  1. Yep you read that correctly. To give some detail, I'm currently running a champions game set during the current Olympic games. I need to come up with an Exhibition Team Sport being put on by the resident Aliens in my game universe: The Pleidian Planetary Alliance. I want something low tech, something that humans would actually be able to play. The alien version of Soccer, Volleyball, or Lacross. A team sport most def. I have a working concept but need some suggestions on fleshing it out and making it more interesting and exciting. Trigonometry: An arena game set on a multi-level mirror image field. The object of the game is to get a discus like object (Not a frisbee) into your opponents goal. However you must do so by making a bank shot of some kind. There are 5 players on each team, four runners and one guard. And that's all I have at the moment. Any suggestions? Love Always Xgoth
  2. Re: Historical Champions Haven't done it yet, but have most certainly thought about it. Champions: Gaslight, A superhero saga taking place in the London of Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, Sweeny Todd, Jack the Ripper and Ruyard Kipling. Three Words, Clockwork Gadeteer Baby!! Champions: The Blue and The Grey A Civil War era supers game. Champions: Seadogs The champions of the Golden Age of Piracy. The Supers would be the Guardians of the town of Port Royal Jamacia. Champions: Red October Communist heros fighting against the decadent forces of the corrupt Rominov regime Champions: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity Supers during the French Revolution. Just off the top of my head. *S* Love Always Xgoth
  3. I've been asked to do a Sequel!! Never done a sequel before and I'm both flattered and feeling a bit of pressure at the same time. I posted a several months ago how I was getting ready to run my first Champions game, which I thought Rocked, and apparently so did a few of my players as they are the ones who are asking to do it again. And what with the Summer games starting this week they asked if I could design a champions campaign around the Olympic events. Now to give some background, before the inevitable cry for help and plot ideas... LOGIC (League of International and Global Champions) is a UN sponsored team of supers consisting of 10 appointees representing various member nations and 1 neutral observer/advisor representing the Pleadian Planetary Alliance. Membership in LOGIC is set up in the same manner as the UN Security Council. There are 5 permanent seats in the group belonging to the US, UK, France, Russia and China. The other 5 seats are rotating memberships of two year duration, which can belong to any member country dependent on a majority vote by the 15 member UN Security Council. So in theory you could have 4 middle eastern nations represented at the same time or a majority of communist states in the group or even one to two potential rouge states as members. For example, North Korea, Iran and Iraq have all had operatives on the team in the past and Cuba just ended a term, being replaced by Australia. The membership terms are staggered as well in order to avoid a mass newbie situation. For example as set up at present...this is the first year of the Australian and Laos term in the group and the last year of the Namibian, Irish, and Czech term The observer post which belongs to the Pleadian Alliance rep rotates every 5 years, and is currently held by D'Terra Kim who is in the middle of her term. Now as of our last game the Membership Roster was as follows. 1) Representing The United States of America Captain Jack Madison: Code Name, Jack Rabbit (Speedster/Team Pilot) 2) Representing The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Lord Peter Blane, the 13th Baron Oldswater: Code Name, Gargoyle. (Flying Brick) 3) Representing The French Republic Dominique Janelle LaCroix: Code Name, The Maid (Demi Brick) 4) Representing The Peoples Republic of China Xiang Zhong: Code Name, Red Tiger (Martial Artist/Gadeteer) 5) Representing The Russian Federation Ilyana Vlasov: Code Name, Ursa Major (Shapeshifter/Animal Control) 6) Representing The Commonwealth of Australia Martin Morgan: Code Name, Bommerang (Reflective) 7) Representing The Republic of Ireland Sean O'Reily: Code Name, Green Man (Plant Control) 8) Representing The Republic of Namibia Theo-Ben Shafishuna: Code Name, Kalahari (Elemental) 9) Representing The Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamtai Lengsavat: Code Name, Emerald Buddah (Mentalist/Healer) 10) Representing The Czech Repubic Jiri Dvorak: Code Name, Alchemist (Mystic/Potion Master) 11) Representing The Pleadian Planetary Alliance D'Terra Kim: Code Name, Off-Worlder (Alien) The chars that I have returning for this run are as follows. 1) The United States of America: Jack Rabbit 2) The French Republic: La Pucelle du Orleans (The Maid of Orleans) 3) The Russian Federation: Ursa Major 4) The Republic of Namibia: Kalahari 5) The Pleadian Planetary Alliance: Off-Worlder Now my questions are these. A) Any suggestions for a NPC hero native to Greece who would be serving as a liason between Logic and the Greek Goverment and who is a non deity pls. Looking for an older NPC who is fairly low powered (by comparison) but who can still be used as a handy plot device. Any really neat plot ideas for a campaign based around the Olympic Games? C) Any suggestions on how to run a sequel as I've never done one before? Thank you and feel free to comment on the team concept as well..always looking for feedback on the world setting and continunity and all that. Crunch is fun but fluff is funner *S* Love Always Xgoth

    Ship Naming

I did a space opera game once where we had 7 "Classes" of ships each named after one of the continents. you know Africa class fighter, Asia class carrier Europe class cruiser etc etc and each ship in that class was named after a particular country or city on that particular continent. Flagships of each fleet were named after countries and the fleet ships were cities. love always xgoth
  5. Hey mates, Why is it that what seem like the simplest char concepts are the hardest to build...well maybe it's just me but none the less. Anyway, here's the concept. Boomerang: Australian Super. The Char has one power, only one, he can create a reflective energy barrier around himself or around a small group of people that can absorb energy and reflect it back wherever the char wants. So in theory Storm comes along and blasts Boomerang with a lightning bolt...the energy crackles around the char for a second or two and BAM! right back at her. A solider unloads a round of bullets at the char with an AK47, the bullets swirl around the shield and Blammo back at ya. Superman attempts to punch the char, the force of the blow is absorbed into the sheild and Boomerang can then hit back with the same amount of force. And finally one nifty little trick the Player wants is something along the line of...the char is knocked off the roof of a 65 story sky scraper and as he hits the ground, the reflective field absorbs the force of impact and the char then redirects the energy allowing him to bounce back to the top of the building to continue kicking butt. So...how would you go about building that and what limitations would you suggest to prevent the power from being too abusive. One thing that I am insisting on myself is that energy can only be stored up for only a few moments...no storing up for later. Thank you. Xgoth

    Super Pope?

Well in my champion game, slated for take off this Sat btw. One of our chars is the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, a Demi-brick with access to a few miracles of her own. We also have a Psionic Buddist Priest in the group as well. So I have no prob with faith based chars or herotypes. It's always interesting to see how the Druid, Crusader, Hindu and Greek God all work out their various differences. and btw...hero from the Holy See, smallest indenpent countries in the world....hmmm I think I have an idea for my first LOGIC Reserve member. *S*
  7. distinction needs to be made before the list gets too large. In broadcast media SF, there's a difference between a "race" (which are human-like aliens) and a "monster" (which are all those aliens that have no human commonality). Creatures like the Space Amoeba (from Star Trek) or the Bandersnatchi (from Larry Niven's Known Universe novels) are more rightly called "monsters." Their place in the story is to act in unknowable ways to advance the plot. "Races" are usually in there to point up some foible of humanity; a classic example is the Kzinti (again from Larry Niven's Known Universe novels) whose purpose is to make explicit points about the nature of human aggression. If we're going to call them Archetypes, we have to go beyond mere physical details... Absolutely...What I refer to as an Alien Race I suppose might be more appropriately called an Alien culture. An entire civilation seemlingly built on a single core theme, concept, dogma, belief, philosophy etc. Though some Archetype cultures may overlap in some areas the core should be fairly easily identified. One thing that has alway struck me is that no matter the sci-fi program, a Klingon is a Klingon is a klingon. A Vulcan is a Vulcan. A Minbari is a Minbari and a Vorlon is just engimatic. Considering the wide variety of difference on our on planet...you'd think there would be varierty culturally on some others. But of course if that were the case then this thread would be moot now wouldn't it *S* I'll start with the easiest def... Bushidos = Noble Warrior Races. Death before Dishounor, Strong Family/Ancestoral/Terrorial ties, Intergalatic Samurai, Vikings in Space. The Noble Savages of the Cosmos and amongst the most often misunderstood. Don't play well with others. Often times very advanced tech-wise but still hold a heavy reliance on the old ways. Prime Example= Klingons, Wookies, Narns
  8. Hey mates, this may be a topic more app for the Star Champions board but what the heck, right. I'm posting this here as it's a psuedo continuation of my international super team thread. I'm trying to compile a list of all the Stock Alien Races Archtypes used in both the Sci-fi and Supers genres, in order to help the player of the Pleadian Planetary Alliance rep of our upcoming capaign. So far what we've come up with is the following. Ancients: Asgard and Vorlons Bushidos: Klingons, Luxans and Narns. Decadents: Centauri Logicals: Vulcans. Machines: Bynars and Borg Mystics: Minbari, Bajorans and Delvians Symbiotic: Trill and Go'auld Any other additionals or examples you can think of pls feel free to add. Love Always Xgoth

    Iconography

Iconic weapons you ask... I got three and they all belong to the same hero...see if you can guess who. Tiara Bracelets Lasso and how iconic are they, well I've never seen a cowboy themed hero use a lasso Love Always Xgoth
  10. Again thanks for the input mate. As far as world / ethnic diversity is concerned it really isn't that huge a thing really when you think about how the group is set up in the long run. Membership in LOGIC is set up in the same manner of the UN Security Council. There are 5 permanent seats in the groups belonging to the US, UK, France, Russia and China. The other 5 seats are rotating memberships of two year duration, which can belong to any member country dependent on a majority vote of 15 member UN Security Council. So in theory you could have 4 middle eastern nations represented or a majority of communist states in the group or even one to two potential rouge states as members, for example, North Korea, Iran and Iraq have all had operatives on the team in the past and Cuba just ended a term, being replaced by Australia. The membership terms are staggered as well to avoid a mass newbie situation. For example as set up at present...this is the first year of the Australian and Laos term in the group and last year of the Namibian, Irish, and Czech term Then there is the observer post which belongs to the Pleadian Alliance rep which rotates every 5 years, currently held by D'Terra Kim who is in the middle of her term. 11. I had the exact same reaction on this very board when someone suggested the name orginally due to this particular character's origin/history and to the player herself when she decided on it. But the name is historically and culturally accurate. Soliders serving under Joan of Arc from what I understand and people in France today still refer to Joan of Arc as the Maid of Orleans or simply The Maid...and yes she uses the French Version of the Name and for that matter all the chars use the Native form of their Super Code Names, for example Emerald Buddah = Phra Kaeo in Laos. Now I have four options for super villians / opposition forces for the team and I can't determine which is the better choice. 1) A Rouge World Dominiation Para-MIlitary Organization ala SPECTRE 2) An Evil All Powerful Mega-Corp ala Microso...umm Lex-Corp 3) A Shadowy Historical Psuedo Mystical/Regilous Secrect Society ala the Knights Templar or Skull and Bones 4) An Conquest focused Evil Star Empire ala the Go'uald System Lords. 5) All the above. ohh and one more thing...any advice on how best to run a Champions Campaign for 11 players...this is my largest group ever...up to now my personal record was 5 players at any one time...but now I've ended up with 11 (Says volumes about this particuar genre) and man am I feeling the pressure. Love Always Xgoth P.S. Bios to be forthcoming *S*
  12. Count... Really enjoyed your web-page...nicely done mate. Loved the world timeline you put up as well btw. actually it gave me a few ideas. Now here's a quick update...I picked up two new players this week. Yahoo! So that means I wont have to be running a npc member of LOGIC after all. But it also means that a slight change has taken place in the group itself. LOGIC now consists of 11 members, 5 permanent countries represented, 5 rotating countries and 1 neutral observer member (our new Alien visitor and intergalatic ambassador). I mentioned the observation made by you good folk about the lack of third world countries and my players took note...I'm shocked really, they never listen to me when I bring up things like this usually. but anyway, the membership roster now appears thusly. 1) Representing The United States of America Captain Jack Madison: Code Name, Jack Rabbit (Speedster/Pilot) 2) Representing The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Lord Peter Blane, the 13th Baron Oldswater: Code Name, Gargoyle. (Flying Brick) 3) Representing The French Republic Dominique Janelle LaCroix: Code Name, The Maid (Demi Brick) 4) Representing The Peoples Republic of China Xiang Zhong: Code Name, Red Tiger (Martial Artist/Gadeteer) 5) Representing The Russian Federation Ilyana Vlasov: Code Name, Ursa Major (Shapeshifter/Animal Control) 6) Representing The Commonwealth of Australia Martin Morgan: Code Name, Bommerang (Reflective) 7) Representing The Republic of Ireland Sean O'Reily: Code Name, The Green Man (Plant Control) 8) Representing The Republic of Namibia Theo-Ben Shafishuna: Code Name, Kalahari (Elemental) 9) Representing The Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamtai Lengsavat: Code Name, The Emerald Buddah (Mentalist/Healer) 10) Representing The Czech Repubic Jiri Dvorak: Code Name, Alchemist (Mystic/Potion Maker) 11) Representing The Pleadian Planetary Alliance D'Terra Kim: Code Name, Off-Worlder (Alien) I have bio's if anyone is interested...If you can't tell I'm really getting all jazzed about my first hero/champions campaign Love Always Xgoth
  13. From Sudan Ali Diriage aka Basenji - canine-like hunter and brawler Hey Thanks...I like this one...consider it stolen that's a great super name. yeah i noticed after everyone put in their final submissions that we were way short on the 3rd world nations but I was for suffering from writers block. So again that you. The whole idea is really coming along nicely...we already have a few in jokes. Due to the name of the group, the main computer/AI in headquarters is known as SPOCK and the orbiting satelite is SAREK. Now all I have to do is design HQ, the team uniform and the archvillian and we got a game *S* Love Always Xgothgrrl
  14. Okay so here's the concept this particular team of heros works offically works under the control of the United Nations...but in reality they tend to act rather independentally of UN resolutions and of course national loyality also plays a big role in the group as well. Each hero is appointed by their home goverment and approved by a special vote of the UN security council. The team consists of 10 heros w/ five countries permanently represented (US, UK, France, Russia and China) and five rotating countries each appointed with two year memberships. I have 9 players at present and they have filled out most of the group but I still have a 10th slot open to be filled with a NPC and I'm stuck for an idea. So I was hoping you folks would look over the current membership roster and come up with some suggestions for both country and archetype. Ohh and a general rewiew of the concept in general. Thank you. Love Always Xgothgrrl Code Name: LOGIC (League of Global and International Champions) From the United States of America Captain Jack Madison aka Jack Rabbit...Speedster/Leapster From the Republic of Ireland Sean O'Reily aka The Green Man...Plant Control From the French Republic Dominique Janelle LaCroix aka The Maid...Demi Brick (Joan of Arc reincarnation) From the United Kingdom Peter Blane aka Gargoyle...Flying Brick/Earth Control Powers From the Czech Republic Jiri Dvorak aka Alchemist...Mystic From the Russian Federation Ilyana Vlasov aka Ursa Major...Animal Control/Shape Shifter From the United Mexican States Alejandro Del la Vega aka Dolrado...Blaster (Solar F/X) From the Commonwealth of Australia Martin Morgan aka Bommerang...Reflective/Absortion Powers From the Peoples Republic of China Xiang Zhong aka Red Tiger...Martial Artist/Mentalist From the _____ _______ _______ aka ________ ... _________
  15. the maid, hmm my only concern would be the inevitable villian given nick names... ohh look the French Maid, come to clean house...well I'll dust her ruffle for her...once and for all! *Evil laughter* Love always Xgoth
  16. hello all, two part question for you. 1) Got an idea for an all-american patriot char. A female hero who can create two dupilicates of herself for a total of three heros. Her single persona costume is made up of three equal sized vertical stripes of red, white and blue. Her multiform costumes are soild colours of the same. Now, I was wondering can dupilicates have different powers than the orginal or do all dupes have to have the same power and or sfx? I see the char as a energy blaster type, whose sfx are stars (red) Stripes (Blue) and something in the same vein for white, but I'm short on ideas. Also any suggestions for such a char? 2) looking for a good name for a french demi-patriot who is the modern re-incarnation/inheritor of Joan of Arc. Any suggestions? thank you.. xgothgrrl
  17. http://www2.warnerbros.com/superhero/sweepstakes.html many will enter, only one will win. get your hero drawn in an offical DC comic and win a trip for two to tour DC headquarters... Thought you would like to know. Love Always Xgothgrrl
  18. The idea of corporate backing or even government support is attractive, but difficult to realize. The first time a hero or heroes do something that incurs the negative publicity of the media, their funding is cut, or they're censured. You see that's exactly why you need a good agent...or PR guy working for. Even superheroes need spin doctors *S* xgothgrrl
  19. Honey...that's just brilliant...I Have to say...simply brilliant! Actually you've helped give inspiration to insurance claims adjuster I've just come up with. I'm sorry Mr. Gates but after carefully reviewing your policy I'm afraid we are not going to be able to pay out your claim. What do you mean, not pay out?! Well, It's all very clear Sir. You see your policy specifically covers you for damagers occured by Mutants, Extraterristals and Radioactive monsters; Thor, son of Odin would fall under the catagory of deity and you are simply not covered for that. That's complete bullshite Whitworth, it states right here in black and white...acts of God, and if Thor does no apply to that, then I don't kno.... Mr. Gates that's God with a Big G, not a little g. Again I am sorry, but we have made our desicion Sir. Good day. *S* Xgoth
  20. Ohh I just have to ask, how does your agent solicate for clients? Do they come to her or does she listen to the police bands so she can show up at the scene of battle, business card in hand? I would love to hear her sales pitch. Stick with me kid, and this time next week I'll have your face on every box of wheaties in the country. Love Always xgothgrrl
  21. As my troupe and I continue to work on our upcoming capaign, I'm trying to add a bit of real world commerical realism to our setting. So I was wondering something...how the heck does your average non wealthy superhero manage to stay gainfully employed? I mean most ultra-villians don't tend to respect the 9-5 mon-fri work week, so unless the super is a CEO or a waiter at bennigan's...it seems to me that the saving the world sideline could put quite the damper on one's day to day job options. So where does that leave our gallant heros?Coporate endorments, Services for hire, Goverment contracts. charitable orginazations?? Also I started to wonder, in a world where superheros and villians did exsist what types of companies would be around to make money off their presence? For example...lawyers. Datalynx a computer megacorp, has it's world wide headquarters in Metropolis and during a battle between Superman and Soloman Grundy the 42nd floor of the Datalynx tower is demolished due to Superman defecting a gasoline truck that the Grey skined Cajun hurled at him and this only three weeks after having to repair a caved-in rooftop and heliopad which was damaged by a rampaging and ultraleaping hulk. Now could Datalynx sue the Son of Krypton for damages or would their superhero insurance take care of it? And going back to corporate sponsors..can you imagine an agency out there just for superheros? They could provide a whole range of services for the caped ones, everything from PR, to endorsements, to legal repersentation and dry cleaning. Can anyone else think of any companies or enterprises that could benifet from the presence of superheros in the world? And what would be a good name for a "Sport's Agency" For Supers...think Arliss working for Hmmm Flash, Wolverine, Spiderman, and Beast Boy. Love Always xgoth
  22. First of all, thanks for all the advice and suggestions. Looking over the char, yep...some rewrites are in order. Does member of Bathory Family(Frequent) really come up more often than Romany/Gypsy(occasional) in your character's area? I'd have to say yes...absolutely, yes. That would be the first thing anyone woud pick up on, when Elisabeth is introduced to them. That she is a member of the Bathory family...a direct decendent of one of the most notrorious figures in history, not to mention named after said ancestor. *S* It's would be like having the last name Dracula, or Frankenstein. A big hurdle to jump. The gyspy connection only comes into play, really when the first hurdle is crossed...ohh not only is she related to a Countess who use to bathe in the blood of slaughtered virgins but she's part gyspy also...Well I never! I was reading it as more of a blast that has no real solidity, and thus would be incapable of causing physical trauma. Maybe it can do no body only to the living or to inanimate objects, but can tear the ethereal and other undead to gobbets. Actually that is exactly how I envisioned that particular power (Spirit Bolt). Able to stun (And maybe Knockback) Mortals, but capable of ripping ghosts into whispy strands of ectoplasm. Third Telepathy probably shouldn’t have the Affects Desolid advantage since most desolids don’t protect against metal powers. Only if ‘ghosts’ are commonly defined as having the 60 point version of desolidification should this stay … and since her desolid doesn’t protect her from mental powers it seemed like ghosts wouldn’t have this protection either. Actually, I had not even thought of that, but you make an excellent point. Since I stated that Wraith is vunerable to mental attacks, stands to reason that ALL true ghosts would also be vunerable to them. Now with that rationale...wouldn't the above also apply to Telekensises and Ego Attack...if so I should be able to drop the "Affects Desoild" modifier and save myself a few points. Fourth, *none* of her attacks, with the exception of telepathy or maybe the images work on normal folks when she is desolid. As is she is either invulnerable and can’t do much except move or she is wide open to any sort of attack and can do a fair amount. Actually I wrote it up like that on purpose, as I fig being able to have real world affecting powers while desoild was a HUGE advantage and may be unbalancing...however, taking the above thinking concerning mental powers a step further...would it matter when using TK, Telepathy, or Ego Attack, whether you were desoild or not, as none of those powers are psyhical in nature anyway? And finally...I'm trying to endow this char with all the traditional haunted house powers usually associated with ghosts...hence the reason for Images..however...one question...since images are merely illusions, am I correct in assuming they do no actuall damage? If so...can someone tell me what possible use that power has...other than eye candy? Wraith's images have the limitation of being ghostly in nature...ie: Transparent and etheral. And where I like the idea..I do wonder about the practical use of such a power in the grand scale of things. Thank you Xgothgrrl
  23. Okay after attending a new years eve party where part of the entertainment was watching a Iron Chef marathon combined with my new found interest in Champions...I've come up with a little challenge for you folks...cause the show itself simply screams for this particular treatment. Let's face it...Thank God for Kitchen Stadium...otherwise Chairman Kaga would be plotting the complete takeover of the world on some secret island base somewhere, stroking a white cat, while 007 planned his downfall. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During the final climatic episode of Iron Chef, a metorite comes streaking out of the heavens and strikes the heart of Kitchen Stadium! It's strange extra-terrestial radiation endows each of the Iron Chefs with strange and wondrous powers far beyound those of Mortal Men. Now led by the enigmatic telepath Chairman Kaga, the Ultimate Champions of Culinary Skill use their gastronomic superpower to wage a never ending battle against the forces of evil and fast food across the globe. They are: Iron Chef French: Sakai Hiroyuki Iron Chef Chinese: Chen Kenichi Iron Chef Japanese: Morimoto Masaharu and Iron Chef Italian: Kobe Masahiko Together they are the hope of Mankind...they are the Iron Chefs!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pls build each hero accordingly using a standard 350 point spread...Have fun! Love Always xgoth
