  1. Re: Blue Beetle's Disads? I still say the compulsive eating thing was a good character trait, as long as he controlled it. Fat Blue Beetle is no good, but BB moaning about how he wishes he could eat pizza is funny. Had it never been introduced at all, probably wouldn't be saying, gee I wish some superhero had a weight problem. But I feel it humanized him a lot and it certainly endeared him to me. I hate hate hate fat beetle, but I like the idea of a super hero who isn't naturally prone to a stunning physique. I never understood why putting on spandex gave a person six-pack abs and a killer ***. If that were remotely logical, spandex would be a lot more popular.
  2. Re: Blue Beetle's Disads? It was Birds of Prey issue where I thought they addressed it best. Chuck Dixon is the one who established that he'd gained control of his eating habits without completely invalidating Giffen's previous stories. THerefore, psych lim for five to ten and he has to make ego rolls (I'd say with a bonus) around his favorite foods which are Tex Mex and pizza I believe. I thought it added depth to a pretty stupid joke.
  3. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Hellah Protectors The MAX Cage. I thought it was the best Cage yet. I loved the "thug life" Luke Cage and the Noir twists. It was mini, but no plans for more and it seems to be pretty much universely reviled. Alan Moore's Youngblood. The only decent Youngblood ever. Only like two issues came out. The heroic Green Goblin
  4. Re: Blue Beetle's Disads? No they didn't!
  5. Re: Blue Beetle's Disads? BB had heart trouble which could be worth some points. He was also a compulsive eater. I actually saw him make his ego roll when fighting in a mall food court. First to enter, then again when he passed the tex mex place. In love with Babs would be a good one, he would go to any length to help Oracle, even to the detriment of his company. I think you should have enough disads there.
  6. Re: Teen Mutants Unlimited Something that equals TMU? Turner Mitchell University?
  7. Re: New Character: Feedback and Help Buy the powers you want focused through objects of opportunity. Edit: If you want sample builds, I'll be back later.
  8. Re: Monster Hunter Campaign? Did you want editing? It seems fine to me, there's some grammar errors and a little re-arranging might improve the flow, but it's definitely quality enough for DH. Also need to trim some words, with your permission, I'll go over it and then I can e-mail it back to you, maybe I can help.
  9. Re: Spiderman Writeup I'm not sure if it was at the same time he gained the spider/insect empathy and organic webshooters (honestly, what's the difference?), but I have heard people mention his strength as increased to fifteen tons. Which, strangely enough, makes him quite a bit strong than Venom, the bigger, meaner Spider-Man. I wonder if they'll increase his strength as well.
  10. Re: Brain Fart. (CU) For a second, I thought you were saying the CU's superman homage was named Brain Fart. And that just didn't make a lot of sense to me.
  11. Re: Monster Hunter Campaign? I'm curious, is it too late to get a peek?
  12. Re: Ridiculous things in comics that you don't mind. Have you read All-Star Superman? It's amazing how Quitely manipulates Clark/Superman's posture to give him two very distinct looks. Clark is a pudgy, slouching slob with his messy hair and Superman is all barrel-chested, square jawed glory with his perfect spit curl. Makes me wonder if you slowed down his superspeed change, you'd see him hellah primpin' that ****!
  13. Re: Teen Titans (TV) I did clix last year. I want to try something else and I don't feel like buying, painting and basing the cast and villains like I did for the X-Men. And I had to make some of the X-Men and probably would have to make some of the Titans' villains. But mostly, I think these little 1.5" figures really capture the feel and spirit of the show, the clix recall the comic series (the regular one, not the one based on the show)
  14. Re: Ridiculous things in comics that you don't mind. I don't mind Spidey's horrid costume changes. Accepting the black costume, which is my favorite, and the future spidey jacket, which I thought was clever, his costume changes are ridiculous. Steel Spider anyone? And my new personal favorite worst costume: IRon Spidey http://www.newsarama.com/JoeFridays/JoeFridays33.html Scroll down about halfway.
  15. Re: Teen Titans (TV) Ah! You're the man, LL! I had completely forgotten about that. Muchos Repos for you.
  16. Re: Teen Titans (TV) Thanks, Bill! I'd love to see your write-ups. I'll check out that link. I'm in the middle of moving this weekend, so I don't have a lot of time to mess around, so I'll check it out tomorrow at work. Here's a link for Gogira http://www.superherotimes.com/newsarchive/000347.php
  17. Okay, I've been inspired by the Teen Titan toys that are about 1.5" in size and are arranged on cardstock to look like pages from a comic book. Inspired to run another young players game at an upcoming Convention using these figures. I looked back for Michael Hopcraft's write ups and couldn't find them or at least couldn't find them not written in HTML. I was hoping people around here could give me suggestions, advice on Titans cartoon lore and their villains, power builds, even complete write-ups if you're interested. Maybe someone could translate that Michael's write-ups back to legible. (I'm sure someone could do it a lot quicker than me) After a little time and some work on my own stuff, I'll post the completed versions I'll use at the convention. All input is GRRRREATLY appreciated as I am only passingly familar with the Titans in this incarnation, but I figured kids would dig it. After the convention, I'll post a recap of how it went because I wish I'd done that last year. It was very fun.
  18. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew? What are you, stuttering now? Or is that more vitriol coming out of your keyboard? I didn't revise anything, you're arguing conjecture and opinion and all I'm trying to do is establish a fact about a specific point. And at least you deigned to participate in that with your hair splitting masterpiece "at least six months." Honestly, it wouldn't be very good news if it wasn't new when it was published, would it? So lets say Didio sat on it for a little while and somehow, it doesn't get leaked out. Would he sit on it for a year and half? Why? If you're going to tell me all I've proven is its been at least six months, you should explain your logic in assuming its been more. Or better yet, why don't you go find an article two years old saying that Geoff and Grant are entering into contracts as creative consultants. I won't enter into a debate with you about my personal theories and interpretations because they are diametrically opposed to yours, you get very nasty and I don't enjoy it. And you know what? Unlike you, I believe that your POV is valid and plausible, I just don't share it. So I'm really not very motivated to participate in a heated discussion about an issue I'm just not all that passionate about. But hey, why don't you call me wrong a few more times, roll your eyes and tell me how contemptible my post is.
  19. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew? Not admitting you may have misinterpreted what I said or (god forbid) misremembered something and instead obfuscating the point by making derisive commentary is weaksauce. (and rolling your eyes is just silly) And making a conjecture based on past behavior is not putting words into your mouth. This is:
  20. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew? Please, if they said it once you'd be saying the same thing. And what do you mean by "old comics fans?" Physically old or length of collecting? I've been collecting for twenty years and I believe that DC is heading in a new direction. Have you ever heard the phrase "It's always darkest before the dawn?"
  21. Re: All-New Iron Age Zoo Crew? That sounds like a personal taste issue and since I don't like Teen Titans either, I'll agree with you on Titans. But I like what Johns is doing in Crisis. (And I think I will nevermind how illogical the DNA thing is... ... even if you won't) That's what I was referring to. I've read articles saying they've been planting the seeds for the Crisis since two years ago, not that Johns has been officially charged with leading the DCU into a new creative direction.
  22. Re: Power Construction: Spreadable Plague My only contention remains that he specifically stated he wanted his players to be able to resist it, I'm going to assume that if they don't bother with ego, I doubt they bothered with any exotic defenses like power defense.
  23. Re: Golden Age Day Jobs Did you ever check that series out? Mark Waid wrote it, good stuff. Barry Kitson draws I think.
