5. Can you use the rapid fire manuever with mental powers, such as Ego Blast or Mind Control? I would guess that you could with an Ego Blast (as it is the only mental power that you can Spread) but not any other mental power.
  6. This sorta qualifies as a Harrass the GM story... I was running a horror game ( Now if any of you have been in a horror game, you know that mood and atmosphere are key to a good game..Keep this in mind) that involved several ghosts, one of them with the ability to possess people. The game was coming to a climatic part of the story where a ghost had possesed a maid who then tried to kill some of the PC's. During the fight, one of the players managed to decapitated a poor possesed maid with a lucky shot with an axe. The dialog at the table went something like this.. GM: The maid's lifeless body crumples to the floor. Blood is everywhere. PC 1 : I whack the body with the axe again just to make sure. GM: Ok.... While you raise your axe to deliver another blow, the head of the maid begins to speak...You find it odd that she now is speaking perfect french! (Pause for dramatic effect) PC 1: I find it odd that a decapitated head is speaking at all... The whole table, including myself erupted in laughter. It was impossible to recreate any sort of atmosphere after that... Just goes to show you that even when the GM thinks he/she is in total control...
  7. I’m curious to how other GM’s handle certain legal issues in their games. Things like: Do you allow telepathy as evidence or is it an invasion of privacy? What if a person requests a telepath in court? What do you do with ultra-powerful paranormals who probably can’t be contained by normal means—Menton, Grond, Firewing, etc.. Anyone have any crazy off-the wall laws in their game? such as certain costumes may be considered indecent in public settings. Basically I’m looking for an overview on how GM’s handle legal issues that might pop up in a world with paranormals. FYI, Bob Ingersoll has a great site http://www.worldfamouscomics.com/law/ about how the “real world†legal system would handle certain legal issues but I’m looking for more how laws might be passed and implemented in a paranormal world….
  8. Are there any penalties for a person just moving when flashed or trying to just move through a darkness field? It seems to me that some sort of DEX roll might be required for a person to move without stumbling over something or falling down. This came up in our last game when a person with combat sense has in a darkness field and wanted to move several hexes and attack a target who was also in the darkness.
  9. Steve I have a character in my game that has a multipower defined as a sword, with various powers, such as a HKA, and HTHA bonus to damage. He also has martial arts with the weapon element swords. He wants to have a power in his sword--an NND "taser" type attack that shocks the target when he touches them with the sword (its not a ranged attack). Can he use his martial arts manuvers like fast strike or martial strike with this NND attack?
  10. Can a person use Mindscan and attack with a mental power through the mindscan in the same phase? Since this would require 2 attack rolls, I would think you would have to wait 1 phase before using any mental power through the mindscan once it is "locked on"--or if the character wants to use a multiple power attack, does he use the same attack roll for both the mind scan and the mental attack through it? (this is assuming the character in question does not have any restrictions on his mindscan, such as being in the same multipower as the metal attack) Thanks
  11. I've run games based in Seattle, New York and LA, as well as several fictional cities--including my current one --Metrocity, which is located on the eastern seaboard.
  12. If a character has defense maneuver 4, how is his DCV effected when attacked by an invisible character? Am I interpreting the FAQ correctly that he gets full DCV regardless if he makes a non-targeting perception roll or not...
  13. For my game, I give out "brownie points" which can be used to re-roll dice. A PC can get a brownie point for things like good role playing, clever use of powers, a good idea, bringing the GM donuts, or something like that. Generaly 1 BP is used for 1 re-roll.
