If you look at extant Trek rather than McQarrie's design, it looks like A Klingon D7 back (triangular and lowered nacelles)  and Fed Saucer. The music got decidedly drum based and Klingonish when that part of the ship came into view. I'm cool with that.

I just want to know what era/timeline it's going to be in. Visually it looks Pre-TNG. Maybe even pre-TOS.

I don't get that station, but I'm sure I;ll find them somewhere to watch.

I dunno. Galaxy Quest left a very high bar for Star Trek satire.

I grew up during the heart of the Cold War. My whole generation lived with the constant fear in the back of our minds that our world could disappear in nuclear fire at any moment. I remember one Sunday morning waking up to a rushing sound building above my house. My first thought was, "The missiles are coming down." (Yes, I realize now I wouldn't hear a falling missile. I had just woken up, cut me some slack.) I hoped I was near ground zero so I would die quickly. Then the sound resolved into the familiar chop of a low-flying helicopter. But that was where our minds were in those days.

It didn't happen. It could have. There was a lot of luck, and behind-the-scenes work, behind that outcome, but it didn't happen. We found the wisdom not to destroy ourselves. Climate change is a real and great threat, but most of the world is awake to that threat now, and I believe we'll find a way to survive that too. A small group of ignorant people will not sink all of us, even if we handed them the power to do so. We'll work to not let them.

It will be messy, but the human race has been through many messes. The Trump administration won't be as big a mess to clean up as some others.

Just a radical thought here: Could we judge the movie after it comes out? It probably will suck (it was made way too late for Warner's to accurately judge the backlash against BvS), but we won't know for sure until the movie's released. Right now it exists in a state of quantum uncertainty.

(Apologies to all the physicists on the board. High school physics bored the sh** out of me.)

Also, why are people picking on Gal Gadot because of her figure? Has anyone gone after Hugh Jackman for not being short or Christopher Reeve for not looking like a '60s Curt Swan drawing?

Complaining that a candidate who won the popular vote didn't win the election is a little like complaining that the football team that amassed the most yards of offense didn't win the game.

"Yards of offense" is an important stat, but it's not what decides the outcome of the game. What decides the outcome of the game is "Points scored". Similar and linked, yes, but not the same.

Similarly, we do not now nor, to my knowledge, have we ever determined the Presidency of the United States in terms of the popular vote. It's the Electoral College vote that really matters. Always has been.

What we need is for those that don't support Trump to understand why so many people felt so disenfranchised and ignored by the "media elite" and policy makers that they elected someone with so many personality flaws to the presidency. If that communication can happen we can get actual growth - not just name calling of supporters from one side or the other. Much of middle/lower class America has felt ignored, mocked and brushed off that they finally said 'Enough is enough"

Think about jokes made at the expense of "white trash" or rural Americans, (people who work hard all their lives only to see jobs going overseas and health care costs rising) - the jokes made at thier expense by comedian of the stripe of Bill Maher ... if those jokes were made about any other group (Minorities, Islam, women) the person would be off the air and careers destroyed. It makes sense that the butt of those jokes decided to make a statement about change, even supporting someone they may find personally distasteful.

Personally I don't like Trump, but I can completely understand why he was elected. I'm hoping the shock of Hilary's defeat will make the liberal elite actually try and figure out why and communicate with them - and build a better future that includes them; instead of mocking and ignoring them as has been done by Washington insiders for decades.

This is how I view my duty to vote: I'm not worried about "realpolitik" - I'm not worried about who can win, or who can't. Who has national support or who does not. My vote is my conscience, choosing the single candidate that I feel that most exemplifies my goals for the country, and that is a person I can, in good faith, trust. I don't vote to win, I vote for the single best candidate. It's not a wasted vote, it's how I can live with myself with a field of despicable choices. I've voted for third party presidential candidates twice in my life, and am proud of that fact.

Vote Entitlement is not a good thing. Simply sayIng "but he's worse" is just a play on "but Stacey hit me first, mom!* It is not endearing.

I voted third. I could not get behind a candidate who is anti immigration. I could not get behind one that put us in every single war in my lifetime. I could not get behind someone who has the temperament of a child. Nor one that risked war with Russia. I could not get behind someone who thinks our 2nd amendment rights are not subject to due processe. Nor ones that thought domestic mass spying was a legit use of power. I could not get behind someone who felt that Executive Orders were acceptable substitution for laws. I couldn't join a cause that uses racist language nor race baiting language. Couldn't join one that has destroyed student due processes protections on campus.

Secretary Clinton must earn support. We are not subjects to be drudged up once every four years. Treating the electorate like a mindless minion for your will does not work.

The Dem. party's expectation of compliance is vulgar. It as nonsensical as me saying "had only all you idiotic Clinton supporters voted Gov. Johnson, we wouldn't be in this mess. How dare you!"

People must be appealed to. The data is clear in its proof that Sec. Clinton's fear campaign (Fear Senator Sanders, fear Trump, fear Gov. Johnson, fear Dr. Stein) failed her and her party.

Let's pretend I lived in Maryland. This says that instead of counting my vote, and the votes of other Marylanders, toward choosing the President, the State wants to use votes cast in places like in Texas, California, Florida, and New York to choose the President.

Way to surrender your sovereign rights as a State of the Union, Maryland.

I will vote for Rob Bishop until he stops running. Why? I posted a concern about something on his webpage form. He called me back personally a few days later. Not a secretary, not an automated call, but him personally. Utah is lower population, so that is more reasonable then say New York but that touch of humanity won my loyalty.

The article I read yesterday (which I can't find at the moment) has Sanders specifically telling the Democrats in Congress to get out of Washington D.C and go see how real working people in America live. I think that's sound advice for all elected leaders.

    Indeed.

Speaking of young voter apathy, though, it should be noted that young(ish) voters were the principle drivers for third party candidates. Overall the third parties picked up about 5%. But for voters under 40, it was almost double that (8-9%).

Even the narrative of voters not showing up is incorrect. It is true that there was lower overall voter turnout this year than in the previous two cycles, but that turnout was equally depressed on both sides. That depression was also relatively minor. The "Democratic base" showed up at the polls but couldn't bring themselves to 100% commit to what was on the plate.

Why do we know this to be the case? Because, despite there being an overall decline in voter turnout, the Republican voter share didn't increase. Had it been a Democratic Depression alone, we would have seen the Republican share rise in equal proportions. It didn't. Republicans faced off against the exact same numbers of non-Republicans. But their opposition was not united.
