  1. UPDATE: "I've got the proofs in and they look good - though I'm sure I've missed *something* (You always miss something.) I'm having 400 copies of each deck printed and shipped here. Most of you have filled out your surveys, so I've got your information. You've seen the electronic versions. So the next time I update this project, I'll have them in hand and will be getting ready to send them out to you. Thank you again for your support." Jason Walters, Publisher
  2. If you're interested, there's a positive review of Michael Surbrook's Ghosts, Ghouls, & Golems (as well as other games) from our friends at Comics, Clerics, & Controllers available HERE.
  3. Ron Edwards has been working away on Champions Now, extensively playtesting his vision of Champions with numerous fans. Some sessions and partial sessions of his initial recent play of the first-generation rules with very little alteration can be seen HERE, HERE, and HERE. Be warned that the the recordings are incomplete and very rough, as he was working through different options for the right tech at the time. All the sessions of his extensive game using the Alpha rules (which kept altering as they went along) are HERE, while Robert and Abby Baldwin’s Alpha game with Ron is discu
  4. Many villains are always in the news; many are always on our minds. Some, however, have not been seen for years and to some this means that they are retired, in jail, or dead. Only if this was in fact the truth! But it isn’t. Many villains have gone into hiding, while others are simply enjoying the fruits of their “labor.” Some are sitting on a secluded beach getting a tan or perhaps amusing themselves in a casino or nightclub in a friendly country. Still others are upgrading their tech or learning some new ricks to use on heroes and law enforcement. The truth is that
  5. I didn't know it existed either until a few weeks ago, when I received Michael Satran's Hero System collection thanks to the efforts of some mutual friends, which contained a floppy disk of it. It seems to have been a very early electronic-only Iron Crown era Hero System product (#HH4). It's 78 pages, and was written by Edwin Millheim, Grant Scheiber and Krista Fells. It was developed for Hero Games in 1998-99 by Meridian Designs Freelance Group. It has both Hero System and Fuzion System write-ups, and is intended for use with Champions campaigns in which the GM wants to interject Horror eleme
  6. Welcome to the inaugural installment of Monster Mash! Here you will find new creatures and/or new takes on old creatures for your Fantasy Hero Campaign. This installment will cover a new creature known as the Krylon. Krylons are an insect-like race that have suddenly appeared in the Realm. They are dangerous creatures that come in several different forms. They will kill any creature they can for food: cows, rabbits or even humans. These creatures could spell the end for the Realm and all that inhabit it! Can your players defeat them - or at least safe some of the realm
  7. Every fantasy hero campaign needs magical treasures for the adventures to find. This series houses information on varies information on just such treasures. Arrows & Bolts – Archers all around the realm are always looking for an edge against their adversaries. They are looking for magical weapons to help them in their adventures and arrows to help them as well. Arrows that slay lycanthropes, arrows that can turn creatures to stone, arrows that can cause blinding flashes of light. Adventurers want them and search dungeons – or even search through a dragon’s hoard - for them!
  8. More, more, more! Within these pages there are more spells, more magic items, more fantasy guidelines — everything you need to make a good Fantasy Hero 4th Edition campaign even better. While not absolutely necessary to play, this book should prove a valuable play aid to all Fantasy Hero players and GMs.
  9. Fantasy Hero is a HERO System Campaign Book. That means that it provides all the information needed to play fantasy adventures using the HERO System rules. Within these pages you will find setting information, fantasy specifics, and a wealth of ready to use material. However, Fantasy Hero is not a stand-alone product; to use it the player must also have the HERO System Rulesbook (4th Edition), which contains all the rules for the HERO System. The HERO System Rulesbook can be purchased separately; it is also contained in Champions, the Super Roleplaying Game (4th Edition).
  10. Haunted Heroes is set up with a multitude of short adventures, adventure seeds, characters and backgrounds, creatures, artifacts, items, and the horrific. All of these have one thing in common: the supernatural and the horrific. From spirits and mad scientists to creatures that hide in the dark recesses of the heroes. nightmares, all of these reside within these pages. Within, a game master will find dozens of things from the darkness to use as they are presented or incorporate into their own campaign. While we have tried our best to keep in good taste, there are certain things wit
  11. Wow! That was fast. Thank you Kevin! Jason Walters, General Manager
  12. Does anyone have an electronic copy of HPE1007 the Bright Future RPG? It would have been one the first of the Hero Games electronic products from the 80's. If so, could you contact me at jason@herogames.com? I need a copy for a project I'm working on. Jason Walters, Publisher
  13. Ninja Hero is the martial arts sourcebook for the HERO System, and is equally useful for heroic and superheroic campaigns. It includes martial arts from Aikido to Wrestling - and everything in between. Extensive guidelines help you simulate the feel of martial arts movies and comics. Use Ninja Hero to spice up the martial arts in an existing game, or provide the background for an entire campaign based on martial arts.
  14. The Fantasy Hero Companion II, like the previous Companion, contains supplementary material to use as you play Fantasy Hero 4th Edition. These include new archetypes, races, locations, magic, and spell books.
  15. S.I.D.s is short for Super-powered Individual Database. This is a database that various government agencies are starting to use to keep track of all the various villains and heroes. Over the last few years the number of super-powered individuals has skyrocketed. It has become a full time job to try and keep track of them as well as update information about the, that is the purpose of this database. The database is designed to give law enforcement as much information as possible on supervillains or superheroes they may need to call for help. This is a series of small pro
  16. Author Dale W. Robbins has sent us seven new adventure and character books for this groundbreaking Meriquai Falls Champions setting, including a free one that he created for Free RPG Day. This setting was explored back-in-the-day in five different issues of Digital Hero (2, 3, 4, 6, and 39 to be specific), and has been releasing material ever sense. If you would like to have a look at his work, check HERE.
  17. Throughout history people have followed and served the gods. There are those who are fanatical and those who only slightly believe. There are also those whose faith allows them to perform wondrous acts or even miracles. These individuals are called Divine Mages, Priests or Clerics. These individuals can make water safe to drink, heal wounds and even cure diseases or blindness. They have the ability to find and disperse the undead as well. They can do all these things because of the faith and servitude to their deity. In this tome are 118 spells ava
  18. As many of you already know, Hero Games currently has a project running on Kickstarter. With six days remaining it (at last count) has 430 backers and is 74% funded. Thus we are tantalizingly close but not over the finish line just yet. So obviously I want all of you to back this project. Equally obviously, a sizable minority of you object to this project, and have strongly voiced those objections on various forums, including the Facebook Hero System fan group. So I thought it might be a good idea for state why I personally, as a publisher, would like to see Champions Now come to fruition, and

  21. The Kazei Five (i.e. K5) Worldbook is designed to allow a Game Master to create and run a campaign using elements common to many near-future cyberpunk anime. For the Hero System 4th Edition.
  22. You are mistaken. Cryptic Studios has the rights to the Champions Universe as described in the 5th and 6th Editions. They do not have the rights to the Hero System, and we have a more-or-less unlimited license to produce more Champions products in any case. So there is no conflict here.
  23. Actually, I've worked very hard at making certain 6th Edition (and even some 5th Edition) books are made available print-on-demand via DriveThruRPG when we sell through their print runs. In fact, the only reason the core 6th Ed rules aren't currently available that way is because Ruben and I had to recently redo their layout to fix some problems. But they will never really go out of print. This isn't a nostalgia project - or, at least, not mostly one. In fact, Ron removed much of my "nostalgia" text from the Story within the project. Rather, Ron came to us with a proposal. He wante
  24. With any luck you won't *need* Hero Designer for Champions Now!
  25. The first wave of role-playing design was its own Renaissance, marked by greatness of all kinds. If you were playing then, you'll remember. And if you weren't, you'd be amazed at what that wave held. One of them was Champions, the Super Role-Playing Game. Hero Games is proud to present Champions Now, to be created by pioneering game designer Ron Edwards, author of Sorcerer and co-founder of The Forge. Ron will revisit the original three editions of first-generation Champions (1981 to 1988), recovering the power of this foundational era of superhero roleplaying. To learn
