  1. Back to the original question of the thread: There are two distinct types of superhero campaigns. One is a single-axis campaign and it is usually set in a pretty normal setting against which a war rages between two powerful factions. Sometimes, the war is like vs like as in Autobots v Decepticons or Order of the Phoenix v Death Eaters or X-Men v Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Pick a side and join the fight. The other type is the typical kitchen sink campaign and it features a mishmash of character types and an equally disparate collection of adversaries. In a typical multiplayer campaign, any enemy faction has to be strong enough to avoid getting wiped out by a hero team and there are usually at least one type of adversary for every type of hero, so by nature, there are usually more villains than heroes. What keeps the world from spiraling into dystopia is that villains don't typically work and play well together, so they are not always amenable to teaming up against the heroes.
  2. Getting into Harvard is not exactly a flex if your ancestors are rich, powerful Harvard alumni.
  3. https://japantoday.com/category/national/eight-boars-drop-dead-around-japan’s-killing-stone? Some months after a sacred stone said to be the prison of a fox spirit suddenly split open, the bodies of 8 wild boars were discovered around the site.
  4. We are a handful of days away from the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception. This play needs a name to memorialize it, but I have no idea what people are going to call it 50 years from now. Frankly, I have no idea what I saw. That had to be the biggest brain cramp of all time.
  5. I think that the Colts are trying to steal the Raiders' title of worst 2nd half team.
  6. Elon Musk had an offer on the table to delete the twitter account that tracked his private jet for $50k. Instead, he bought Twitter for $44B and had it deleted. 4D Chess move, for sure.
  7. NGL, what Purdy is doing is incredible. Maybe spending the last few months running the practice squad has been the best preparation he could have asked for. I mean, he's been facing the NFL's best defense for months. Facing another team's D must feel like a relief for him.
  8. Tua should just call in sick whenever a team with a Bosa is on the schedule.
  9. The king is dead. Long Live The King. Welcome to the first win of the Brock Purdy Era. If you watch the game in slow motion, I think you can actually see Purdy absorbing Brady's quickening.
  10. My assumption has been that 45 announced the troop withdraw order in order to leave a poison pill that, if he won the election, he could retract, but if he didn't, would punish Biden.
  11. The other point about Victor Bout is that he was/is a Russian arms merchant. How much market value do Russian weapon systems have right now? Even Vietnam is openly courting foreign (western) offers in its new rearmament plans.
  12. Sinema bails on the Democrats, files as an Independant. Big surprise.
  13. The instantaneous rebuttal to any republican sniping at Biden over failing to release Paul Whelan is to ask why 45 failed to arrange his release, especially given how much of Putin's ass he was willing to kiss.
  14. I dunno. The last time Germany was run with imperial aspirations, it ended up killing a lot of Russians...
  15. I think 45 has a solid business model moving forward. All he has to do is demand that any GOP candidate send him money or he will endorse them.
  16. Jimmy Garoppolo injured his foot on the first drive of the game and is out for the season. The last player selected in the draft (AKA Mr. Irrelevant) Brock Purdy is now the 49ers QB. He threw for 2 TDs and one INT (more of a punt, really) and the 9ers won 17-33. After not throwing an INT in nearly 200 attempts Tua throws interceptions in back to back pass attempts. Moving forwards, Brock Purdy is going to face Tom Brady in his first game as a starting QB. Brady got his starting role when his starting QB got injured, so there's that. Also moving forwards, the 49ers are in the market for a backup QB. Anyone know what Colin Kaepernick is doing these days?
  17. two GOP operatives convicted of voter fraud sentenced to register voters in DC. https://www.yahoo.com/news/judge-orders-right-wing-operatives-who-targeted-black-people-with-robocalls-to-register-voters-in-dc-210638840.html
  18. it's hard to take any Trump supporter seriously. If they can fall for that con, what else are they capable of falling for? If they didn't fall for the con and actually support him and his 'brand', then it's even worse...
  19. No comment on whether he was near a window. https://www.yahoo.com/news/belarus-foreign-minister-makei-dies-135204430.html
  20. There is a nonzero chance that what landed in Poland is a Ukranian air defense missile fired to intercept a russian cruise missile that missed. Complicating matters is the fact that Ukraine employs a number of anti aircraft missiles manufactured by russia, so figuring out whose fault it was is going to be extremely tricky. Complicating things even further, russians have been resorting to using anti aircraft missiles (S300s for example) in land attack missions due to lack of supplies of higher grade cruise missiles. So figuring out exactly what happened is going to be tricky. Hopefully somebody has satellite or radar tracking data that can be checked to figure out where these missiles came from. Also, there are fires burning in Belgorod Oblast, apparently due to a misfiring russian missile(s) that failed to go where they were aimed and came down in russian territory. This is not the first time this has happened there.
  21. At first I wanted Herschel Walker tested for CTE. Now, I want Georgia republican voters tested for CTE. Thankfully, the runoff matters a bit less, but I still want Warnock to win. Walker just shows how bad the GOP is at attracting quality candidates and how completely partisan and entirely lacking in principles and objectivity the republican voter base is there.
