None.  Absolutely no chance that the Obama administration was going to indict his party's nominee for the presidency.  Zero.  It doesn't matter how much she lied (Comey's testimony before the Senate proves she did, repeatedly) or how incompetent and sloppy she was at minimum.  The party comes first for both parties.  That's the system: them vs us.

Last day on the job and a Brinks officer gets shot during an attempted robbery. Not counting the human element, mass confusion and chaos ensued. Counting the human element, a poor guy just doing his job is currently in critical condition. Sometimes this world really pisses me off. I hope the officer has a full recovery. I would probably be violating board policy if I offered my wishes for the perp. Scumbag. I guess there's nothing more to say.

Voice acting is where I found my happy spot with this game. It is a trivial detail to some, but Jennifer Hale is the voice actress for the female Republic Trooper. Hands down, she is my favorite video game voice actress ever. Her highlights include the female Commander Shepherd from Mass Effect and Bastila Shan from Knights of the Old Republic. I absolutely love how much venom she can inflect in an insult. I ended up deleting all of my characters from my pre-absence period, save for my first Jedi Knight (Guardian). While I was testing out character gender, I discovered Jennifer Hale's voice and knew where I was going to be putting all of my effort at. I started her less than 48 hours ago and got her up to level 22. I've killed a lot of time crafting, now that I've figured out the process. So, for the moment, I am happily grinding through levels.

I just wish I could have less "-420-Darth Butterballz-69-" and more lore friendly (or at least neutral) names running past me.

This week I have been at my job a year.   I will be offered different insurance, so that is goint to require research, but...
New job role training last week.  Today I took my WA state insurance agent exam.   I was worried, but scored a LOT better than I feared, and so now I will make more money at work...

I just celebrated my 22nd anniversary on Wednesday. While not "awesome," there is a great amount of happiness there.

Today, just moments ago, I got my copy of Star Wars: Force and Destiny. I picked up the beginner game a couple of weeks back and was so impressed that I ordered the full rules. That thing has nearly the heft of the first Hero 5th book (not revised). I am looking forward to cracking it open.

Now to find a group that won't flake.....

I don't know if 'all' the story arcs are worth completing - I've earned my Legendary status but some of the stories were just brutal. Sith Sorcerer, Jedi Consular, and Smuggler I wouldn't repeat.  Probably not Bounty Hunter either.

Voice acting quality plays a factor - I'd know in the first hour or two if I could stand the gender I chose's voice to the end.  I basically only made it through Consular because of the female voice actor - she sounds a lot like my wife. Which is funny because the male Consular is Nolan North, who I usually like as a voice actor, but couldn't stand him in TOR and deleted 3 poor Jedi trying to.

The current expansion and current monthly mini-chapters are pretty well done, though (though I disliked one) - IF you're a Force User. Very clever sub retention ploy - my friend is being smart about it and coming back after this 'season' is complete to play them all in a weekend instead of paying $15 month by month if it's the only thing he's interested in doing.

Well, I guess at the end of the day they still left a few frames free for Flash special effects in the murder house for when he has to run back in time and change what happened that night *again*.

"Ok, ok! Places people! Reverse Flash, you come in from the right and try and kill her.  Flash number 1 - come in and save Young Barry. Put up your hand to ward off Flash number 2 before saving us.  Flash 3 - now you come in and deck Reverse Flash in the snozz.  Ok, Flash 2 - your part of the plan now is instead of getting closure by holding her in her dying moments and letting her know we're safe you get erased from history. Cool? Cool.  Alright since we ALL know how well stopping the murder worked out we're on to Flash 4 - attack Flash before he decks Reversie.  Flash's 6 and 7 - intercept Flash 5 when he changes his mind again.  Flash 8 through 10 - watch out for Jay and Wally this time."

"Remember, people, half of us are time remnants now so Flash 11 and 12 - you're wraith bait.  Let's move, we only have infinite more times we can do this to get it right!"

The problem with power-gaming situations like these is that the results become so bloody boring. Why would I bother to watch a show where all of my favorites are killed off just to prove how powerful the villain is? What do you do for an encore? Perhaps, some of the flaws in the story are really genre tropes:

Sadly I have had a lot of experience with unemployment. Get into a routine that forces you to get up every morning. If you need to make phone calls you want to catch people before their day gets out of hand. Work your (human) network--of the seven jobs I've had since the eighties, six of them I got through referrals. (The seventh was because I'd put my resume out on all the job sites and a headhunter found me.)

And take advantage of your "vacation", but productively. Work out, fix up the house, take a class. You won't have time for any of that once you're starting a new job.

And good luck. Remember: you are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank, you're not the car you drive, you're not the contents of your wallet, you are not your khakis.

Hey Rose, I'm still alive and kicking. eepjr has inspired me lately to revisit the HERO material by persistently grinding through Fantasy HERO material, and I've been making some mechanical improvements to the site here and there, so I still have a hand in the HERO jar but I'm no where as active as I once was.

Long story short, my wife and I had another baby a couple of years ago, and that, plus work, other kid, etc, I just don't have the free time I used to have. I started using Fate and Fate Accelerated for my (seldom) game sessions mostly due to the greatly lessened time it takes to work up material.

I still love the HERO System and it is still my favorite game system of all time. Just, y'know, life happens.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? Long story short, it was my handle for Mechwarrior a very long time ago, that I then used to replace a different handle I had used for years that I discovered was very similar to one used by a hacker with a bad reputation. It just sort of became my net persona, unintentionally.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Actual table top was D&D Red Box; I was 10. But my real intro to the hobby was Joe Dever's Lone Wolf; if that hadn't of hooked me I would not have been interested when the opportunity to play D&D was offered.
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Also D&D Red Box.
What are you currently playing/GMing? My Pathfinder Fate Accelerated hack, though on an extremely spread out schedule. We play every now and then when the stars align, usually in bursts of a few sessions. Over the last year I've also played in some one offs of Edge of Empire, Pathfinder, and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, and we play a lot of board and card games. Netrunner, Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, Warhammer Quest, Descent, Sentinels of the Multiverse, and Smashup most recently. I'm currently looking forward to the new Netrunner Mainframe board game, and the Sentinels of the Multiverse Oblivaeon kickstarter.

I'm sick and tired of romantic vampires and noble werewolves. I don't want my witches to be hippy Earth lovers. I don't need the creation of my modern Prometheus to be some sort of misunderstood hero. I want my monsters back. I want the very words "Vampire," "Werewolf," "Witch," and "Frankenstein" to send a shiver up the spine of little ones. I don't want to see garish caricatures of my monsters dangling from little strings around Halloween.

Another random comment, railing at the over-saturation of what previously used to be horrific but has since become an amusement. Does anybody else remember when a monster movie came out, it was an event? Everybody would talk about it and mostly get it wrong. These days it's more like "Honey, should we watch the cute animated show with the rabbit police officer or go see Noble Vampire III: Undead Lives Matter?" Bah!

I corresponded with Killer Shrike a couple of months back over at rpg.net. I was inquisitive about FATE and he pointed me to his Pathfinder Fate Accelerated hack. As with all things Killer Shrike, he put a lot of creative energy and heart into fleshing out FAE into a really awesome resource. I got the impression that KS was a little burnt on Hero and was taking a break. He never explicitly stated as much, but context clues and all.

I use an ad blocker, originally because I can't stand to have flashing stuff in my face when I'm attempting to read a page*, but now because of the malware risk that they represent. Flash player is similarly set to only play if I let it, and I'm using a plugin to automatically pause video so that I don't get surprises when I open a link. I have whitelisted a few sites who run polite ads (usually static ones), and I've paid for subscriptions on a few sites to avoid ads altogether. As for links that I follow to sites which refuse to show me stuff because I have an ad blocker, well, I guess that I don't really need to read that page, and they don't get any of my views.

*There are a few bloggers on the Gawker websites who insist on putting crappy animated GIFs every paragraph or so in their stories. There is a special place in Hell for them (and it probably involves Hulk Hogan).

    Yeah no.
Drastically changing the characters just to please the PC crowd is the wrong move. Marvel has been so successful thus far because they have been pretty faithful to the core concepts and iconic images of their characters. That is a formula they should stick to.
