  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From Serenity: "I'm a Scotsman and that means any drinking vessel is an improvised weapon in my hands"
  2. Re: Villian Relocation Most villains will relocate with decent bait. Demon- could definitely see a shadowy circel of cultists commiting rituals in the gothic sewers of Paris. Lots of artifacts and "objectes artes" pass through Paris to be sold at auction or displayed who knows what poweres they actually have. Viper- Have a small to medium sized cell to run day to day blackmial, extortion andmmaybe drug rackets. They also keep the ear to the ground for work requiring them to hire in specialists for heist or terrorism. Detroyer- Paris is a capital city with lmany embasssies why not have the Doctor have one established. Diplomatic intrigues and incidents abound. Foxbat- Read (well looked ot the photgraphs he doesn't speak French) and article in a Sunday magazine of Figaor or Le Monde about him. Moves to France where is genius will be appreiciated. Tech seeking Villains- Pairs is a city where deals are done and has several high tech industries based there or a little further north to Lille. Heits and espionage opportunities. Green card- Super merc tires of the rat race and realises he can't settle down anywhere civilised. No problem he signs up to the foriegn legion. The French goverment is unsure to begin with but is convinvced that this an opportunity for publicity. The merc does his tour with flying colours and is offered citizenship. Is he trusted by all, a hero to armed forces from his tour, have enemies cahsing, turned over a new leaf, have a secret agenda. Borders- The EU has made it easier to travel across europe. Villain from any European nation could turn up your heroes may need to chase down. Several such as Menton and Dark Seraph have been mentioned already. American homage- Grab a wereolf, base like villain. Attach a french name and throw him into the countryside.
  3. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign Fantastic game. I love the updates. It will be a sad day when you call time on thegame. I certainly hope you will run a similar thread.
  4. Re: Thinking About DARK CHAMPIONS BATTLEGROUNDS I like the ideas for an Airport, department store, factory and the hotel casino. Off the top of my head for large locations: Country Club Stock Exchange Police HQ/station Docks
  5. Re: Hudson City Blues It is indeed a British debit card. I'd like to support my LGS. One ,as they are the venue for the game and two, because by supporting it and buying Hero products from there I can get the store owner to carry the product and hopefully get to play a game as well as run. I'm tricksy you see.
  6. Re: Hudson City Blues Sorry I meant order. LGS currently isn't stocking Hero, will soon as the store owner is in the game. Would make some purchases online but you don't take switch
  7. Re: Hudson City Blues Thanks for the response Steve. I think with it being new players to the system I should be able to keep things in check. I love HCB it was a great adventure when I played and I want my players to experience the same. I heartily agree on Jack. He was my favourite PC I ever ran and thanks to his thrillseeker clowning attitude probably the most wanted by criminal organizations in the game. I guess I can always throw him back in. Sounds like the New Dark Champs will get pre-ordered through my store today. I'm running with 4th ed rules I may upgrade around my birthday in March but there are too many things I'm after right now. I really love the new stuff coming from you guys and long may it continue.
  8. Re: The dreaded Pokemon question... Actually run with a transform all or nothing and give the pokemon power defense only vs capture balls to allow you to distinguish. If you don't want body (doesn't suit a pokemon setting but I don't what you're doing) you could rule off of stun +power def. This would also allow for deifferent capture equipment. More dice. Continous over so many phases. AP vs Power def. etc.
  9. Re: The dreaded Pokemon question... Transform with the all or nothing limitation would work. Entangle linked to; extra dimensional travel requires extra time full turn, cancelled if entangle broken usable vs others, limited to "pokemon". To pocket diemsion. OAF/OIF poke ball That sort of thing?
  10. Re: Hudson City Blues Good points. My concern was the templates in Hudson City blues were 150 points herois and the adventure states that groups of armed thugs should make the PCs think. Maybe I'll up the points during creation if they are limiting.
  11. Re: Super-Skills Megathread At Levi I'm loving do you trust me. Alot of good ideas here. I want to put a few ideas in right now I'll edit later when I work out the points cost. One Call Away- The character has so much influence over his contacts they are available 24/7. Summon, must be in campaing city limits -1/2, takes extra time (an hour) -21/2?, only contacts from list -1/2, requires contacts roll -1/2. winning smile The character can really turn on the charm to get what he or she wants. +4 skil lvls w seduction/persuasion/bribery requires successful conversation roll (-1/2), only useable opposite sex/sexual orienatation (-1/2). Cost 10 pts.
  12. Hi all, First off while I know Hudson City is complete I have to add a small begging on my kneees moment please Steve please tell me you kept in Jack!! That done on with my post. Alright, I'm planning to run Hudson City Blues for a group of first timers of the system/genre. I would like to run superheroic (points buy everything) rahter than heroic as a dissuasion to gun bunnies which ruled the roost last time I ran. I'm thinking 225 points inclusive of 150pts disadvantages. Can anyone make recommendations to other limits. (I'm thinking spd 4, 50 active points in offense, no more than 8 resistant def, no superpowers/maybe minor). Also i have a player who wants to play a mystical orientated hero. While I'm quite kee to include mysticsm in the settiing I'm concerned I'll be letting in too much super to the setting. I've considered converting Hell rider from Horror Champions for the job as most of his powers can be subsituted by tech (though the horse is going for sure!). Any tips on keeping balance so that I don't tumble too far down this rabbit hole and end up with a party of pychic , mystic demons of doom? Lastly the new Dark Champions. How much new material? I will definitely be buying Hudson City but has Dark Champions have enough of an update or is mainly reprint? I know we're all fans here but please be honest. I'd rather spend the money on another hero system book for champs or sci-fi if Dark Champions is mostly old content so my money is staying here.
