  1. I think I like the strength limitation on TK, making it very difficult to "levitate" huge or very heavy characters. a 15 STR TK would lift most normal stuff, but not heavy worlders. The NND modifier really helps define the TK as Gravity, too. I know I can always get the help I need here!
  2. Does anyone have (or wish to create) a build for a Gravity Trap? I'm looking for a simple AoE 1 Hex gravity well that lifts the target(s) into the air, immobilizing them (in 6th Edition). I'm torn between Flight, TK, or Entangle... What are your thoughts?
  3. Well, at least for the time being [in our campaign], we have decided to eliminate Rapid Autofire and replace it with SKIPOVER SPRAYFIRE as described in HERO SYSTEM 6th Edition - Volume 1, page 66. (Rapid Attack Skill, 6E1 87 remains unchanged.) We encountered a similar problem as I originally posted when an armored character with an AoE Line/Autofire + Rapid Autofire unleashed 16 successful 10d6 attacks in 1 action.
  4. BTW: according to this site: "You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day" Otherwise, everyone would have received a "Like" Oh, I forgot to mention Crusade! In our campaign there is the leader of a group of heroes called The Paladin Project (sponsored by the Catholic Church) named Crusade. He's a gold and white vision of inspiration. He's purchased an Always On Transformation (based on magic) to keep his (mostly white) suit clean and in pristine condition. It's crazy how many times it's come into play when in conjunction with Presence Attacks/Orations.
  5. I always thought costuming in hero level campaigns to be a missed opportunity. Imagine a Shadowrunesque HERO game filled with street samurai in their coolest leather coats and whatnot... It makes me laugh that an entire nights haul of Yen ($) could be wasted replacing expensive clothing that is rife with rips and tears form grenades, gunfire and flames. It always makes me giggle (those Tag Heuer sunglasses run over $500/pair). Like (almost) everyone else, I've always hand-waved such minutia... But lately, as we reach a certain level of gaming (hell, almost all of us are over 40 and have been gaming since high school), I'm looking for new ways to inspire roleplaying and interaction with NPCs over senseless combat. It seems like costuming is an easy way to introduce real world problems into a campaign.
  6. You can mine this old Star Wars for HERO document I have: Star Wars stuff.doc
  7. from Steve: I don’t currently have access to all of my books and materials, which have been packed up as part of my home renovation project, so I reserve the right to edit or change this answer at a future time. What you’re describing (Passing Strike + Autofire attack) is a Multiple Attack. The rules for Multiple Attack specifically forbid the use of an Autofire attack as part of one unless a character has the Rapid Autofire Skill (6E2 75). So the answer to your first question is No. If the character has Rapid Autofire, then the answer is Yes. Whether he has Two-Weapon Fighting or not doesn’t matter.
  8. Player's OcV is 10 before skill levels (at least 3) and Martial Arts Bonuses.
  9. Player also purchased Rapid Attack.
  10. Can a character employ a Passing Strike with an attack that includes the Autofire advantage? In addition, what if said character also had Rapid Strike and 2 Weapon Fighting?
  11. Should I be looking at this from an Active Point perspective?
  12. What about damage to regular costumes and armor? Many of my players have some sort of reinforced clothing (a super suit with 5PD/5ED) or actual armor. When in battle I rule that those suits don't take significant damage unless they are broken per weapon/armor rules (surpass their creation cost) in Body. If that does happen, I rule tahat they've been torn or damaged but still provide sufficient protection (unless Ablative, of course)... Thoughts?
  13. We were play testing new characters this Tue. night and one of the players unveiled the following attack as the basis of his character... Passing Strike to two targets in same hex, no velocity on attacks. Two weapon fighting negates -2 overall attack on both prone enemies. Rapid Autofire skill allows both attacks to unleash an autofire, armor piercing attack. Both attacks hit all three times (the maximum of the autofire) = 6 hits for 10d6 Armor Piercing in 1 attack against 2 individuals. Questions: Can anyone find anything illegal with this? Assuming it's legal, would you allow it in your campaign? I haven't often been befuddled in my long career as a HERO System GM, but this one has me stumped. I could sure use some different perspectives.
  14. WHERE'S MY SUPER SUIT??? Hey gang, I was just wondering how you all address the ideas of costuming for your superheroes. The comics have addressed this in several ways, from Unstable Molecules to the Comics Code Authority. Superman's suit was made from his Kryptonian blankets and swaddling by Martha, Spiderman wore an alien symbiote, Batman wears a high-tech Wayne Industry battle suit, Iron Man is, well, Iron Man... Star Labs and Shield often help to provide suits, Green Lantern's is a galactic police uniform created by super-science, Wonder Woman's is forged from Zues' Aegis and Dr. Manhattan is just plain naked! I love some of theses and hate others, but I'd love to hear how you ALL handle superhero costumes in your campaign. I'll start. Honestly, in our long running game (EPIC CITY) we handle suits much like the comics; some are science, some are magical some are armor and some are just continually ruined. I've long wanted to expand on the availability of unique suits and the material and the time necessary to create them. Since my players have just made a major (and permanent) jump back in time, I thought now would be the right moment to exploit such conundrums. Certain things just don't exist in this time. There are no nanites or intergalactic material (our INVASION hasn't happened yet), there are no mystical armors or magical shields to be had (yet), and tech is slightly behind what they're used to (which would make repairs to specialized tools and armor difficult, if not impossible). They think they're going back to a simpler time, and in many ways they are. But I'm afraid that the reality of costuming might be a harsh slap in the face (at least until they figure the specifics out). So how do you handle super heroic costuming. Or do you even care and just hand wave it?
  15. Saw this thread on FTL and thought I'd post how we do it in our game (much of it taken from Star Hero and many other sources): Starship Propulsion Systems.pdf Ships of theTGU.pdf Stasrship Combat in the TGU.pdf
  16. Xanthippe: An expert of covert infiltration. Xanthippe has no innate power other than her ability to fit into any social circumstance. She also wears the Xanthippe Stone. Rumored to have been worn by Xanthippe, the wife of Socrates, it is an artifact of great power. The stone allows its wearer to overcome the effects of exhaustion, lack of food and drink as well as being an antidote for the damaging effects of poisons and drugs (including alcohol). The stone's only drawback is that, when used, it greatly shortens the temper of the wearer causing her to suffer outrageous outbursts and anger accompanied with incredible strength.

  21. I have come across this problem in HERO more than once. A hero has a power that reacts differently as circumstances change... As the moon approaches its zenith a character gets stronger and then back again during a day or perhaps over days as it reaches full moon... The more dense a character gets the less he can stretch... etc. Now, this would be easy to model if it were an on/off situation... But how would you model this on a graduating scale? Let me be more specific. Lets take a character that has a natural STR of 30 for most of the month. We'll call him MoonPaladin (jk intended). However, as the moon approaches full moon (and his god sees fit to provide him with more power) he gets stronger. For 4 days his STR increases until it peaks at 50 (+5 STR/day) TADA, the moon is full... Then, over the next 4 days, he returns to normal (-5 STR/day). How would you build that? How would you build that sort of graduated scale into a suite of powers or a Multipower? Does anyone have any example character for this type of power transition? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thx!
