  1. Re: Godzilla Final Wars Hero / Kaiju meet Supers Aww...not soon enough, then! I read some reviews about it, and it sounds about like what you'd expect from an everyone vs. Godzilla movie. I can't wait to see it. And on that Kaiju game, I did remember one other thing from it. I'm a big fan of crossovers, and the bugs from ALIENS are perfect for crossing over into other types of games. Imagine some of those Alien eggs irradiated by some weird nuclear accident, so that they've grown gigantic in size. Now imagine one of those giant facehuggers latching on to, say, Godzilla(catching him with his guard down). Of course, Godzilla is likely to survive the chestburster, but that leaves at least one huge, super-powerful alien with some of the King's own powers running around. Then to make things worse, I had that "drone" Alien molt into a Queen Godzillaburster...'twas a fun battle indeed.
  2. Re: Godzilla Final Wars Hero / Kaiju meet Supers I've played a game not quite the same, but similar. But rather than having the PCs fight the giant monsters...each PC had the ability to turn into one instead. It was a space-traveling game, where they flew around to different planets and whatnot and encountered various monsters/NPCs and fought both in and out of monster form. It was actually kind of a cool game, especially when I put 'em in situations where transforming wasn't an option. And as far as Final Wars goes...when is it supposed to come out? I've been literally foaming at the mouth(or is that glowing?) to see it since I heard about it. I wanna see the King kickin' the crap out of everyone! My favorite of 'em so far has been Godzilla vs. Biollante...but that might change once I see this movie. I hope it comes out soon!
  3. Re: Blowing up a mountain
  4. Re: Blowing up a mountain Indeed, I'm using that writeup as a baseline for how to construct most of the powers. It was extremely useful for helping me create the races as well. The main difference is that I believe I read he toned it down just a bit for play; I plan on running the game in all its world-shattering glory. Yes, I suppose the exact formula wouldn't be too important, however I could definitely use it so that I know what kind of damage those mountain-crushers do when they do hit. RKA 15d6(with an explosion)? More? Less? I think I read somewhere that Earth has Def 5, Body 86, so I'd think a mountain would be somewhere around 30 to 40. Anyone who wants to speculate on this would be most welcome. Thanks for the help folks, I think this will be a fun game.
  5. I'm patiently waiting for my copy of Ninja Hero so I can best run a Dragon Ball Z/GT game, and since we're starting off at low Saiyan Saga power levels, it brought up a question...what would it take to blow up a mountain? Not necessarily vaporize every inch of it, but hell even Master Roshi could blow most of the mountain apart with the Kamehameha. Anyone have a rough idea in terms of damage/megascale needed? Thanks in advance.
  6. Re: Arms Fall Off Lad This ability would work great for Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil. I'd been wondering how something like that would be written up.
  7. I was wondering how you might build a power that fools a Detect, not Invisibility but the Detector actually "sees" something different. An example of this would be several of the more powerful demons in my game, some of which can appear Angelic/Holy to those who can Detect Demons/Unholy. I thought a limited Mind Control, Triggered by the Detect, only to make the Detector see something different, but this seems too complicated for such a simple effect. Anyone have any ideas?
  8. Re: Spirits of Vengeance Hmm, I should've probably been more specific. Does anyone have any ideas for Strength/Body levels of either of these two heroes? The hellish bike is pretty easily converted, as are the mystic chains and hellfire blasts, so that leaves only the Characteristics and the Penance Stare. The Penance Stare I was thinking would be a massive Ego Attack most likely, only vs. evil beings, but perhaps there are better ways to do this. It makes the recipient feel the emotional trauma they have inflicted on others, intensified to a certain magnitude if I remember correctly. I also don't believe it's fatal, but I know that GR has taken many a foe out of commission with it. My players are interested in a supernatural Champions-style game, and so far we have one vampire mage, a werewolf warrior/shaman(similar to those in Werewolf), and hopefully, a character like Ghost Rider/Vengeance to go with them.
  9. Has anyone yet done a write-up for Ghost Rider, or preferably, Vengeance? I know there's not much difference between the two, but I would imagine Vengeance is a bit stronger and not quite as fast. I'm curious as to an approximate strength level of the two, if anyone knows where a write-up can be found or has done one, please let me know.
  10. I have a question about applying experience points. Say you have an Energy Blast 3d6, Armor Piercing(+1/2). Normally, it costs five CP to raise that by another 1d6, but do you have to factor in the Advantage, as well? So instead I would have to spend 5 x (1 1/2)=7.5=7 XP to raise my Energy Blast? Also, if you have let's say 30 STR, and a naked Reduced Endurance Advantage for it, and then you increase your STR by a couple points, you need to also increase the naked Advantage to cover the new level, correct? Thanks for your time!
  11. Ok, I wrote a crossover story a few years ago. The story was crap, but the idea still interests me as a possible campaign. Basically I was thinking of combining the Metroid/Mega Man X/Zero universes. The idea was that it is far in the future of even the Mega Man Zero games, where things are more like in Metroid--there is a large "Galactic Federation" or somesuch, with several alien species that either belong to or trade with the Federation. There are jumpstations where ships can recharge while waiting for a jump and characters can mingle with various aliens/robots/people, and similar things seen in the games such as colonized/uncharted planets and space pirates of varying races. This is what I borrow from Metroid, now for the parts from the Mega Man X/Zero series. Mega Man X takes place 100 years after the original MM series, and Mega Man Zero about 100 years after that. This campaign takes place well in the future of the Zero series, long after mankind and Reploids have taken to the stars. By and large, Reploids have taken up with the Galactic Federation, but there are also many that live as merchants or scientists or pirates, anything really since they earned their freedom several hundred years ago in the campaign. Mavericks are non-existent as in MMZ, and X is "dead." By this I mean that a possible plotline later will be finding a way to bring him back in some fashion or another, perhaps. Zero is part of the Federation Space Marine Corps, as the "military" life is all he's ever known. Bounty hunters exist and are hired for all sorts of jobs, mostly those the Corps is unwilling to take on or are illegal. From time to time, of course, this brings the hunters and the Corps into conflict, sometimes with space pirates involved. I think the campaign would work, it's one I would really like to try. Crossover games can be fun if done correctly. But the problem is the characters. The characters from MMX/Z and Metroid are powerful, as they have to be, so I am curious as to whether or not anyone has written any of them up. I tried to create Zero, but the point cost was a little high. Maybe this is as it should be, otherwise a little tweaking might solve it; the main things I need to cover for Reploids are fairly easy, and bounty hunters should be easier than that. Space pirates as seen in the Metroid games also seem pretty straightforward, and I can come up with other variations no problems thanks to Hero's unmatched versatility. The thing is, I'm still pretty new to the Hero system(not RPGs) and I was hoping someone might have stats for Samus or Zero or anyone from the MM games for reference. Actually, any input at all is most appreciated. It'll help me determine the best way to go about running this campaign smoothly. Thanks and sorry 'bout the long post!
  12. How exactly does SER affect BODY damage? I'm running a high-powered anime style game and I'm not going to want to roll 30+ dice for EBs and whatnot. Thanks for the help!
