What would a university that instructs in the ways of magic look like? Hogwarts is for kids. Where does star pupil Hermione go after Hogwarts? She could go to Magus University! In this draft you will select professors, departments, students, and more! Inspired more by Unseen University than Hogwarts, this is your chance to exorcise those academic demons and reform them into something productive. 
 
Magus University exists in the modern world, though the exact geographic location is unknown (at this point). For this draft you may select real people*. Most selections will be comprised of two elements: person and role. Selection rules are as follows:
 
Location. For this draft, location will be your academic department and the dean. This selection must be first.  Faculty & Staff.  Two professors in the department and their specialty.  One other university staff member. (Examples below) * Students. They come in all shapes and sizes, but they need to fill these three roles. The Star Pupil. Maybe they're the teacher's pet, maybe their IQ is off the charts, or maybe they're just a natural. The Freshman. Completely new to Magus and kind of lost. Full of potential (or so they think). The Grad Student. Maybe they're an aide, maybe they're just not ready for the real world. They're the reason caffeine exists.  Options. Please fill out the university using the following options.  More Faculty & Staff, more Students.  Distinguished alumni (honored or outcast) "I didn't know they went here!" Can be from another department. 
Distinguishing campus landmark. A striking edifice, a named construction, a statue, or use this to select the exact geographic location (including extended campus locations). 
Other campus highlight. A school or department trophy, notable invention(s), team mascot, school paper, etc. 
 
 
*I don't think it's necessary, but in case you need ideas for staff: President/Headmaster, bursar, security, head librarian, maintenance, newspaper editor, coach, etc. Some positions will be unique though some can be used more than once. If you have a question, ask ahead. 
 
At the end of the draft, we will have our customary poll, but this one will be to determine which department should be granted the prestigious Prospero Foundation Grant for Excellence!

Excellent! Glad to see this again, even if my own participation may be limited.
 
(I only just got my phone able to post here and I'm so bedridden for most part.)

This really hit me hard because I'm going through the end of this story right now. 
 
I'm watching my step-father go through the same. He suffered a few minor strokes a few weeks ago. He's been dealing with prostate cancer for a decade and the last round of radiation treatments did f' all and so the plan was to comfort him and start hospice when it looked like it was time. We (the kids) all gathered for Thanksgiving this year, and dad, unable to talk well was vibrant and laughing taking part in the telling of tales where he could and miming when he couldn't find the words. He seemed to be getting better...at least his speech.
 
A week later he's had another stroke and is now confined to a wheelchair and the planned party for his 85th birthday on the 11th might not happen. 
 
I'm sad.  Sorry to show up only to  whine.

Damn it. I remember him best not as a smart ass parrot , but as one of the late night hosts of USA Up All Night. He always had that look 'you couldn't find anything better to watch huh?' on his face, with a touch of 'me? I'm getting paid'  He came across as obnoxious, irritating, and oddly likable.
 
What he was like in Real life, I  do not know, and maybe it's best because he SEEMED nice and I hate to have that ruined. But condolences to his family
