  1. Was going through some old stuff I had boxed up for a move a long time ago and came across this treasure. I'm not sure why it looks black (lousy camera) but it is actually navy blue. I wore this so much back in the day! So proud to own it! Happy gaming! Laser
  2. Thanks for all the input everyone. I will have to talk to my player about this and see if I want to let it in the game.
  3. Thanks for the input everybody. I kind of figured it was a custom job, but I wanted to be sure.
  4. Sorry, I should have explained that better. He is using a mental attack (mental illusion) so there is nothing to hit the wall. Would it then work?
  5. I have a player that wants to be blind but have spatial awareness (SA). Can he make attacks that require LOS? It says under SA that they can also "see" through walls so if he can use LOS via SA does that mean he can use his LOS attack through walls? Thanks in advance. Laser
  6. Hi all, I found a hard copy Fantasy Hero book many years ago in a used book store. (pic attached) Its contents are identical to the other book in the attachments which is 2nd edition Fantasy Hero. I have been running Fantasy Hero games for many, many years and through all the editions but I never heard of a hard copy of the 2nd edition book. Can anyone tell me when this book came out and if it is a special release or something? It doesn't have any numbered copy or special note like I got in my 25th Anniversary Champions book - Number 112 of 200, which I am very proud to own! Much thanks. Laser
  7. I am a single Dad and fortunately both my kids LOVE to play RPG's. During the entire pandemic we played Champions in a sandbox superhero setting I wrote. That definitely helped ease the stress until we and all our friends got vaccinated. Now we are back to our usual group.
  8. Okay, that makes sense. Thank you for the explanation Lord Liaden.
  9. I am running a super hero game using Hero 5th Edition Revised and one of my players wanted to buy combat sense after earning some XP. On page 88 it breaks down the power in the main body of the explanation - 15 points to buy for 9+(INT/5) roll and +1 to the roll for 1 point. It also says you can spend +2 points to make it a sense and get rid of the 1/2 phase action to track opponent. Okay, that is all good and understandable. Then, at the bottom, in the smaller, bulleted breakdown it has the 15 points to buy for 9+(INT/5) roll and +1 for 1 point but does not have the +2 to make it a sense. It DOES however add "Detect target in HTH combat [5 character points], Targeting, Passive" with no explanation of what that even means. This 5 point item is also not listed in the main body. Can somebody please explain what that 5 point part means to the power. What does the extra 5 points get you? Is the 5 points a typo? Is it supposed to be the 2 point option listed in the main body? Thank you. Laser
  10. Awesome! That looks like a great selection! I am so looking forward to getting this book when it comes out. Does anybody know when the hardcopy will be available for sale?
  11. I am very interested in this book and will most likely buy it as soon as it hits the stores but I do have a question... Will it have monsters included in the book? Kind of like a short bestiary specifically for MHI? that would be pretty cool if it did! I may be in the minority but I really like using things like bestiaries and villain books in my games. I run a game almost every weekend and the CKC and Bestiary (along with Villainy Amok - LOVE that book!) are almost always at my side. Just curious. Laser
  12. Re: Mega Scale advantage question True, but with a couple of floating points and a handy fixed point that is resolved. Although you can't go ANYWHERE you can get away once out of combat. Which brings me to a new query. Let's say you are in combat and know you are going to lose. You run through a door an lock it or slide down a laundry chute or whatever. Are you then considered "out of combat" even though they may well come after you pretty quickly? Or lets say you are running and lose them for a round or two, are you then "out of combat"? Just curious what your take on that is. Laser
  13. Re: Mega Scale advantage question Thanks for the reply. I do like the Hero System mainly because of the flexibility of making your own character just the way YOU want it and not the way the RULES say you can. Fortunately I mainly play with my kids and they have not not yet discovered how to "min-max" a character. LOL Again, thanks for the input. Laser
  14. Hi all, I was looking into the megascale adv and read it over about 4 times to try to figure it out. Is it true that if you choose say a range that will let me teleport anywhere in the world (+2 adv) I can choose to teleport anywhere from 1m (the base) to across the country? So I buy teleport for at its base for 1 point then add the Megascale for x2 adv and I can now teleport anywhere in the world for 3 points? I must be reading it wrong but I seem to be missing the part where it says I can't do that other then the GM saying "no". I understand it is non-combat but still it seems like a really cheap way to go anywhere instantly. Am I reading this wrong? Thanks Laser
  15. Re: Hero system basic book question I just wanted to chime back in having bought some books. I currently have the basic book and 6E2. I am patiently awaiting 6E1 to come from the Hero online store. My older son (12 years old) and I played a game this weekend and had a grand time. I did not show him the full 6E2 book as I thought it would intimidate him. He made a character all by himself using only the Basic book. The only hiccup was that he wanted to be able to shape shift into a bat. Fortunately while shape shift is not in the Basic book it does reference it with the cost value. All is good. Having read through the basic book I can say that, with the exception of shape shift, it is complete enough for my needs. The items left out are of no concern to me at this time. I generally play a pretty easy going game and feel good about the basic book. I will probably get another copy of it to give to my son. He also has several friends who want to play with us as well so two copies at the table is probably a good thing. Thanks for all the input. Laser PS - just to add in - He was literally DROOLING over my official Hero dice. I only wish I could get more of those! I also showed him my official Hero 15th anniversary T-Shirt. Am I a Hero fan? Yes, yes I am. I hope they stay in business for years to come.
  16. Re: Hero system basic book question Thank you. I guess I will stick with the full books.
  17. Hi, First, forgive me if this question is in the wrong place, there were so many places I wasn't sure where to post. I am a long time Hero player. I have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th books. I did get a few 5th edition books but then I stopped for a bit. Now my kids want to play and I am eager to get them into one of my favorite games. (They are 11 and 13) I thought I would get the basic book but I am curious if it leaves anything out like Hero System Sidekick did. Is it truly complete? Does it have ALL the powers, skills, talents, perks etc.? Just curious. I want to get my boys the new system but I don't want to intimidate them too much by getting a huge book. On the other hand I also don't want them to have an incomplete book and have to access the bigger book if there is something they want to do that is not available in the Basic book. Does that make sense? Thank you. Laser

  20. Quick question - What power level is FHB designed for? 50 point chars? 150 point chars? 250 point chars? Just curious. In case anyone asks, I usually run low level games (50 + 25) Thanks. Laser
