  1. I think we can lay that on Republicans in general w/o singling out Trump. I'm fairly certain most (if not all) the 'R' candidates would have been more than happy to sign off on either of those goals.
  2. Low flying asteroids. Think of it like an extreme version of Sporting Clays -- with the bonus of saving the human race from an extinction level event...
  3. Which reminds me I've got some Paulaner I haven't been drinking due to the amount of time I spend working... (And reading political rantings) (I'm also tired enough not to notice how far up thread the comments I was responding to were and didn't think to snag the appropriate quotes - bed is calling so I can go back to work)
  4. What about this election struck you as particularly 'normal'? (I'm still holding out for Giant Meteor -- it's not 2017 yet...)
  5. I'm good with rejecting reality through xmas. (work gets nutz... )
  6. Small, perhaps, relatively speaking. Vanishingly, I'm afraid not. Regardless of outcome, I expect to hear claims of voter suppression activities from the Democrats and claims of voter fraud from the Republicans. Normally, I would expect to see these as odd background blurbs with no particular impact in general. Given the pot Trump has been stirring, I'm not feeling as comfortable that the election will be settled quietly in the event of a Clinton victory or that the outcome will be accepted fully. Normally the worst outcome I depress myself with is that 4 years down the road I'll still dislike the winner and enough people disagree with me that I'll have to suffer through 4 more years. Normal isn't a word used to describe this particular election very often. We can still hope the hyperbole and hyperventilation is just that and the losers will just stare in stunned disbelief for a few moments and then start muttering about 2020.
  7. Two more days, and hopefully we can get back to just complaining about politics as usual -- mostly off site. On site we can spend our time posting funny stories and arguing the most efficient build for any given power, DC movies vs Marvel movies, or trying to compare Batman and Captain America.
  8. They found a thing, that was part of another thing, which might relate to an earlier thing. They're thinking about it. Publicly. 'News' 24/7. Until the next thing.
  9. Adding to the 'it's been a while since the last time' list: McMullin has a real chance of being the first 3rd party candidate to win electoral votes in 48 years. http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/21/politics/evan-mcmullin-utah/index.html
  10. Absentee ballot now in the hands of the USPS. Now if only that meant I didn't have to see any more election stuff... On the plus side, I picked up a sheet of Star Trek stamps while I was at the post office. On the 'hmmm' side (since I live in a battleground state): Candidates were listed in alphabetical order by last name. That put Clinton first and Trump last on the list for President. The party affiliation of the Libertarian candidate was left blank. Only Trump/Pence included their middle initials (I assume that was a campaign choice, but it was noticeable). I assume the ballot design is State-wide. I live in a county that tends Democrat, but the Governor and Secretary of State are both Republicans. Minor 'nits', but unfortunately this isn't an election cycle where we can assume they won't be picked...
  11. Even better, I believe this is supposed to be a town hall format. The questions don't come from the moderator. They come from the audience.
  12. I tend to view the DP-12 as a solution looking for a problem (and I'm pretty sure I don't want to meet the problem that requires a quick 12 gauge double-tap before cycling the action)...
  13. Probably both. (Does that mean they'd cancel each other out?)
  14. I should be so lucky. Besides, if I dwell too much on "truly terrible" with my choice for worst pick for prez I might as well engrave my name on a bullet. Fortunately I know worst case scenarios don't always happen and media hyperbole during the political season tends to be even more over the top than usual.
  15. No, you're distracted. Come January, one of that pair will be President in all probability. If we're lucky, neither will be truly terrible if elected.
  16. USS Constellation from the planet killer episode was NCC-1017. Depending on how much the Federation plays with the hull registry numbers, I'd say we're within the TOS continuity at least broadly speaking though we're probably talking pre-Enterprise/Kirk.
  17. It's nice to see I'm not the only one thinking that the ship looked part-Klingon in it's design philosophy as a first impression. The saucer aesthetics definitely look TOS-ish. Have to get a bridge shot and maybe a look at the uniforms to form a better ideal It also looks as if the impulse engines are in the wings (looked too bulky to be pylons, imo), I don't believe I've ever seen a Federation design like that. The impulse engines are usually part of the saucer section, I believe. On the plus side, it doesn't seem to be basing off the JJ-verse at first blush. We see the ship leaving spacedock, not lifting off out of a planetary atmosphere. But that may be wishful thinking on my part. In any event, I'm highly unlikely to subscribe to a streaming service for a single program.
  18. Well, third party candidates being spoilers IS conventional wisdom. And conventional wisdom seems to have been locked in its room like the crazy relative nobody listens to in a horror novel this election. However, the best I'd really expect of the third party candidates is that they move the needle enough that the mainstream press actually have to acknowledge their existence. Of course I also expected Donald Trump to have faded back into the world of 'reality TV' by the time New Hampshire rolled around...
  19. True enough. Your vote doesn't count until (unless) you actually cast it.
  20. Has either stolen the other's mascot/school rock yet?
  21. Very... I've seen three barrels before, but this is the first time I've seen four.
  22. I recall reading that Win10 was going to be rolled out in waves rather than being immediately available to everyone. Probably on CNN's site but I don't have the time or energy to go digging right now.
  23. Gee, this isn't an incident asking to happen... http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/01/news/companies/iphone-case-gun/index.html?iid=ob_homepage_money_pool&iid=obnetwork
