Washington, of course, has scads of 'em.
I expect that Republican zealots *will* try interfering with mail-in ballots as Archer has described. Maybe even trying to rip out and destroy drop boxes in Dem-friendly regions. But I also expect attempts to thwart in-person voting, such as groups of armed men outside polling places demanding to see voter registration cards (according to a recent newspaper article, the law against this sort of blatant voter intimidation was repealed). I have also heard the suggestion that Putin may try interfering by blacking out cities on Election Day, so people will be reluctant to leave their homes and electronic voting machines can't run until generators are hooked up. (it's already established that the power grid's security is grossly insufficient.) It's also possible that voter rolls are being hacked into, to cast further doubt on the results.
It's why Dems need massive turnout, big enough to overcome the likely fraud and suppression. Trump will still claim fraud, but but with a big enough, clear enough loss, his own attempts to rig the vote just become more indictments.
No sitting out this election because no candidate is precisely what you wanted.

wcw43921 reacted to Ragitsu in Star Trek (The Next Generation): Your favorite episodes?
The best interpretation is that, within The Federation, essentials - shelter, nutrition, communication, healthcare, education, transportation, et cetera - are all free. If you desire a luxury or a specific occupation, you have to seek it or work for it. When it comes to interacting with non-Federation species, the Federation allots its citizens (or Starfleet members) a stipend of intergalactic credits that can be used for trade. With this system in place, the overwhelming majority of economic conflict is external.
Needless to say, I DEFINITELY prefer what they're doing over our bog standard capitalism.

wcw43921 reacted to Pariah in Star Trek (Voyager): What's the Best Episode?
I would argue that the series finale, Endgame, is as strong as either All Good Things (TNG) or What You Leave Behind (DS9). It's certainly better than These Are The Voyages... (Enterprise), although that's not a high bar to clear.
I also enjoyed the episode Thirty Days, where Tom Paris spends a month in the brig for breaking orders.

A man goes to a funeral and asks the widow: Mind if I say a word?" She says: "Please do." The man clears his throat and says: "Bargain."
The widow replies: “Thanks that means a great deal.”

My girlfriend is fed up of my constant wordplay jokes, so I asked her, "How can I stop my addiction?"
“Whatever means necessary,” she replied.
“No it doesn’t,” I said.

For me, the definitive Captain America moment came in Mark Gruenwald's run, during the Scourge of the Underworld story arc. The Water Wizard (fairly obscure villain) finds Cap and takes him to The Bar With No Name, where the Scourge has massacred more than a dozen third-string super-criminals. "You have to be our hero," the Water Wizard says. Even most of the supervillains trust that Cap will do right by them -- now that's a hero!

Usually my answer is "Whoever's comic I happen to be reading--" whether it's DC, or Marvel, or any of the other heroes in comics, or movies or TV.
But if I were honest with myself--there's only one answer.
For now--for always--SUPERMAN.

Ellison hated what the producers did to his story nad refused to acknowsledge it as his own for the rest of hjis life. Having read the teleplay he wrote, I think the changes were a substantial improvement.

I did feel pity for Charlie Evans, because despite being physically adult he was obviously still a child. No training or experience in social context or emotional self-control, never having had to take responsibility for his actions, turned loose in an environment where he could do whatever he wanted without consequences. The result was inevitable. But all he really wanted was what he never had, acceptance and companionship from others like himself. And when that was finally in his grasp it was taken away.
