The advantage of having two Multipower reserves is that you can use both Multipowers simultaneously. If you only have one Multipower, you must allocate the reserve points amongst the various slots. Also, having two Multipowers makes more sense thematically - unless the staff is made from shadow or necromantic energy, it's a physical object, and shouldn't be Dispelled or Supressed by Adjustment Powers that effect such energies.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... I finished reading the Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson yesterday. An interesting twist on both the western and fantasy genres as it is set in the world of the Mistborn trilogy, but three centuries later, when the world has evolved into a pseudo 19th century, with the addition of Allomancers and Ferruchemists. Since the major villain escaped capture, I suspect that this will be the first book in a new trilogy.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Womaneater - a British movie about a mad doctor who's using a woman-eating plant to try to bring back the dead using a serum derived from the plant in question. It all ends in disaster, of course, but there are a few other twists (beside the obvious) that make it worth watching.

This is a well-done "genetic horror" film about two researchers who illegally create the first animal/human hybrid, named Dren instead of focusing on their actual job of splicing animal DNA.The splicing goes horribly wrong in both cases, not only resulting in both Fred and Ginger (the animal splices) messily killing each other, but Dren having sex with both her creators, thanks to an unexplained gender switcheroo that only seems to happen with the female splices.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... I've recently read Crown of Vengeance, the first book in the Dragon Prophecy trilogy, by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory. This book is a prequel to two trilogies set in the same world, detailing the rise of the Elven Queen Vieliessar of Farcarinon, the first to lead the Light against the Endarkened (which is the true names for the demonic villains in the first trilogy). The book starts with the origin of the Endarkened in the prologue, with the vast majority of the book detailing Vielessar's transformation from a despised outcast to overthrowing the Hundred noble Houses and becoming the High King. It's a great story, but I'm assuming that it's a trilogy, not just because it's a tradition in fantasy literature, but the two authors have written two different trilogies set in the same world, and there are too many plot points not completed for it to be a stand-alone novel.

I have recently discovered that the new Hammer has an official Youtube channel and spent part of my Sunday afternoon watching X-The Unknown, which was the late Jimmy Sangster's first full-length movie. One of the best 50's blob movies around.

Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Just read Above His Proper Station, or Volume Two of The Fall of The Sorcerors, by Lawrence Watt-Evans. The sequel to A Young Man Without Magic, it is also the book where Lord Allustar, the villain of the first book, is finally revealed & reviled as a villain, due to the black magic ritual he performed in A Young Man Without Magic. Highly recommended for those who like intrigue and realistic characters.

Now I've seen 3/4 of all the movies that Eugene Lourie has directed- I've also watched The Giant Behemoth on Youtube, as well.

I've finished reading Dancing with Werewolves, the first book in the Delilah Street, Paranormal Investigator series by Carole Nelson Douglas (famous for her Irene Adler and Midnight Louie novels). The books are set on an alternate Earth where supernatural beings of all sorts revealed themselves in 2000 AD. The heroine is a former paranormal investigator, who after several tragedies, moves to Las Vegas, gets a new job and lover, and adopts an Irish wolfhound to replace her beloved Lhasa Apso. As well as fighting against the werewolf criminal underground, and discovering her magical abilities. And yes, there is dancing with werewolves.

Sometimes, though official sequels can be just as bad- I couldn't get past page 2 of Dracula the Undead, and I must be the one person on Earth who hated both Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and that awful film purporting to be an adaptation of the series.
