  1. Re: BOOK OF THE EMPRESS Kickstarter That's even better news! Congrats to all. Be interesting to see the final amount pledged.
  2. Re: Was there a canon Champions NPC named Silver Shamrock? I think there's a City of Heroes character that uses that name, but that's all I know.
  3. Re: Power Time! Probably go back to school and try to pursue a career in scientific research with an eye towards curing diseases and that pesky nut allergy.
  4. Re: BOOK OF THE EMPRESS Kickstarter That's great news.
  5. Re: The Mapparium I had no idea such a thing existed. Something to add to the "to-do" list should I ever get back up to Boston. Thanks, Steve.
  6. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine
  7. Re: NYC Beat Cops From The 1970s I had no idea Murder Can Hurt You was a sequel. Makes sense, really. That film used to show up on infrequently on late night TV in my neck of the woods. Silly in a good way.
  8. Re: Guide to Street Supers
  9. Re: Anyone know of a random Prophecy Generator? A friend of mine once managed to get a fortune that said "You are the greatest in the world". He had it laminated.
  10. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "Jennifer's Veil" by The Birthday Party. Up next: "Thin Air" by Anathema
  11. Re: Subterfuge of the Shadow Clan! (Free Scenerio) Sounds like fun. IIRC, the Mon is a Japanese identification symbol.
  12. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Donna Troy: Sign up at ancestry.com.
  13. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division Pornography by The Cure is next in the queue, followed by some Billie Holiday. It's gonna be that kind of night.
  14. Re: X Ray-ted Vision Billy the Id - Would be flattered and amused, but wouldn't do it. He'd politely decline. The Wraith - Would neither be flattered or amused. Diabolus - Would strip off the moment he got the request. Wherever he happened to be at the time. Karl the Night Watchman - Would be too embarassed. His mom might find out. Shooting Star - Would lecture everyone involved on the evils of such publications, especially sidekick Flashy.
  15. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" by Van der Graaf Generator
  16. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? "The Other F Word", a documentary about punk rockers and fatherhood. Some really powerful scenes, but it's way too unfocused.
  17. Re: Hello to all From one newcomer to another, welcome!
  18. Re: Are Overall Skill Levels overpowered? I'd agree with this. I once played a character in a 250-point campaign who was 150-points plus 10 Overall Levels. The GM thought it was funny, and the character (Karl the Night Watchman) was meant to be support to the main heroes, so it was allowed. Worked rather well.
  19. Re: Your evil army I do the obvious thing, which is attempt to enter the Guiness record books for "Largest Thriller Dance".
  20. Re: Superheroes to Keep, Superheroes to Lose I tried and failed to convince my main Champions GM to let me play versions of Matter-Eater Lad and Bouncing Boy of the Legion in his campaign. I think the concepts are really interesting and unjustly obscured by Silver-Age goofiness. (Note: I love Silver-Age goofiness.) Another GM turned down my request to play what was essentially Krypto the Super-Dog, but not nearly as powerful. I did get to play a take on Dynamo from T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, which was a pretty easy build as I recall. He was the only character I ever played who was a direct homage, and I probably only got away with it because no one else knew the character. Wish I could find the character sheet. I tend to favor the lesser-known characters from the major companies these days and obscure heroes in general. I'd love to see someone try a write-up of the DC hero Captain Comet, who is one of my personal faves.
  21. Re: The Supervillain game: Have you done it and how did it go? I played in a villain-based game for a few sessions. It worked out OK. I don't remember much about the sessions except that a fight would break out amongst some of the more unbalanced bad guys after the crime, which fit the concept. I also recall getting a bonus XP for introducing the GM to the phrase "Enlightened Self-Interest". He loved that. We were supposed to end up in a winner take all fight with the super-hero team he was also running, but it didn't happen.
  22. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Music From Big Pink by The Band
  23. Re: Possible HERO System Supplement Kickstarters From Steve -- What Interests You? $25-50 for both Mythic Hero and STORMlords. Both sound like a lot of fun. Cyber Hero isn't my cup of tea. A straight-up 6E conversion for Dark Champions wouldn't be either, as I already have a lot of the supplements from previous editions.
