  1. Re: Takofanes, where is he?

Yep, when a new MC shard is created (either from population increase, or server reset) Takofanes and the 13 heroes are 'up'. The Heroes are then on a 30 min timer, and Takofanes is on a 6hour timer from their defeat.

I second SvZurich's suggestion of the Takofanes_spawn channel, but be prepared for a lot of spam! I don't think T spawns for more than about 4 mins at peak times now, before the Zombie-foxbat hunters are all over him. If your just after the perk it's really the only way to have a chance at catching him.

  2. Re: Technical: Game Controller

I'm using the wired Xbox controller, so all it took was to load the software and plug it in. The game automatically recognised it was there and mapped the default bindings.

Don't know what issues a 3rd party controller will have, but the official forums are great for support on controller issues I've found.

  3. Re: Respecing Might based on Test Server notes

    I'm the opposite :)

I took rank increases on my main abilities (invul, uppercut, thunderclap) first. I figure if I'm using them all the time they might as well be doing the extra damage. The special effects on Bountiful Chi and my energy builder are also there for 'everyday use'.

+threat abilities I leave to things like defensive combo which I don't use at all unless I'm facing a named boss.

It's a simple playstyle, but suits me fine.

  4. Re: List Your CO Heroes!

I finally remembered to take some half-decent pics of my heroes.

Maiden England (sorcerer) was based on Psylocke from the Xmen. Way back before she was turned into trashy ninja-chick, she actually had the bright idea to put on some decent armour to go out in. So retro-80's style with a twist!

Miss Adventure is just a simple classic outfit, for a simple classic brick type :)

  5. Re: Well Rounded Heroes

I think this thread may be slipping a bit from my original goal. This was meant more along the lines of power combinations such as Telepathy and Sorcery. Both share Presence as a recommended Stat but one focuses on Intelligence and the other Ego. Do these combinations blend well together?
You can absolutely share stats between different power sets. I've found that getting a 3rd 'primary' stat with Upgrades is not too difficult, so quite a few combinations work as long as they share some crossover.

Might/TK (str/con/ego) or Might/SB (str/con/dex) for example would prove much trickier to play than Might/darkness (str/con/end) - as might would (usually) stack +end anyway.

My sorcery char has taken some TP powers for support and seems to be working ok so far.

  6. Re: Respecing Might based on Test Server notes

Here is my build at lvl 29. I was fine with it for soloing, but then went into Dr.D's Robot Factory and got absolutely wrecked. Which was depressing.

    Build by championBuilder 0.2.2

    Download this Build here.

    Miss Adventure: Level 29 Champion

    Superstats:

    Level 5: Super Constitution

    Level 13: Super Strength

    Powers:

Level 1: Force Bolts -- Energy Refraction

    Level 1: Beatdown

    Level 5: Defensive Combo

    Level 5: Flight

    Level 8: Invulnerability -- Rank 2, Rank 3

    Level 11: Mighty Leap

Level 14: Uppercut -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Accelerated Metabolism

Level 17: Thunderclap -- Rank 2, Rank 3, Challenging Strikes

    Level 20: Force Shield

Level 23: Bountiful Chi Resurgence -- Resurgent Reiki

    Level 26:

    Level 29:

    Talents:

    Level 1: Superhuman

    Level 6: Mighty

    Level 9: Enduring

    Level 12: Physical Conditioning

    Level 15: Impressive Physique

    Level 18: Intimidating

    Level 21: Tireless

I normally run in and Thunderclap to AoE taunt and stun the Henchmen followed by 2 Uppercuts on Villains. Repeat and hope the henchmen don't do their backward shuffle until the big guy is down...

Probably going to take Resurgence for my 26 power, as Bountiful Chi sometimes just doesn't cut it with big damage spikes. But I really can't decide on any others and I'm just finding the 4 or 5 main powers are enough.

  7. Re: Escapist reviews CO.

Technically, he's correct when he says things like:

The only road in or out of Snake Gulch leads directly into the terrorist missile base next door. To the west of the amusement park is a post-apocalyptic wasteland / nuke testing grounds, which is next to the haunted Old West ghost town.
However, you have to understand it in the context of the progression. It sounds goofy if they are made out to be one continuous area, but there is a whole backstory that you only get by working your way through the missions over the course of 15 of so levels. And it's not like your walking straight from one area to the next, or getting quests for all over the map at the same time.

One of the great things I like is that there are so few zones. Coming from other MMOs where you have the 1-10 zone, the 11-20 zone, and so on. You never go back to them after you level up which seems like a big a waste of resources. In CO my lvl 9, 23, and 29 are all in Canada right now, but doing different areas. Keeps the zone chat active and hopefully promotes the sharing of help and advice.

I loved SG btw, the humour was a nice change from the gang warfare and mind control of MC, and provided a nice break before I got back into the 'serious' VIPER/gadroon stuff again.

  8. Re: Respecing Might based on Test Server notes

Love seeing other peoples builds like this, thanks for your comments! I didn't realise Resurgence scaled with Con and took Bountiful Chi for my healing.

I've got to ask (being a mid-20's might): how are you getting on with Clobber at higher levels?

I've never taken it (other than in the beta), and always gone for a ranged energy builder. Now I'm not a powergamer (got rid of sonic blaster just because it didn't feel right for the character), but I can't imagine how tricky it must be with Clobber.

  9. Re: Do you play CO as an MMO?

I would love to see lairs at lower levels. Not involved with quest chains, or stuff that makes them 'necessary' to run, but as an option if you want to just try out some teamwork, or get used to seeing what it's like as opposed to soloing to 40, then trying to learn it all at once.

My might character seems to be able to rock 2- or sometimes 3-man missions if I take it slow and pull carefully. On my sorcerer I so want to get some healing powers to see what their like, but I just can't spare the slots without suffering in solo play :(

As for ad-hoc teaming up, I offer whenever I can. Any escort or group missions I'll invite people who are hanging around the same area just to save us all time if nothing else :) Plus you get bonus exp from teaming up.
