  1. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign I have to admit that it is a unique way to flesh out a character. It made me think of my characters history. I was thinking of writing it up as a Larry King or Barbara Walters interview. Actually, I'll probably use a world-specific character/reporter to do it. Can you see Dr. Destroyer on Dr. Phil.... I would love to see what would happen when Dr. Phil tried to hug Dr. Destroyer. Worse yet.... What if Dr. Destroyer broke down and started crying... sobbing about how mother left him alone and his father was a brutal man that beat him on a dailt basis and made him wear a dress. After that... Oprah would jump at getting him on the show. They could bill it as "Dr. Destroyer...A man with a hurt soul"
  2. Re: Wwycd: They Blew It!! Well.... Speaking as somebody WITH Dual-Citizenship, I can tell you that the US does not have dual-citizenship. By their policies, you are either an American citizen or you are a citizen of another country. When I natuaralized in 1995, I was told that you are now an American citizen ONLY. At which time the British Consulate stated, congratulations, you are now a Dual-Citizen. __________________________________________________ Gestalt: "Ha... that figures.. I just get into the superhero game and they change the rules!". Gestalt would stay and go underground. He started off his career in the grey areas and now he is going back there. Shogun: Packs up his power armor and heads off to the UN facilties, he then takes them up on their job offer. Reaper: You do not tell the living incarnation of Death what to do..... He stays and continues to work for the good of those around him. After all, his boss didn't call for the lives of all of those people, so somebody has a balance due, and Reaper is just the person to collect it. Red Knight: Shifts his companies assests to foreign businesses and then hangs around. After all, the villains are not going to quietly leave.
  3. Re: Ouch. I can't come up with anything! Problem?? Maybe, like myself, in need of a fresh start. I have recently found myself in a gully of stagnation. I tried to create a character and seem to always design a Green Lantern or Iron Man-like character. You should step back and take a look at the "big picture". Look at what you do and do not like and then slowly start working your way back into the genre. I found that I had become fixated on a few certain ideas and it was murder to get me out of them. My advice... Step away from the table and books... Take a deep breath and then slowly sit back down again.
  4. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign Yet again, I feel that you have a great group. I have played with groups that would pick fights just so that they could then blast something. Keep up the good work.
  5. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign I for one love this game. Too bad I live almost half a continent alway. I live in Pennsylvania... The Eastern side no less!!! As has been echoed previously, I too would love to play in this game. The players sound really good and the GM... well.. We all know that already. I like "Red Dragon's" Player's idea for the character. Too many times, the "greater attack and defense powers" route is taken by players as a way to "flesh out" a character. Alas, I was guilty of this in my earlier gaming. Now, I look to find a character development hook to balance new powers and such against. Kudos to you all. Oh and yeah..... I NEED MY UNITY FIX!!!
  6. Re: WWYCD: Foxbat The Mighty! I actually ran a short series that involved COSMIC FOXBAT!!!! In my story, Foxbat was stealing a ruby amulet, since that was the first crayon color he saw when he opened the box. While stealing it, he was hot by a tractor-trailer. The ruby shattered and Foxbat was filled with super powers. He returned to the city a few days later, wearing gold and silver foil clothing. (Imagine a 70's look mixed with MC Hammer's Genie-pants) Well, needless to say, he went about proclaiming himself to be COSMIC FOXBAT!!! The problem was that due to his unstable mental abilities and an over-whelming bout of self-doubt, his powers would suddenly fail due to lack of slef-confidence. If he didn't believe he could fly.... then he couldn't. It was fun watching the player's expressions when I told them that Foxbat picked up the armored car and with a surge of super-human strength ripped it open like most people crack open eggs.
  7. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign AH.... That was a good fix!!! I have to give you credit Keyes_Bill, you keep coming up with great advetures and you keep the combats fresh and exciting. My hat is off to you.
  8. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign The time away only makes us want it more... and gives us time to be inspired by your wonderful prose and use this inspiration to further our own meager attempts at crafting a cohesive story that may provide enjoyment to those that play along with us... Steal your ideas and use them in our own game.
  9. Re: Liefeld's Titans I have to say that Liefeld is not the only artist to drastically change the appearance of a character.... Anybody remember the appearance of the "new" Psylocke?? Oh... wait a minute... that was two different artists.... OK nevermind... Liefeld DOES suck!!!!

    Amussing F/X

Re: Amussing F/X OK... that is just plain wierd... I LIKE IT!!! I had a Batman / Shadow hybrid character that had "Personal Wind" No matter where he was , his overly large trench coat would be swaying or flapping in the breeeze. The "breeze" was directly tied to his emotions... Tye angrier he got... the more the breeze effected his clothes... NEVER the hair though. The "breeze" also caused small pieces of paper to swirl around his feet. Later I bought off the "uncontrolled" restriction and he was able to cause his wind to assist him. I just remember seeing a John Woo movie where the hero's coat was moving, but his hair and things around him were not.
  11. Re: Liefeld's Titans The problem is that Liefeld broke into the comic scene at the height of the IMAGE "over the top" reign. When all the characters carried weapons that were WAAAAYYYY to big and size and proportion did not matter. Alas... he still ahsn't gotten past that part. I find it humorous that his style still gets him work... Although I half-suspect that the name is what gets him work.... not his work alone. After all, he did do a jeans commercial!! Oh well, to each their own....
  12. Re: The Coming of Deth Sturm! Hermit.... I haven't had so much fun reading a character write-up as I did with Deth Sturm!! I loved the power write-ups and it really covered the feel of the action genre. REP to you!! Just had to say thanks for the laughs!!!
  13. Re: Liefeld's Titans In Liefeld's defense at least you see a couple of the charaters' feet in the books. Liefeld is awesome at totally destroying and misrepresenting all aspects of human anatomy and THEN, not showing feet. They usually were hidden by terrain and other stuff. Also... I think he split away, FINALLY, from his standard format team... * Old grizzled veteran that usually was huge in comparison to other characters. * Short, "brick" character * Mega Huge "kind hearted" character * Hip and cool, with a touch of edgy long haired character.Usually the close-combat character. * Young female with unearthly body who was eye candy for readers and teammates. I believe I have covered all the characters in all his teams.
  14. First let me say that this is not your usual Catwoman. The Design is being based on the "Panther Prowl Catwoman" action figure from the Legends of the Dark Knight toy line. Here is a pic: The premise of the figure is that Catwoman has a large robotic panther that (I believe) can operate independent of Catwoman but can then transform to become a combat exo-frame that she wears. My question is how would you design this..... From what I can see, there are two (2) different components. 1) Catwoman 2) The robotic panther unit. Components 1 & 2 unite to form unit 3... the power armored Catwoman. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Re: If Superman represents a god, then winged heroes represent angels? Let us not forget that in the DC Universe, they actually had true angel characters. in JLA, there was actually a story arc called War in the Heavens and it dealth with warring factions of angels. Also Biblically, Angels were also used by God as his hand on Earth. If somebody needed punishing for their transgressions... guess what... It's angel time!!! The view that angels are all peace and love didn't come around until the New Testement. In the Old Testement, if you saw an angel, it was not always a good thing....
