  1. Re: Resistance vs. Striking Appearance That's what I would do too. the only question is the value of the 'Only to Counteract Striking Appearance' limitation. -3/4 or -1/2 depending on the campaign.
  2. Re: Side effects of eating alien fauna and flora? here's a non-dangerous strange effect maybe from non-alien stuff http://www.hyam.net/blog/archives/60
  3. Re: What benefit does a Familiar grant a Mage type? What good are they? I looked up familiars on Wikipedia. According to the interwebs familiars were thought to be either a demon or fairy spirit guide or guardian who sometimes takes an animal form so they can pass unnoticed. These spirits would help the human with their magic. In this sense, Bob, Harry Dresden's skull bound intellect spirit is a good example of a familiar. Gamewise, I would say that a familiar could be the special effect of a research library for spells and for knowledge skills.

  5. Re: Throwing Distance for Super Heroic Characters
  6. Re: Throwing Distance for Super Heroic Characters There's an optional super throwing table, I think, in the Advanced Player's guide to address that kind of issue. In my games I dispense with the table and just say that your extra STR is your meters distance for a standing throw. A running throw is double that. A prone throw is half that.
  7. Re: Throwing Distance for Super Heroic Characters What you do is take your STR (75) then subtract the STR required to lift the item, in this case 5. Then lookup that value on the chart. So, you would look up 70 STR on the throwing chart for that seat.
  8. Re: Anyone using 1 pt per Dex in 6E? Well, at some point to you have to invoke 6E1 p. 9. But I can say that because I'm lucky to have the group I have.
  9. Re: Independent multi-targeting? There are a number of ways to do this. Multiple Attack is a combat manueuver that allows you to use the same attack against multiple targets in the same action. The other option is Autofire, which also allows you to attack multiple targets in the same action. The Iron Man example especially could be represented either way I think.
  10. Re: Anyone using 1 pt per Dex in 6E? Agility Skill Levels become the same as any other broad category 4 pts per +1 Lightning Reflexes is a little tricky I tried to recalculate the cost as best I could. I adjusted the DEX to +2, +3, +4, +5, +6 but honestly I would consider leaving lightning reflexes as it is, except perhaps for the all actions category.
  11. Re: Anyone using 1 pt per Dex in 6E? I have used 1 point per DEX from the start of 6E and it has worked just fine. I also adjusted the cost of Agility skill levels and and Lightning Reflexes.
  12. Re: The fine Elven Mithril/Mithral Shirt from the Lord of the Rings movie Sometimes I just can't help myself, but there is actual content in my post too.
  13. Re: The fine Elven Mithril/Mithral Shirt from the Lord of the Rings movie I would refuse to build anything from the alleged Lord of the Rings movie, but I would build the one from the books with Resistant PD 8 and Resistant ED 4 or more depending on your campaign power level, IIF because you can wear it under your clothes, and NOT real armor because it never seemed to get damaged or need repair or slow down the wearer.
  14. Re: realistic space flight Also Star Hero has some pretty extensive discussions of this kinda thing.
  15. Re: Too versatile! That is good advice. I think this is a very common problem in RPGs, I struggle with it too. I try to remember that the most interesting part of a character are his flaws and limitations and those are what lead to the game moments you will never forget. In a similar vein, I find that I can be overly cautious in-game. Trying to get all the information and form the perfect plan. Sometimes that is interesting and sometimes it's not.
