1. Re: Anyone running any online games? Well I hope you get to feeling better. I look forward to seeing the format you choose. Do you have a domain name for your website chosen yet? Should we use the campaign name for a web site?
2. Re: Anyone running any online games? So did we settle on a new Campaign name? And are we setting up a new thread with the campaign name?
3. Re: Anyone running any online games? The Master Weapon Index for our macro names is up in the Other Software forum.
4. Re: Anyone running any online games? Yeah I noticed that when I tried to roll acrobatics to leap back across the water... and all my skills were gone. Also earlier when you asked me to try a STR of 80 on the Unarmed Attack macro. When I went to change I found that all of my characteristics had been reset to the base defaults. Luckily some quick cut and paste fixed the skills, and the characteristic input made short work of the stats. For a campaign name... I like "The Winds of Change". Our webspace is live and active. I have unlimited space and bandwidth. If you have a registered domain name we can set it up so that it links directly to the space, and I will set you as the alternate exec so you can upload and edit your own content, rather than have to send everything to me.
5. Re: Anyone running any online games? I am good with whatever the group wants to adopt. My personal preference is for the second option, not only for thememory but the potential for disarm to automatically "disarm" a target macro just has a high cool factor to me.
6. Re: Anyone running any online games? Cool.. Check there for an update
7. Re: Anyone running any online games? Ok a couple more questions... How are we handling special damage cases, for example Armor Piercing, Penetrating, Stun Only, and NND? Should we just ignore them for now? Another one that has come up as I work through the tables... How are we handling increased StunX, for example Hammers and the Maul are listed as Having +1 StunX and are killing attacks? The last question is for explosions... this one has always been problematic for Maptools. Any ideas? I have just started building the weapons tables from pages 204 through 209 of 6E Core book two. I should have text file so you can just cut and paste the whole list into the weapons macro tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
8. Re: Anyone running any online games? Here is a text list of the weapons in the current Attack macro weapons file. Just type these names into the builder spelled exactly as in the list to add to your token.
9. Re: Anyone running any online games? How about if I split the CSLs, leave one with the swords, and put one into CSL Shipboard Cannon (I understand that it probably won't come into play that often, but it fits with my backstory)? Cool about the hunted. The Froissement is just a martial disarm by another name. I got it from the fencing martial art in UMA. Let me know if I can help with the weapon stats. I can start with modern weapons leaving you free to concentrate on more campaign specific ones. Incidentally, what is RBR? Rounds Before reload?
10. Re: Anyone running any online games? I added a quick Weapon Builder macro for adding weapons to your token for use with Nol's attack macro. It is a quick way to add weapons or attacks to your token. Note that the weapon or attack must already exist in the lib:combat token that Nol maintains or the attack will throw an error. Also note that the weapon name you add must be spelled the way it is spelled in the lib:combat weapon list. The code is posted in the Other Software Forum.
11. Re: Anyone running any online games? LOL.... you are very cool. I am excited to see how the new attack macro works. On the image, the full body shot was just a fun to do thing. I have just a head shot for the token as we discussed. If you just grabbed a head shot though, I will use your image. The hardest part of the image was getting his left hand to grip the pistol. The gun grip pose I had saved was based on more modern guns so the fingers were in the wrong position. It was kind of weird bending the fingers one knuckle at a time, and the program will let you move them in strange directions. I am still not 100% happy with the thumb position... John will be fine with a privateer crew. There is probably only one ship afloat he would hesitate to fire on, the HMS Narwhal, she having been his home for many years and still being (as far as he knows) under his fathers command.
12. Re: Anyone running any online games? And the initial image... John Hardesty
13. Re: Anyone running any online games? I have two weapons plus my fists, and four martial maneuvers, but two of them are defensive and have no DC's (Parry a form of blocking, and the Froissement which is a fencing disarm).
14. Re: Anyone running any online games? John's Equipment list is in your aim mail box Nol
15. Re: Anyone running any online games? I will grab and test the new campaign file. Also I will have that web space we talked about setup this coming Friday evening. So not by this weeks game, but hopefully soon enough. Do you have a domain name picked out? In other news... I give you John Hardesty. John Hardesty was born to Avalonian Captain James Hardesty, Captain and master of His majesties ship HMS Narwhale. Initially raised by his mother, young John was taken to sea at the age of eight when she perished of the plague. John started as ships boy, and through the years has done just about every job there is aboard a naval warship. Life at sea is hard and the young boy was forced to grow in a hard way. It didn’t help that he was roguishly handsome, and thus was made sport of by his ship mates, being called “ladies man”, and “lover boy” even when not warranted. As with all men they excel in some things and wax average in others. John has become a fair hand and able bodied seaman that can crew any vessel, but he truly excels when at the helm with the wind at his back and the mainsails billowing full. Being raised amongst the crew of a naval warship has also made him a fair hand with ships cannon. At the age of 18 his father called in several favors and got John an appointment to the Royal Naval Academy where he learned navigation and was introduced to the sword. John began to excel as a fencing student and soon was actually challenging his fencing master. That is where his trouble began. In his class was one Carl Smythe, the son of an Avalonian baron, that was jealous of Johns growing skill, and lost no opportunity to bedevil, and torment him. One evening Carl and three of his cronies caught John crossing the academy gardens alone, and decided to put him in his place. During the hazing tempers flashed followed by blades… suffice it to say that it cannot stand for the son of a lowly sea captain to scar the son of royalty. John was dismissed in disgrace from the academy. Now at the age of 21 John has journeyed to the new world in hopes of a fresh start and finding his fortune, far from the vengeful politics of the Baron and his son Carl.
16. Re: Anyone running any online games? I agree in concept with Nol, most users should probably leave it on. But you can also toggle it off, do what you need to do, and then toggle it back on. OTOH the only time I have ever had a drive crashed due to a virus, I had UAC enabled... so in my case it did not help. It is far more important to have a good security suite (I use McAfee), and a good firewall. I also periodically change my passwords and network security encryption key.
17. Re: Anyone running any online games? It stands for User Access Control, and you can turn it on and off from Control Panel -> User Accounts
18. Re: Anyone running any online games? Hiya Sav... I also run Maptools on a laptop with Win 7. I do several things with both Vista and Win 7. 1) I turn off UAC, it adds a layer of protection against unauthorized changes to system files and folders, but with it off your system is still just as secure as XP ever was, and Windows will quit asking your permission to do things, including installs and unzipping into thr program files folder. 2) As Nol said uninstall and re-download and install the latest Java runtime. I install maptools into c:\users\phelix\documents\rpg\maptools. Then I create a shortcut to the Maptoollauncher.exe file on my desktop. 3) On the memory setup screen, I have mine set to 1024 Max 64 Min, and Stack size 4. In the past we have had people get load and connection problems if the memory was not set high enough. I hope this helps.
19. Re: Anyone running any online games? I agree whole heartedly. But we need to be careful not to confuse inaction with stability, as this is the first release in almost 6 months... due to inactivity. If there is new code involved I say wait and see what transpires, unless they happened to release some universe altering new functionality... like native HD import support (yeah like that would happen ) See at this weeks game!
20. Re: Anyone running any online games? A note of general possible interest. Maptools 1.3b64 is out and it is the final stable street release. From here on out Maptools 1.3 will only release "bug fixes", no new features are to be added. It will be several months before they start testing on version 1.4 (which will support true javascript). Of note in the final release, is GM only auras for the tokens. That way a GM can add quick visual reference for things affecting a token, that the player may not be aware of. I am working on a layered status bar thing that not only shows body, but also has one for END, and one for Stun. More later...
21. Re: Anyone running any online games? I want to say thanks for letting me sit in and observe your game last week. If no one minds I will continue to lurk and observe
22. Re: Wolves Lair yep, trying again is always an option. By mid February I will also be ready to run an Alternity Hero campaign, I am deep in the process of converting my original 5th edition Alternity Hero to 6th edition and throwing in some updates from the ultimate series of books. My orginal Alternity was done before even 5th edition Starhero came out so it needs lots of TLC before I will deem it ready for public consumption.
23. Re: Wolves Lair I have to agree with Solron. After discussing this with Terrie, I think we will look for another game opportunity. Thanks anyway for trying Savinien.
24. Re: Wolves Lair The changes have been made the new HDC fpr Vareth is enroute. I am hyped and lookinf forward to this coming Friday. See ya then...
25. Re: Wolves Lair as before thanks for your input! The short answer as to why she doesn't have more maneuvers in the "Knights Sword" is we ran out of points. The in character answer is that she is still a novice at some some things and is activley persueing advancement in training, specifically in continueing to learn this art, and more generally anything that will improve her warrior skills. The area her map covers is the immediate area around the keep. She imagined it at the outset to be an abandoned stone structure, maybe even in need of repair. I am not sure about the cost of upkeep on a small abdandoned keep. IRL I have visited several in Europe (I am a Navy Veteran) that consisted of a small manor house (like a 3 or four bedreoom modern home in size), surrounded by a curtain wall with a couple of watch/guard stations on the parapets. Possibly with a small stable inside the walls to house and care for the couple of horses the residents might have. One time costs might consists of furnishings, and repairs. Ongoing costs would be meals, and a small stipend for her follower/page/manservant. But she would have those recurring costs regardless of whether she had the keep or not. IF (and this could be a big if) she is successful in making any converts in the local area, and persuads a Priest of Asuna to take up residence with her... church could be approached to use tithes to pay for any incidental cost of running the keep, and maybe buidling a small outbuilding/church house?
