  1. Re: Need some Scandinavian Villains ! An idea or three breið-øx (broad axe) -- I don't think a list of powers is needed. Shield - Mostly defensive powers... and at high levels Glacier - A giant with ice powers Fenris - shape change, teeth, strength and speed Gokstad - dunno what powers should be. It just sounds like a good name. ulfhednar - I think they're wolf-shirt berserkers or something like that Lastly, the idea of both a hero and a villain named troll sounds like it has some good possiblilities.
  2. Re: Good-by Speedster OK, just had this image pop into my head. Wait til the zippy one is at top speed and blind. Ecv, area effects, whatever you need to overcome his DCV. Can you just see some twit running at 500mph through any urban area suddenly go blind. Ooops!! Who put that pole there... and that wall.... and that car.... ow ow ow ow
  3. Re: Good-by Speedster How about change environment. A whole big area covered with ice or oil or little cactus plants..... whatever. Would require some interpretation by the GM but it might be amusing.
  4. Re: Good-by Speedster (snipped bit aobut turn modes) or into a river, a closed car, a closet, a fire, depending on the speedster's speed and phase they could be put in front of a rapidly moving object like a train......... up was always my favorite though
  5. Re: Good-by Speedster Teleport, as an attack, based on ECV
  6. Re: Super Prisons without Super Tech Custom based on the super. Many bricks, martial types, mentalists, etc without lots of life support or swimming could just be lowered 2000' (or whatever is the limit these days) with a 6" x 12" tube connecting to the serface. MREs dropped down the tube 3 times a day. Sure, they can rip open the sub but ....... pressure is really bad down there. Add the swim time to the surface to weed out those who can take the crush and..... few escapes. I suspect passenger service to orbiting platforms would be more common.
  7. Re: Has the game made anyone like comics even more? I bought Champions in about 84 I think. I started buying comics as a resource for the game. I think I've got about 3500 now and I quit buying them about 11 years ago.
  8. Re: Big Question: How did superpowers come about in your campaign? I have clouds of small meterorites drifting through space. These meteorites are acompanied by a radioactive cloud of unknown type. Everytime a planet passes through one of these clouds, it is bombarded with these meteorites. The distribution is not uniform and parts of the planet get hit by a dense cloud while other parts see few hits. There are scattered hits years before the main event and hits long after but most of the impacts are over a short period of time. There is fire and destruction and then there are strange results. Earth intersected with one of these clouds 4000 years ago and Gilgimesh was born. Around 3200 years ago the Celestial Court influenced China. 2500 years ago and Heracles and Zeus walked the earth. 1800 years ago and Thor fought with giants and Merlin walked the English isles. 800 years ago the jungles of South America saw flying serpants. This time the primay impact area was the eastern half of the US, the northern half of south-America the very west parts of Europe and north-west Africa. Thousands were killed in the blasts but many survived. From those survivors, the powerful were born. I also like the situation in Godlike were people developed powers through sheer will. They can alter reality because they think they can.
  9. Re: light saber color signification This will start up to non-standard lighsaber fans again but.. In a book I saw last night ("The Art of Revenge of the Sith" or something like that) there is a CONCEPT drawing of Plo Koon with a battle gauntlet looking thing that had 2 short light saber blades sticking out like claws. About 2 feet long, parrallel and green. This was just concept art so might not show up in the film but it will be food for thought.
  10. Re: Making a Brick in DC If your designing all the characters then give him real defensive powers but NO offensive ability. A lower CV then the others, no attacks, maybe even 1 point lower speed, and perhaps evengive the non-bricks skill levels and martial arts. Then if the group is attacked while out of uniform then the others will have better combat abilities while the brick can soak up damage. Most of the bricks strength can come from the armor. Any major attacks come from the armor or gearl. Without the armor he is just Joe Average but can take a hit real well.
  11. Re: Armor = Normal Damage A few years ago, there was a fellow around here who was on the police force and played with our local SCA group. He showed up at fighter practice in his vest. He thought if it could stop a bullet, it would be good for our combat as well. For those who don't know. we use rattan, 1.25" thick or more. One swing, not full force, across the gut and he had second thoughts. It took the wind right out of him. Game terms.... he was stunned. A simple stick, 3.5' foot long, swung by a friend, took him out. It would stop most hand gun rounds and most likely a knife as well but the blunt impact was not stopped much. Made for an interesting experiment anyway. He wore his leather and pads the next week.
  12. Re: Teleportation Usable As Attack I had a character who used teleport as a weapon. Area effect, teleport, use as attack, etc... favorite trick was to teleport speedsters directly in front of a concrete wall as they whip along at top speed. Was also fond of teleporting bricks or martial artists directly away from him 20 or so inches, over and over, just as they got close. Just to annoy the crap out of them.
  13. Re: Need "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" Stats Well, he did stop a club that was being swung by a 12'-15' giant. I would up the strength to 35 or 40. Max out his speed and PD to whatever you think is tops. Since people go flying all over when he hits them, I'd give him increased knock back or maybe all heroes automatically get this when fighting mooks since some other main characters do this. Acrobatics Combat levels, seems to know all weapons Can catch arrows and javelins so missile deflection. That should get you going.
  14. Re: Power level for God I agree. It depends on power level. Take the gods of the Norse, c800. A viking champion with a str 18, dex 15, con 18, spd 3 and several levels of melee combat. Say a total of 75 points. Add chainmail and a broad-axe. Now, a man with 40 str, 25 dex, 20 con, and spd 5 is a god. Thor could be built for under 250 points. In a world of normals....it doesn't take much to be a god. Point wise anyway.
  15. Re: Expanded Everyman Skill List Everyman skills should be from a list where you get X number of this list at 8- for free. A jock or cheerleader might get seduction but a different sort would have KS:comics, games or some science skill in it's place. Situational everyman skills: A woman who gre up in the 50s would have cooking but one who gre up in the 90s might not. Might have KS:auto mechanics or KS: pro-sports instead. There are plenty of people in major metropolitan areas who have little or no experience driving but have other skills in their place. I agree that computer programming is not an everyman skill. Almost everyone I know can send email. From 5 to 60 it can be done but 90% of these people wouldn't be able to recognize code if it bit them. KS: Highschool education at 8- or higher works well. Maybe split between KS: Highschool sciences and KS:Highschool liberal arts. That allows academics who can't recognize a sonet and wanna-be writers who flunked chemistry.
  16. Re: That's An Odd-Looking Eye You Have... Just for giggles you could add an activation roll. If the roll is failed then it means the eye is pointing down or into a corner or something un-planned that the GM can have some fun with. Roll the eye down a coridor to see into the next room. You fail the roll and all you see is the cat box in the closet.....or maybe you REALLY blew the activation roll and now the cat is playing with it. Sounds like a Mystery Men movie sort of thing.
  17. Re: Classing Naming: (this) and (that) Nobody has mentioned Rock and Roll yet? odd. How about Hammer and Tongs
  18. Re: Do characteristics break the Hero way of doing things? I put stat inflation down as being the fault of various revisions of the game over the years. When I first played Champions in 81-82, a character was built on 100 points plus up to 100 disadvantages. There weren't enough points to build the dex 25/spd 5-6 guys unless that was your a big chunk of your power. My character had a dex 23 and a speed of 6 and was the fastest in the game. She had a def of 10 and an electic powed MP with an 11d EB. She had to avoid damage the way they do in the comics, by using actions to dodge or take cover. I had enough points left over to splurge on a Pre of 13. I to have looked at the possiblity of melding fudge and hero.
  19. Re: If you could add one more... Characteristic: Agility and something for manual dexterity in adition to the dexterity already included. Maybe change the existing dexterity characteristic to Coordination (for hand-eye coordiination). Agility would be bosy movement, dexterity would be for manual work like picking pockets and coordination would influence shooting and punching. It has always bothered me that almost all role playing games have one stat that influences acrobatic ability and picking locks. If the real world were the same as in RPGs then every watch maker would be a world class gymnist and every circus acrobat would be a top rated gun fighter. I added Agility to my DnD games years ago and it seemed to work well. Also since the Int characteristic is more of a how fast you think sort of thing I house ruled speed to be dex/10+int/10 instead of just dex/10+1.
