  1. Re: WWYCD? "Once more, with Justice" Blockbuster, the Boy Behemoth would probably start belting out "Go, Go Godzilla" or, much to his embarassment, do a do-whop tune about not being able to tell the girl he likes how he feels because he always gets nervous and monsters out into his three-story tall monster-lizard form.
  2. Re: Wwycd: Doom!!!! Blockbuster the Boy Behemoth: "Um...Mr.Destroyer, how did you get into my house?"
  3. Re: Wanted! Wesley's ability to kill is almost supernatural and seems to be a genetic superpower inherited from his father. His father may have been a normal assassin at first who acheived greatness, but what he passed on to his son is very much a superpower. I thought they made it perfectly clear, especially in their raid to the more four color dimension, that everyone was freaked out by his abilit to just blow holes in men of steel. He's a highclass superhuman, very powerful. Don't judge his abilities with guns as something anyone could do.
  4. Re: Wwycd: They Blew It!! Blockbuster: Would try to live out his ordinary 15 year old teenage life until some accident or rampaging robot forces him to monster out into his giant monster Behemoth form again, at which point he'd probably be captured at great collateral damage by the US government. Forever Red: As an immortal Soviet cosmonaut who only recently returned from the void I doubt he'd be interested in the laws of mortal men. He'd defend the earth as he saw fit, wherever it was needed. Dr.Amazing and the Amazing Family: As an old-fashion family of famous super-celebrity explorers and scientists they'd probably simply suspend their non-research activities for a while and stick to investigating the secrets of the universe rather than blasting villains with their rayguns.
  5. Re: What's in a Name? This made me think of a vigilante that hunts down supers who he feels have overstepped their bounds and abused their powers. The name Failsafe brings to mind a sleek coustume and some sort of symbol, be it a lock or a cage or even a whimsical yellow frowny face surrounded by a red no symbol. He'd be a gadgetman. Not an inventor himself but he'd use a whole lot of different gear, specialized to bring in whatever target he was after at the moment. So if he's going against a speedster he'd bring the monowire and landmine traps, against a ice-blaster he'd bring the napalm-gun, against a flying brick a big peircing cannon, and so on so forth. He doesn't try to kill his targets and instead hopes to bring them in for crimes, even when theres no way the police will charge them. This suggests Failsafe isn't exactly sane in the membrane, as he goes to great effort without even making sure results he wants will happen after he hands his target over. For a name how about something that seems to fit in thematically with the codename Failsafe...Henry Locke? For a history lets say he's a former streetlevel, Dark Champions style vigilante that was "born again" and found his purpose in life in bringing in heroes that abuse their powers. He's an escaped mental patient and has lots of criminal contacts which is how he gets his gear, despite avowedly hating crime himself. Next up: Human Hand, Sr.
  6. Re: The amazing Superblog! This is the most hilarious thing I'v ever read. Keep up on it.
  7. Re: Sky High the movie, now with Extra Vitamin "S" (spoilers) Warren's father was named "Baron Battle" so I think assuming he inherited at least a little invulnerability wouldn't be out of the question.
  8. Re: Sky High Gamer's Eye Micro-Review I thought Speed and Lash made good villains. For one thing just the idea of the kids at the hero school that act like they want to be villains really seemed to fit into the whole highschool mentality. Plus they were actually cunning instead of the usual mindless bullies. And the effects on Lash's stretching were suprisingly good, most of the time.
  9. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. So normally he's either a clunky cyborg in hawaian shirts and shorts or a clunky cyborg beneath a sleek exoskeleton?
  10. Re: Real world Pulp characters For modern pulp theres that "rebel billiionaire" guy. Not the most impressive pulp character but c'mon, bored millionaires are the crucible that form most groups of pulp adventurers.
  11. Re: Super Pope? The Pope doesn't need superpowers. So what if Thor exists and fights crime in NYC? Thor can be killed. We've seen it almost happen a dozen times. But God? He's oimnipotent and everlasting. The Pope doesn't need superpowers...he's almost as influential as head honchos at UNTIL, more in some areas, less in others. And supers and mythological gods as supers don't really screw with monotheism too much.
  12. Re: Storn Art from Idea to Full Picture Year 2 To answer Richard Logue there are no stats for Cyanide though anyone's welcome to make some. And yeah, besides the Canadian assasin who creates poisonous energy feilds theres not much to say. His real name is David Shaw, his identity is public though not many people bother to know anything other than the callsign. And, just going by the background I had in my mind for him, he's currently doing freelance contracting as a superpowered hitman but previously he was affiliated with a big supervillain team called the Sinisters. And as for some of my ideas for this year... I like the idea of a spikey ice hero. Howzabout a robot? Some sort of ice generating android that is covered in icecicles like one of those outdoor AC units during winter. With a cool name like Absolute Zero (the temperature at which everything falls apart) or something. as for a different idea, my idea is of a superbrawling boxer, a gigantic man, maybe African-American unless the black boxer is too much of a stereotype, with an iconic red and blue "coustume" of the normal boxing gear, minus the headgear. Keep the red gloves though, and perhaps emblazon the logo "KO" on the chest of his sleeveless shirt. The idea that struck me was of a guy who is technically not a super, or at least not a brick. However he's so big that he could only fight against supers, and so he had to train ten times of hard to keep up. A sort of giantified Apollo Creed type character if you will. An trained normal millionaire superclass boxing champion of the world. for my final suggestion, of this post at least, how about a female shrinker? I think it would be interesting to see how Storn drew a shrinking character, and there aren't enough pictures of dignified lady superheroes.
  13. Re: Angel, the worst original character concept ever? Angel and simmilar characters can simply be athletic/martial arts capable characters with flight as well. And winged fliers in comicbooks tend to have much more control and acrobatic manueverability than normal superfliers. So....you could say that Angel isnt much different than Spiderman, as far as his only big powers involve acrobatics and movement without involving superspeed or teleportation.
  14. Re: What's *your* superpower? The amazing power to open books to the right page and have a sense of forewarning before major bad luck occurs. Also animals always either flock to me or bark at me like theyre insane, never a normal or non-reaction.
  15. Re: Alternate Earth #25 National Capes Dr.Amazing would be the clean-cut prince, son of the science-patriarch of some american and british union island nation founded on superscience and silver age ideals. The people would love, hate, idolize, and envy him like a celebratity, and he would feel less of the a generalized responsibility to the general good or more to improving the quality of life in his nation, even at the cost of that of other nations.
  16. Re: Early NYC Vigilantes I like the Five Coroners from the Five Corners idea. Make them five diseperate masked men who were intent on cleaning up the city, in a very bloody way. Imagine Rorsharch with a tophat instead of a fedora and a meat cleaver in hand.
  17. Re: H.P. Lovecraft, Otto Skorzeny, and the CU Well I'v always had a weakness for the golden age and most of my campaign worlds end up in Nazis and other fascists replacing the Cold War (it's no fun to me). So I have used real life villains as leaders and founders of villainous organizations, because sometimes truth is stranger and more interesting than fiction. However I wouldnt suggest it in all circles, because using Dr.Mengele as a evil immortal superscientist might offend people who had ancestors in the Holocaust and such. I guess that's why people like communism more, because there is less sore feelings in the modern world in America to be brought up by commie villains, whereas Nazis and racism in general is a tender subject to even touch on with despicable villains.
  18. Re: Character Posted: Flesh Gordon Flesh gordon, of the 31st *pelvic thrust* century!
  19. Re: Tank chargen: low-strength, high-soak I'v played characters like this, without superhuman strength but nearly impossible to damage. I'd suggest having strong defenses all around, both physical and mental. And just because you're invulnerable doesnt mean you're big and bulky, you can make the guy acrobatic if you want. When I made mine character I made sure he had a way to dish out damage, besides just having a strong unarmed attack (trained normal type level) he also had a weapon capable of either stunning or lethal damage.
  20. Re: Foriegn Captain America's Well, I once came up with a legacy of British football/soccer superheroes, under the name of The Score. The original was a normal human with incredible skills, and the current is a all around super-athelete, with, on topic-ally, Captain America type level superstrength, speed, and endurance.
  21. Re: Help me build the Civic Guard Raliegh's patron superhero: R/D While many locals assume that RD is somewhat like RDU (a radio station) and is referring to the Raliegh-Durham area, in fact R/D stands for Research and Development. While it's known for it's tarheel motto and for the death of Blackbeard, North Carolina's capitol city is also one of the corporate research centers of the world. The Research Triangle Park houses dozens of major pharmeucital companies and much innovative drug and agricultural research (including hybrid crop research with help of scientists from India). These scientific breakthroughs and corporate assets are of course prime-targets for supercriminals. R/D is a corporate employee who improved on designs for a military powersuit going to Fort Bragg. He developed his armor and persona and has been contracting to the corporations and protecting the city pro bono ever since.
  22. Re: WWYCD 101:A question of faith Blockbuster, the Boy Behemoth: Would most likely follow his impulse, interefere, and when everyone is shouting at him in shock and horror would probably flip out and turn into his godzilla type form. One destroyed village, and hopefully no deaths, later he will of decided to never so lightly interefere with other cultures again. The Pulse would observe from a distance, and use his lifesign sense to detect notable increased perspiration/heart rate of the sacrifice as to detect if they are unwilling (or slowed to detect being drugged). If all seems fine he would let it happen. He's a reformed theif, but not a humanitarian by any sense. Captain Amazing would rocket in, rescue the sacrifice amidst to her own protests, and then promise to protect them from any consequences of not performing the sacrfice.
  23. Re: A Modern League of Extroardinary Gentlemen Letsee, twentieth century literary characters with dark pasts An aged and withered Doc.Savage (our Quatermain, in this instance) The grey in disguise of the Japanese doctor from the Dark Matter books (our Nemo) and beyond that right now I'v got nothing
  24. Re: Foriegn Captain America's Gaucho: Argentina's rough and tumble trained normal hero
  25. Re: Death with Dignity : An examination of the Golden Age With Silver Age power comes Silver Age responsibility. If you have 60's Superman's powers, much greater than golden age superman's, or have all the vehicles and nonlethal gadgets of later versions of Batman, then you have no reason to kill in most circumstances. I find it unrealistic that four color superman hasnt caused any deaths of human villains and powerful mooks, but he never purposefully does and in fact will go out of his way to save their lives from a resulting accident. That's the point, a police officer type save lives when you can approach, with just that they "can" a lot more than a cop with just a gun and no special powers can. In the golden age nobody had powers so awesome or great, so like the pulp heroes before them, they found it neccesary to sometimes kill. They were facing real danger from thugs with guns. These days those thugs with guns are an afterthought, and a distraction that is meant to be handled delicately straining the tactical ability of the superhero.
