  1. Re: Invisible damage? Opal, it's the latter. The players usually know how much they hurt opponents, but once in a while it might be interesting to have them face someone who seems really tough - until they are dead or critical. It could just be GM fiat, but I'm envisioning a power like "appears to be completely healthy". If it's statted and has a story (a new drug on the street, etc.), the players will respect it and work with it. If it's a GM fiat, I'm afraid they'll revolt with "Of course my superhero can tell how hurt someone is! You're just screwing with my character!". That's icky.
  2. OK, so a character can get hit with STUN and BODY damage that get through defenses, but there are no visible indications the character is hurt. The character knows there is damage, but it doesn't show. This is one of those rare times where I'm not sure how to build this. Invisible attacks, no problem. But how do you make damage invisible?
  3. Re: Godzilla? Godzilla destroys 10-story buildings with casual strength. I don't think 150 STR is anywhere near enough for that. He'd have to do some hideous amount of BODY damage, just walking. And he doesn't just break a hole in a wall. He routinely levels 2-story homes just walking. I'd say he was a plot device.
  4. Re: The Forever Man Just drop him in the Sun. He'd die during the regeneration period - and he'd die reeeeally fast. Heck, his ashes would be torn to atoms and dispersed, he might not regenerate at all. The downside - a chance he would feel it, being torn to atoms for billions of years. If he's willing to go through with that... I doubt I'd help him, but giving him the method is free. If he has second thoughts, all for the better. Help him find a reason to live.
  5. Re: The book I want more then any other.... A dictionary?
  6. Re: FTL vs. Lots of Megascale Movement Back to the OP: Megascale movement suffers from relativity and can never actually achieve light speed, much less FTL. It suffers from 1/sqrt(1- v^2/c^2) effects to mass, distance and time. Duh.
  7. Re: Tk Question If you step on a manhole cover that you've lifted with TK, a logical impossibility occurs and eliminates the entire timeline. Just like dropping a cat with butter on its back.
  8. Re: A cheaper flashlight If Char. A has Active Sonar and Char. B has Passive Sonar, both were in an anechoic chamber (deadens sound) designed to neutralize Passive Sonar and Hearing - I'd say the Passive Sonar guy can get information from the energy produced by Active Sonar guy. Of course, Active Sonar guy can see just fine in the "dark", but he'd have trouble seeing the walls. Stuff in the room would reflect sound like normal. So a new guy with Active Sight shows up, how does he see? He emits light. He sees the reflections produced. Surrounded by people with Passive Sight, he's a boon in the darkness. Universal Handheld focus; Fuel Charge; sounds like a flashlight to me.
  9. Re: 0" Flight? Can't go up, can't move sideways, can stop falling - Life Support: Falling. SFX, stops instantly whenever he wants.
  10. Re: Need Perjoratives! Belgian. From Douglas Adams' use of "Belgium".
  11. Re: Creative or just munchkin? I think it depends. What are your stats like when you're stoned? Are you stomping on another player's schtick? I.e. if you are the team brick (as it sounds like you should be), it's less of a concern than if you are a mentalist. Are you double dipping? Using the increased stats to boost figured characteristics? Or will this be No Figured? Doesn't really matter to me actually - I'm back to the original question "What are your stats like when you're stoned?". I like the concept. It'd be a better visual if it included "does damage to the environment" ('cause I see it as ripping up the ground at your feet). If you see it differently, that would improve your description. If you are tempted to play like a munchkin (multiple succors to become god-like at a frequent rate), drop it.
  12. Re: Istvatha V'han - why can't she conquer Earth? Earth has one superhero that is "under the radar" - he doesn't enter into the limelight, doesn't fight crime, etc. His power is super-intelligence. That's it. He knows about Istvatha V'han, and has accepted as his only task the protection of Earth from this overwhelming threat. With her forces spread out, Istvatha V'han has many, many things to worry about. Earth's defender subtly ensures that it is never the right time to attack Earth. A rumor here, an anonymous tip there, all the right contacts, and each time Istvatha V'han's eye turns towards Earth - something pops up that makes her think twice.
  13. Re: New Advangtage: Always Hits How much do you plan to charge for the Advantage "Never Gets Hit" or the even better "Never Takes Damage"?
  14. Re: EMERGENCY HELP: I need an adventure idea STAT Scuba zombies. Sleepy seaside town, witch in the woods with a grudge, dead scuba divers (death occurs at beginning of adventure or is backstory) rise up all grotesque and strange in the dark. They rampage, but have a target. Can't be stopped until the witch is discovered.
  15. Re: Telekinesis - Earth Only I'd say any characters wanting to ride the gravel-bus would have to make that decision on their own & make DEX checks / grabs / etc. in order to stay on top. If PCs didn't want to be affected by the gravel, they can avoid it with minimal effort. The player controlling the gravel would not be in control. Same for TK - Earth only. If that player lifts a large section of earth with people on it, the people can get off easily if they so desire. If they want to stay on, it will be difficult for them (DEX rolls, grabs, etc., GM deciding how bumpy the ride is). If the player has TK - requires Earth, then the ride can be easier (DEX checks etc. not required), and the TK player can attempt to carry others against their will (bowl or spherical shapes, shifting ground, earthen hands grab ankles, etc.).
  16. Re: Go home, Superman! As far as a game goes, let them call on the superguy if they want. I assume the characters don't normally want to do that - they want to be heroes in their own right, right? Superguy'll happily interrupt his current heroic activities and save their bacon, get the bad guy, etc. The players gain nothing for the adventure & maybe even lose 1cp. That ought to motivate them to help Superguy clean up the city instead of use him as a crutch.
  17. Re: How many points does a person have? Depends upon how many spoons you own.
  18. Re: Flying Carpet and skills? How about Flight, Variable Advantage? Costs more, but you could use it to carry people, be 0 END, give it No Turn Mode for kick-@ss aerobatics, Invisibility (hearing group) for silent flight, etc. Not your concept, but I like Flight with Variable SFX too. That could represent a magician capable of making different things fly. Ever ridden a flying coffee table? Villain shoots the rug out from under you, and you summon a kid's Red Rider from the ground beneath you as you plummet. I like the visual.
  19. Re: Do you think these are legitimate Power Builds My first thought was that the EB build was inaccurate because it left evidence. E.g. if the SFX is a handgun, there should be a bullet hole and bullet left behind. If it's a piano, ivory keys and wire litter the scene. If it's mental, none of that remains. Just an unblemished corpse (or maybe some petechial hemmoraging if the GM thinks the victim pops blood vessels or something).
  20. Re: My very first mutant Just tossin' it out there, you could add Turn-Mode to your running when in hero ID. It's not worth much but is a huge pain in play, so I'd add Activation to it (so it doesn't happen all the time), and call it a -0 Lim. If you want to role-play that. If you pass the Activation, say you push off walls or something cinematic like that to control your movement.
  21. Re: Request for help envisioning/modeling a power So, 75% of the time you get a power that you can vary a lot, at will. Ignore the "75%" thing and stat that out. If it's always an attack power, variable SFX and / or variable advantages might be what you want. If it can do lots of crazy stuff (not just attacks), a multipower or even VPP sound better. The 75% part could simply be to give whatever power you've developed the Activation limitation. At 12- Activation you get about 75%. Make the value of the limitation -0, and describe it as "GM gets to make it funny". That's assuming it will be somewhat useful, or the GM will be watching out for you so he doesn't kill you with the power.
  22. Re: Where's Seeker/Multiple identical weapons? You mean +5cp to have a duplicate weapon?
  23. Re: Megascale Move(damage) question If he hits with OCV -[infinity], then he achieves whatever effect he wants and the GM agrees to. And he's paste, goo, a smear / smudge, pancake, bug on a windshield. No resurrection, no regeneration (every cell has been atomized), game over, make a new character. If you've got to use Megascale movement as an attack, that's how desperate you've got to be.
  24. Re: i Can't Die! No matter How Much I want To! Not necessarily... I could see keeping this guy in my GM "hip pocket" so to speak, and handing him to a truly obnoxious player. GM - "No, really! This guy is awesome - no matter what, he can't die! You can't lose!" Obnoxious Player - "Cool! OK - I throw myself in front of the Disintegro-Ray!" GM - "Wow! OK, you've been burned to a crisp - no arms, no legs, no head, just a torso." OP - "But I'm not dead, right?" GM - "Right! Your superpower is now obvious for all to see!" OP - "That's what I'm talkin' about! OK, next I'm going to..." GM - "Wait - you can't move, since you are an overcooked french fry. If you had a head you'd be thinking Oh God! The pain!!! but luckily, your head was blown off." OP - "Uh, well how long until I heal?" GM - "I doubt you'll ever heal from that. Jumping in front of that plasma cannon was idiotic." OP - "What?!? This is stupid - forget this character, I'll make another." GM - "Sorry, house rule. You can't have two characters in the game. Same applies for everyone else, no special treatment." OP - "But Bill got a new character!" GM - "Yeah, but CaptainCoolMan died. That's allowed. Your guy is still alive. Why don't you try to roleplay being a charcoal? If you get enough xp you could develop Regeneration..."
  25. Re: i Can't Die! No matter How Much I want To! Nice, Hyper-Man! Just for fun, is it OK to Link to an Inherent Power?
