  1. Re: Fallout 3: Postapocalyptica ...okay, that is pretty awesome. Sigh, guess I'll have to dig that out and give it a whirl.
  2. Re: Fallout 3: Postapocalyptica Once more, I completely agree. I'm at level 20, and have been for a few days, but I refuse to finish the story because I'm just so engrossed with exploring the Wasteland. Though, unlike you I am not a huge fan of the homemade weapons (besides the Bottlecap Mine, which really is a gem that I don't use nearly often enough). My personal favorite weapon in the game is Lincoln's Repeater, which is just an old fashioned Winchester rifle. Twice as powerful as the hunting rifle, and just damn cool to watch in action. Another Perk that is an absolute must have? "The Mysterious Stranger." I don't know how many times this mystery man has saved my life, but I don't know how I survived without him. ...oh right, I just dropped a trail of landmines everytime I went into a dungeon. Still, Mysterious Stranger is great. Oh, and one perk that I'm really annoyed that I got was "Bloody Mess." I know that it's a feat from previous Fallout games, where it worked, but here it's just incredibly annoying after a while. It was funny watching Raiders and Super Mutants explode in gory clouds of blood the first couple of dozen times, but after the fortieth Raider's head, right arm, torso, and left leg ALL explode from a shot to the left arm it gets pretty tiresome. I miss the days when shooting a person in the arm meant their arm would drop off, not every single limb. Sigh. And back to the music, I do hate the repetition of the songs, but I still listen solely for Three Dog's broadcasts (though by this point they're starting to get VERY repetitious). Especially for the first half of the game, when quests actually cause his dialogue to change, it's just awesome wandering the Wasteland when suddenly he starts speaking of some epic action you had taken a few days back, very cool. It's just weird that these really, really massive things I've accomplished near the end of the main story aren't even mentioned by him. Maybe it's a glitch. Glad I'm not the only one enjoying the game though.
  3. Re: Solar HERO: And then we walked away, and we never went back This is why I think that projects like X-Prize are our salvation. Much like Heinlein's vision was of humanity's first ventures into space in the pre-Apollo era, the key to ascension to the heavens is a profit driven venture done by a private corporation. Once a private corporation is able to put a man in space, they'll figure out the cheapest way to do it, and try to gobble up every inch they can. This will start a race of sorts amongst competing companies, and before we know it there'll be all kinds of things going on up there. At least, that's my theory. Oh ya, and the Star Ladder projects will also be a pretty huge boon once those get off the ground (no pun intended).
  4. Re: Nazi Flying Saucers Same here. Can't wait to see Iron Sky! Genius.
  5. Re: Fallout 3: Postapocalyptica Been playing it for, well, far too long now really. I'm supposed to be writing, but have been spending pretty much every free moment in FO3. Loving it. And yes, the similarities between it and Oblivion are numerous, but this game is just so much better that I really don't care. Agree with pretty much everything you said, Thia, nicely done.
  6. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Oooh! I've been meaning to pick that up. It has artwork by Alex Ross, doesn't it?
  7. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Wha? No plain old Mad Max? Blasphemy! Still haven't been able to sit through the last half of Thunderdome. ...did get arrested for "reenacting" Road Warrior though.
  8. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Sounds like I'm going to have to pull the dvd out and take a look. Deserves another viewing anyways.
  9. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? THERE'S A LOBSTER JOHNSON MOVIE?!? Why am I always the last to know? Edit: Also, just found out that del Toro wants Bruce Campbell to play him in Hellboy 3. Awesome.
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Man I loved that show when I was a kid. Don Karnage is such a great character with one of my favorite names of all time. Had a conversation with my roommate the other day where we just sat down and talked about the show and all of the ingenious characters. Shier Kahn (sp) is also fantastic in his down to earth villainy. Oh, and Kit Cloudkicker is an awesome name too. Damn, I really want to buy that set now.
  11. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Haha, isn't it Kevin Smith moderating? Yeah, Smith is hilarious, but I wouldn't want him on that panel, he likes being the center of attention far too much. I'm actually watching the American Spaced dvds with new commentary, and Kevin Smith does the first few episodes. Was funny for a little while, but he really does get it far too off track. Oh man, I couldn't stand that movie. I know, it's "supposed" to be funny, but the first one barely pulled it off, and these last two are just awful. And why do they have to use the fantastic book by Heinlein to make some bad political satire? Oh well. For myself, I've been watching Burn Notice for the past two days, and am almost done with season 1. Really liking it, but it's too bad they're a ways into season 2. The show's helping a lot for inspiration for Spycraft though.
  12. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Just saw "Tropic Thunder" and absolutely loved it. Must say, though, Robert Downey completely made the movie for me. It was funny outside of him, but he completely brought it to another level of hilarity. "I'm a lead farmer" had me cracking up.
  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Finished the X-Files: S7 the other day, and somewhat happy to say that I'm officially done with the series. 7 started out pretty good with a few entertaining episodes, but went downhill really fast. Once the series moved to LA, you could tell that their hearts just weren't in it anymore. And I'd like to say that it's unfortunate that the writers have no idea what's going on the vast majority of the time. Mulder's sister's story? Their effort to resolve it was completely laughable and makes absolutely no sense. After seeing the "I Want to Believe" movie, I'm more than happy to sit out the last two seasons. Oh well, now to start either Burn Notice or The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr.
  14. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Haven't seen it yet, but supposedly they changed around some scenes and added some that hadn't been in any other editions. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it.
  15. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Yeah, while the first season has some great ideas, it's very uneven as far as quality goes. I'm actually in the middle of watching season 7, just finished season 6. Personally, I think it actually gets better as it goes, though I have a feeling that that's going to stop happening very quickly. Seasons 4 and 6 I think have pretty much all of my favorite episodes in them though. Great stuff.
  16. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Saw Wall-E last night, finally. Been trying to see it since it came out, but things kept coming up, and of course Dark Knight took up every movie outing I've made. Really, really liked it. Nothing bad to say whatsoever. Though I still think I like the "Iron Giant" more.
  17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? X-Files: I Want to Believe. Wow. Admittedly, I've only watched up to the 6th season so far, but am progressing through pretty quickly. Okay, what the hell? That was just a normal episode stretched over 2 hours taking place long after the rest of the series. I really, really wish they had made an actually important episode, instead of some random adventure long after the majority of theirs. And the scene after the credits? So lame.
  18. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Exactly why I rarely watch movies aired on tv, especially ones that I haven't seen before. Not only is the pacing ruined, but they take out so much it's unwatchable sometimes.
  19. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Here's that Ducktator's cartoon, by the way.
  20. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Recently been watching S1 of Farscape, finally. I've been trying to get the series on dvd for years, but back when it first came out I refused to pay what they were asking for it (I think it was something outrageous like $80 for a normal season), then when the Starburst edition came out I just didn't want to have to track down dozens of sets. So I tried to wait it out for the prices to go down. Course the opposite happened; they stopped making the dvd's and the prices skyrocketed to several hundred dollars a season. So borrowed the first 2 Starburst editions from a friend, then discovered that iTunes now has the rest of the series for download. Not a perfect solution, but it'll have to do.
  21. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? I love those cartoons! Did you watch Ducktators? Hilarious.
