I think the lashing out in this case is even stronger because there is a perceived lack of voice.  It's not just a matter of others cutting in line, it's a matter of being sidelined entirely, or, again, the perception of it.

Examples I have heard and to some degree agree with but I think are oversimplified:

Illegal Immigrants are breaking the law. Point this out, or even use the term "illegal" and you may be listed a racist and any further argument on your part dismissed. Me? I'm more angry with corporations on this subject than I am the individuals but that won't save me if someone decides ANY Problem with illegal immigration means bigotry.

Some are angry about the PC movement for the same reason. It seems to many that terms White Privilege is used less and less for "Many minorities suffer historical disadvantages that have affected the current day and more" for "If you are a straight white male-shut up". The term comes across as being used to shut down discourse instead of actually getting one going; however noble the original intent behind it.

Oh, and racist doesn't mean racist anymore. it means YOU a white guy can be racist. Because someone has decided to redefine it so that only you can really be a racist since only YOU have the power. (Stated as fact, and you can't even debate the nature of power without a label on your forehead). It does smack suspiciously of rigging the discourse.

Oh, stagnant wages in the city are a problem...
but you know those rural and suburban folks are just hilarious when they gripe about it and should shut up.

And if your job is obsolete, why don't you just take go get a college degree in something useful? As if it were that easy, or even always possible (Again, PERCEPTION)

The general feeling I get from many  is if you shut folks out of a conversation and turn that conversation into a 24/7 Lecture, one utterly lacking good faith, don't be surprised if they get up and walk away.

And don't be surprised if some scam artist like trump curries their favor by pretending HE hears them and won't scoff.

Again, I'm talking PERCEPTION as much as facts (Which are often multilayered and complicated).. I think the curse of America 2017  is we have most of the population wearing tunnel vision goggles. Honest to god, if the middle class and down minorities and the middle class whites could lift those and look around, they might eat the rich or at least the bankers and CEOs of fortune 500 companies

    But that's another gripe.

And I don't want to go 100 Marx

Barring Groucho, NEVER go 100 Marx

EDIT: And excuse the many typos and worse. I used to know English. I really did.

Battlegrounds (aka BRPG) is another VTT you might want to consider for non-remote gaming. Although it is inherently system-agnostic, BRPG should appeal to Hero System gamers in particular, as Battlegrounds has long supported the system's unique turn sequencing mechanics, Hero System dice, and dice-rolling mechanics such as rolling vs. target numbers, Stun/Body damage, die removal for explosion damage, etc.

Besides maps and tokens, the program also supports visual aids and audio (i.e., sound effects & music).

Unlike Arrow and Flash, Supergirl's season premiere was pretty good. It was not without flaws, but I invested more into the character than either of the other two. The character development happened a little fast. I think that progress might have been shown but the final scene could have waited until the end of next episode. That's a minor complaint though.

I think they blew the season's fx budget though. It seemed really crisp and cinematic quality. I love the opening where she comes out of her daydream and is floating high in the sky with her cape whipping and swirling about her. Talk about iconography.

I won't have any problem continuing with Supergirl. I hope the other two shows can salvage something worth watching but I am guessing that I will retire them soon. Shame when Riverdale was better than a superhero show. I mean, Riverdale! It's a story centered around the teen angst, soap opera crap that I really hate to watch, yet it manages to have a really engaging story despite that.

A little off the wall but potentially good for inspiration is the Secrets of the Kargatane website. It has many PDF files full of information. Most of it was for the Ravenloft setting but some was for Masque of the Red Death, which is more historical Earth horror. All of it can serve as a springboard for your imagination. The best part is that all of it is free.

The Gifted is a well-made show, I'll give it that. But I'm so tired of the villains being our own government. It seems that's the only thing Marvel can come up with these days. At least on Attilan, the conflict is Shakespearean in nature, and not stuck in a 1960s/1970s mindset.

At least in Agents of SHIELD, the KKK analog (the Watchdogs) was an independent terrorist organization. In The Gifted, the KKK analog is actually an official government agency with a name (Sentinel Services) meant to misleadingly allude to an organization dedicated to benign guardianship (Social Services). The former is more authentic (in my view), while the latter is more subversive and manipulative (and tiresome, at least for me).

The spies are almost impossible to detect given their fortuitous resemblance to terrestrial creatures that are routinely welcome in human society and homes.

So far only one spy has been identified. Information from the captured agent is scant as no one is willing to interrogate him.

I have learned to shut it out. Nowadays, TV and internet news are just there to put ads in your face and, secondarily, scare you towards policies that work in favor of the corporate masters. I got very sensitive to that nonsense a long time ago, and stopped watching most TV news back in the 1980s. I really resent being manipulated, and when some medium is dominated by manipulation attempts, it gets excluded from my personal universe. That simple. And all news editors, and most media personalities, are strongly biased toward trying to grab a slice of your time and attention. If you were to swap "blood" for "time and attention", the truth that those people are parasites becomes obvious. I prefer not to encourage parasites.

There is absolutely no question that I am happier for my decision to close out media that calls itself "news".

You can be adequately informed on issues that really matter by doing a more calm perusal on a less frequent basis. That forestalls a "rush to judgment" impulse and gives you a better chance of getting complete information, which is what you really need in the first place. Weekly is about as much as I can stand. Monthly is more than adequate. Semiannually is OK except in election years, when the ballot deadlines force your hand some.

The only possible exception to this is stuff like storm warnings and so on; if the tornado or hurricane is bearing down on you, then yeah, earliest possible notification is what you want. But those situations are peculiar to your circumstances and may not be relevant. (There are no such storms where I live; volcanic explosions do happen locally but they give weeks to months of notice. Earthquakes happen here too, and they are catastrophic, but we do not yet have a useful pronosticator for those.) If the President (or some foreign head of state) is going to be in your town that day, you probably want to know that, because it will seriously mess up the traffic and add much time to your daily commute, which can cause trouble if you're late for an appointment or a date.

Because it is allied to my profession and aligns with my personal interests, I choose to get daily science news updates. I actually read somewhat less than half of those that pop up in my email. I would say roughly once a year there's something in those that ought to be bumped up the priority list towards "most people should read this".

About the only daily feed item I almost stay on top of is some sports scores. But that again is entertainment, not news.

So yeah: reclaim your attention, time, and inner peace by keeping the babble sources switched off. You will be much, much happier for it, pretty much independent of your political stance or personal philosophy preferences.

I have been overall avoiding news and politics recently. For almost a month, I've just shut it out. It can't last forever, I realize, but the last month has seen a dramatic uptick in my overall happiness. There are other reasons, to be sure, but not watching news is one of them. It got to the point where I felt that the world is spinning out of control. I still feel that, acutely, when I do tune in to some news source or another. When I am out in the real world, I don't feel that same sense of dread. I think there is a very strong correlation there.

I could go on about the media, but that is drifting too close to political topics, which have their own thread. Besides, I'd rather go out and get some fresh air before going to bed.

Aside from that comics-based Scarlet Witch costume, which looks awesome on Elizabeth Olsen I might add, the problem with the others is not that they were colorful, but that they were poorly designed in all other respects. Those colorful takes on Hawkeye and Falcon look like someone spent all of five minutes putting together live-action prototypes.

Look, most of the time comics illustrations aren't providing a sense of the actual fabrics and materials used in the manufacture of the costumes. We really don't have any idea what the material of Captain America's shirt really looks or feels like based on comics illustrations. But for movies, real materials have to be selected and put in front of a camera. Select the wrong material, with the wrong thickness and flexibility profile, and it will just look ridiculous. More effort has to be put into it than we see in those examples (again, not counting the Scarlet Witch one which looks perfect to my eyes).

But there is no reason Hawkeye's costume can't have some purple and blue tones, and there's no reason Falcon's costume can't have lots of bright red and white in it. Obviously with Falcon they went with the military angle on his character and his costume, so naturally it is going to be constructed from drab military (non-)colors. But they didn't have to go that way, and in fact I would argue that they very specifically went with the Ultimates look just so they didn't have to figure out how to make a red and white version look good. It was merely the path of least creative effort. Tech is always easier to design and make look KEWL (nowadays) than couture.

I have nothing productive to say here, other than "thank you" for the critiques everybody. There is nothing here I didn't already suspect and nothing that is going to sway me to watch the pilot for a show that is apparently doomed before it starts. Neither am I in anyway going to subscribe to YASS (Yet Another Streaming Service) just to watch that same doomed show limp towards oblivion.
