  2. Re: The Marvel Magnificent Seven (Avengers) Well with her stings (solid EB use and potency) and her leadership capability, her run as chairman was one of my favorites, Janet Van Dyne is a really good character to have. I know that some writers are giving her full access to Pyms' particles allowing her to grow, but the shrinker is a cool archetype jsut left alone. Hawksmoor
  3. Re: CHAR: Captain America I have also seen him pull out lockpicks and a demokit from his gloves in his book in the late 80s/ early 90s. So yeah a small VPP is in order. Hawksmoor
  4. Re: What concepts have you used for a 'Superman'? Well WW^2 it is really "What Iconic character one offs did you make for your games?" Rather than what NPCs the GM has cooking in his world. Worldmaker has a rather Nasty Superman Homage in Jihad. Scary! Hawksmoor
  5. Re: CHAR: Batman Well ya know "No one can beat Batgirl." it is her schtick. Open up on her from max range with a AE 1 hex NRM Energy Blast and she falls really well. Hawksmoor
  6. Re: What concepts have you used for a 'Superman'? I have too many to count as Superman analogs are my favorite character type: Flying Energy Projector Bricks! Starting with my Champs 3e character of Omega who was a chance to play a character that was not totally nerfed by him limitations showing up. He was a low powered superman, think the 1939 version that with the addition of his armored suit and "Radiation absorber belt" could amp this power to righteous levels. Not through AID, but through partially limited Characteristics and powers. Then I had PowerLord. This is Superman....all the cool powers and the saving a nosy reporter NPC. Only I was into Image at the time was he was as Iron age as the orginal Supreme run. Hawksmoor
  7. Re: CHAR: The Flash I did want to mention Wally's REC and END problem. It seems in my admittedly cursory reading that Flash III has serious END issues. He has +12 DCV that costs END, in addition to his movement powers. Currently Wally does not have his previous "Easily Winded" limitation. He lost that in the venerable Leob run (K%lG%re and Vandal Savage in one super arc...ah the good ole days). Instead Wally is only really effected by serious pushes to his capabilities like emtying a city of 5 million in under .05 Seconds, or pushing Savitar into the Speed Force. Thus at least a 20 REC (or More in the Speed Force EC) and 100-120+ END to represent his ability to tap a power greater than himself. Come to think of it that sounds like an END Reserve. 300 END with 30 REC? Hawksmoor
  8. Re: Ridiculous things in comics that you don't mind. Did you mean not marrying her? Yeah that part Sucked! And of course Spike was so cool they made him part of Angel's crew. As to likable characters the droopy skinned demon was cool. Hawksmoor
  9. Re: Stats for Paksenarrion? Good, as always you are the Master. Then for Book III you give her a 30 EGO and a Paladin VPP. I'd say more but I would hate to spoil you on one of my 5 favorite fantasy novels. Now read and then get started on the Finovar Trilogy by Guy Gavriel Kay. I want stats on all the major characters. Hawksmoor
  10. Re: Ridiculous things in comics that you don't mind. I don't think they did. I think Heaven for Buffy was real, hence the tragedy. Xander caught on by the end of Season 6, as per his Joss's Alter Ego role and was sickened by his actions. Hawksmoor
  11. Re: DC's Best "Bricks" Yeah, probably. But he gets his huge mutated rear handed to him so like Mongul he is 'less' than most heroes despite having that enormous leverage advantage and AE 1HEx Fists. Hawksmoor
  12. Re: Ridiculous things in comics that you don't mind. Yes, WW she told Spike she was in Heaven. The Scoobies pulled her from Heaven. It was the precipice of Hubris that Willow began to slide down from. Buffy fought the good fight and sacrificed herself to save her loved ones and the world. She was rewarded. Then she was ripped from bliss and forced to deal with the jarring, dangerous world. Poignant writing in an otherwise "Year of Painful Dreariness" Season. Hawksmoor
  13. Re: real powered armorer lim It is not appropriate for a Superheroic game. In less 'fantasitcal' genres it would only apply to the 'armor' power however you built it. Real Weapon, the offensive analog, could be applied to the weapon suite. It is however meant as a add-on limitation to be applied to an existing focus limitation however not as a replacement. Hawksmoor
  14. Re: Putting on Power Armor To Kav: Yes and no. It applies to a Focus in a way that makes it more well real than a typical power construction (focus) would be. You add the Real Weapon limitation on to model a weapon or armor more accurately. FOREX if you add Real Armor to your OIF Armor and are summarily dunked in a a tank filled with vicious man eating sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads. After you fight your way out you have to deal with waterlogged armor that chafes, sits poorly and just, might start falling apart. Without this limitation you just keep on rock and rolling. Hawksmoor
  15. Re: real powered armorer lim I do not think this limitation is appropriate. It is used to represent "Real World" armors from oil-boiled leather to kevlar. It is an add on limitation that implies armor degradation and susceptability to real world physics, ie it will not do a great job at protecting you from say a fall from 20". It is of course your game, but no this is not what the limitation was intended for. Hawksmoor
  16. Re: DC's Best "Bricks" My list of "Bricks": 1. Superman (Duh!) 2. Captain Marvel 3. Amazo 3a. Orion 3b. Kalibak 4a. The General/Shaggy Man 4b. Darkseid 5. Validus 6. Solomon Grundy 7. Wonder Woman 7a. Martian Manhunter 7b. Supergirl/Kara Zor El 8. Power Girl 9. Ultra Boy w/Ultra Strength Engaged 10. Mongul Hawksmoor
  17. Re: DC's Best Martial Artist Prometheus I would say is disqualified since he augments his MA abilities with that helmet of his. After all Bats did beat him by 'cheating'. And of course Oracle held him at bay from a WHEELCHAIR!!! Hawksmoor
  18. Re: Putting on Power Armor Realize this comes from my old power gamer days that SL has specifically said are the "way of no fun", but we used to apply limitations to Powered Armors to specificially address this issue. As a corrallary these concepts applied to OIHID's as well. So you could take OIF, ! Turn Set Up (Sustained Version), 1/2 DCV and get a 1 3/4 Limitation on your powers (BBB Rules mind you). But that meant of course that you were 1/2 DCV (normal human DEX only!) hopping around and trying to put on your armor in the Turn. Sure it only took 12 seconds of Game Time, but as we all know 12 Seconds is life and death in HERO. As I am now I would not allow this limitation stacking at all. But then I lean more towards a Pointless System of HERO these days so Limitations matter less than before. Hawksmoor
  19. Re: DC's Best Martial Artist hmmm...emotional weakness or physical vulnerability as per her fight with the Brotherhood. Regardless MM is truely superhuman in the agility department and has a Mother Box, Multicube and a Dazzling Smile. Draw in three panels. Hawksmoor
  20. Re: Why are 2nd powers cheaper? See? Hawksmoor
  21. Re: DC's Best Martial Artist Well despite having no, or better put, "undefined powers that shall remain underwraps until I am quite ready thank you very much." Mister Miracle just does not have that schtick of being a good martial artist. Which is wrong in certain ways, he fights a lot like a superhuman Jackie Chan in my humble yet honest opinion. It is that 'gimmicky' behavior that causes people to not rank him as highly as they should. Interestingly the mention of Scott Free has caused me to imagine a fight between Cassandra and the New God. How would she react to a near total unaggressive combatant? Scott dodges and blocks but never tries to strike her, how would she 'read' that? Moreover, how would she deal with a soul that is so utterly without fear that not even life on Apokalips could break him. After all he couldn't be accused of guarding a 'center' or weakness like so many of Batgirl's opponents. Hawksmoor
  22. Re: CHAR: The Flash So far so good E84. One trick, as mentioned before, is that the Flashes (Speedforce endowed speedsters) can read at really fast speeds. They then often do amazing things with that knowledge like build gigaflop computers or decipher an alien genetic code. Then they lose all that knowledge a short while later. This is best represented by buying skills in the VPP. When the slots shift the 'knowledge' fades. Although Bart Allen "Kid Flash II" does not have this problem, likely as a result of his early development in a computer fast holodeck of sorts. I think that his movement is too slow, but that is a HEROism that rubs me the wrong way...chronically. I'd adjust his movement in inches to 100" Combat Speed and allow him to NCM the bejesus out of anyone with that VPP! Also one thing to remember is that you are not modeling Wally's resistance to damage but more his staying power in the spotlight. Higher defenses are him just getting nicked or scratched when a full hit would clobber him. Thus feel free to up his or other JLAers PD and ED to what would be the JLA campaign median levels. With the heavy hitters like Kal and the MM being much, much higher. Hawksmoor
  23. Re: Why are 2nd powers cheaper? Of course for some reason some players (GMs are players too!) feel that the doubling rule is perhaps too potent in a points based game. Often you will hear that the 'copy' resides at home and that you can retrieve it later at leisure but not that you can unload with TWO BFG Multipower Foci of Doom using the vaious Talents/skills/Manuvers in the book. Although the canon example does just that Silly no? Hawksmoor
  24. Re: Captain Atom? Let us not forget that Captain Atom is a redux of Dr. Manhattan as per DCs buy out/absorbtion of Charlton Comics. Ya think the seminal Watchmen was the only thing to come of that? Nope. DC also got the Blue Beatle. Hawksmoor
