Hrmmm, this could be used for the second sight that The Inbued have in Hunter: The Reckoning too....uh... sorta. I always assumed it would be a Mind Scan of some kind, as the more powerful the creature, the better it could hide from mortals that might see it. The sight would sorta be a special effect of the MS. But this is alot cheaper, more to the point, and less of a hassle. -=Grim=-

Well, Change Environment in 4th isnt what it is in 5th apparently. It gets a two paragraph treatment and doest hit anyone up with modifiers of any kind. Its almost like a glorified special effect that the GM can give a modifier to in extreme cases (like frost slowing down a fire-guy). Actually CE is the main reason Im getting 5th ed. I openned the book in the store and saw PAGES for it, not paragraphs. I read in some compilation of AC articles at my local game store that every 10 pts of CE is a -1 to perception, but they said it like that was obvious in the rules. Maybe I have the Toys R Us version of Hero? I think Im going the route of modifiers with the special effect being despair, as stated above. At least for now. -=Grim=-

Are negative combat levels new to 5th? Cuz I dont have those in my books I dont think. If so, add itt o my list as to why I wait for revised with hunger in my eyes and a fire axe in my hands... -=Grim=-

Alright, Ive said that I play 4th ed (until revised comes out), so 5th may answer this question for me. But I have no way of knowing, so Ill ask you all. I want to create a Mind Control that causes despair. It wont make you lay down and cry, but you wont fight as effectively and your morale drops. Now, do you suppose that its fair that for every 10 or 15 pts of MC you get a -1 to OCV, DCV and ECV? Or is that too powerful. I dont see any way to apply penalties with MC in the book. But I sometimes read past things (I blame my meds), so the answer might be there and Im just retarded. Is this fair? Or is there a better way to do this? The Drain route is way too expensive, IMHO, for what I want the despair to do. Or is Drain the real way to go and I should forget Mind Control?? Blargh. On a side note, I contemplated switching systems to Wraith/Vampire, but I then beat myself up mentally. I love this system too much. But in sticking with Hero, I gotta find a way to do this despair thing... -=Grim=-

Hrrrrm, an Ego Drain maybe mixed to Negative Skil Levels... Ive been seriuosly reconsidering a form of Mind Control only because I can see characters with Mental Defenses being particularly resistant to Taunting. But Change Environment works too. Too bad the 4th ed book has such a sucky CE description. Pffft. Thats ok, Ill buy the revised. For now Ill just borrow one again. Mwhhaha. -=Grim=-

Yo, Im trying to figure out how to build a taunt attack. Not a presence attack, which was how I built it to begin with, as I was unhappy with the outcome. I want to have a villain that constantly spews insults to make you less effective in combat or when trying to perform skills. Would an "Entangle vs. Sight with a limitation of Only Affecting Skill Use and OCV"? I mean, thats all I could think of and I hate it. Its definately not a mind control attack. I want to create actual penalties with the Taunt. So then I thought maybe some sort of Flash, but I didnt see any way that would work as a Taunt. Then I thought maybe a Drain vs DEX would work, as that affects combat values as well as most skills that would be afected by the Taunt, probably linked to an Intelligence Drain or something. Im kinda not happy with any of those, and everyone on this forum is REALLY good at thinking of things like this, so I decided to post my problem here. Usually its me missing the obvious. I dunno. Hrmmm, yea the reason i asked is because I thought I was doing something wrong using MC (which is what I tried to do to begin with) because of the end cost I got. Hheheh. I guess I was right and its just expensive. The combat levels thing I like, even though its not what I was originally intending to have the effect be. Yea I should have been more specific. I wanted it to be supernatural. The guy is a master vampire who's voice gets all freaky and his thralls charge back into battle, suicidally attacking for him. I want them totally fearless, which is why I was wondering if it was Ego Aid or something. -=Grim=-

I have a question. I want to make a character who can shout a rousing speech and voost the morale of the people around him that are friendly to him. How would I reflect this? Would it be an AID to others Ego? Would presence factor into this? -=Grim=-

Well, you could just call it KS: Cultures as a vague catch-ass for the Peoples of your setting. Id make the knowledge known very....uh... light, since it encompasses so many different cultures. Maybe KS: Peoples of [setting name], with more detailed KS: People of [kingdom/empire/etc] or something like that. Hrmmm. *shrugs* -=Grim=-
