  1. Re: WWYCD: Foxbat The Mighty! Foxbat doesn't think he's in a comic book world, he thinks the world operates on the same laws & premises as the comic books he's spent all his life reading. And while it's true that the Champions Universe does operate similarly in many ways to Comic Book Worlds, it doesn't conform to all those tropes. But Foxbat, super-fanboy that he is, thinks it does. Basically, take Comic Con, take all the uber-geeks (the kind who thinks Comics are Real, and that they really are Jedis/Ninjas/etc.) out of it, and distill them into one uber-uber-geek. That's Foxbat.
  2. Re: Doktoberfest! Awesome, awesome design.
  3. Re: Ben 10: Alien Force But... Kevin's original power wasn't mater/energy absorption, it was just energy absorption.
  4. Re: Ben 10: Alien Force Looks like the Forever Knights got a change, too. Or at least an odd shift. Also, is this show coming on early for anyone else? For me, it's been starting about 3 or 4 minutes before he scheduled time for the past several weeks.

  6. Re: Looking for two (horribly abusive) builds Do you have a link/stat sheet for that guy?
  7. Re: Looking for two (horribly abusive) builds So no one's got any idea on the Ring-Man?
  8. Re: Heroes from All Fifty States For North Carolina, I submit the following ideas: The Blue Devil -- Nightcrawler-like basketball-playing doctor. Blackbeard -- because pirates are popular. Kittyhawk -- a flyer, perhaps a "tomboy". Roanoke -- mysteeeerious sorcerer-type, with a Griffin familiar named Andy. Tarheel -- some sort of "Alternate Form/Tar" power. Wolfpack -- a Lumbee who can generate/summon "ghost wolves" for combat and tracking. Egyptoid's idea for a military-type works well for NC, since we've got Ft. Bragg, the Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces.
  9. Re: D&D 4th Anyone have any idea why the lamia was so radically changed? In all prior editions, lamias (lamiae? lamiai?) were centaur-esque lion-women whose touch drained Wisdom and had a few innate magical abilities (mostly illusionary). They were wholly chaotic and evil, living mostly in deserts and eating any hapless folk who got too near. In 4E, lamias are swarms of insects that devour people -- especially eladrin ("high elves") -- from the inside out and use their skin to disguise themselves as the devoured. They favor eladrin because (I believe) they can only reproduce inside one.

  11. Re: Wait - you punch WHAT?!? (or what would the damage from an atomic bomb be?)
  12. Re: Wait - you punch WHAT?!? (or what would the damage from an atomic bomb be?) The Leader might disagree. As would Maestro (well, sorta; he did get better, eventually). And I think the people of Japan might disagree. And I would, too, in part because I've only seen one other use of a nuke-like weapon in comics (against Supes in the DKR sequel, and Supes survived because, well, he's frakin' Superman, though IIRC it did put a serious hurt on him), and in part possibly because I'm not exactly understanding what you're saying, and even in part because I don't know as much about nukes and other WMDs as I might like to think. Based on what I do know (of both nukes and the HERO System game), the stats for a nuke explosion in the Equipment Guide seemed perfectly fine. I mean, for starters, how many supers comics (or other fiction/genre) characters have survived a hit from a nuke, even if just barely? What percentage of real world people who were caught in a nuke blast survived (even if just barely)? What do you think the stats for a nuke should be, and why?
  13. Re: Looking for two (horribly abusive) builds That's it! Thanks! Now, anyone know of the Abusive Ring-Man?
  14. Many moons ago, I saw two horribly abusive builds here on this board (I know at least one was intentionally abusive, not sure about the other). I was recently reminded of them, and wanted to find them, but the Search function's not been very helpful. Assistance is required. First was a build for a guy with a large number of Independent magic rings, which, among other things, allowed the wearer to summon fanatically-loyal critters who were equipped with powerful Independent devices (which they then gave to the summoner). Second is the "Lazy Mentalist Assassin," the mentalist who could snipe at anyone on the planet and kill nearly anyone given a few rounds, while calmly relaxing on a beach sipping pina coladas. Either of these ring a bell?
  15. Re: Most interesting character ideas you've seen from others? Two stand out from the short-lived M&M campaign I ran. Atominx was "born" when her mother was burned away by the bomb dropped on Nagasaki, and raised by Americans ("traded" to them as part of Japan's surrender). Stopped physically aging at 16, and at times it seemed her mentality was stuck there, too. Didn't do blasts of radiation, but could make a damage shield, which she combined with some basic martial arts; she could also go intangible. Minimum Force was a carnie who, on a bet from some of his fellow carnies, took the container that held the comb in the barbershop they were in and drank the blue fluid the combs soak in to disinfect them/kill any bugs (they told him it was alcohol). Amazingly, rather than make him horrendously ill, it activated his dormant mutant genes, unlocking his power to shrink and to harness the excess energy from his shrinking for kinetic blasts, flight, and force field.
  16. Re: How would Stronghold imprison your character?
  17. Re: WWYC Team Up With? Minor nitpick, Mandarin isn't a supernatural threat. His Ten Rings are of alien origin. (Though there was that one time he used a magical artifact to nullify all tech in China....)
  18. Re: Dr Hank Pym (Marvel) By the way, what're the stats for Rover?
  19. Re: How would Stronghold imprison your character?
  20. Re: How would Stronghold imprison your character? Dead Head would require some way to sever his mystical/telepathic bond to the dead, and some medium-DEF walls. Doktor Archeville would need to be put into Hot Sleep, or whatever it is they would use for Dr. Destroyer. At least, that's what he thinks. Really, just put him in a regular cell, and make sure he has access to nothing more complicated than a spring-click pen, and he'd be little problem. Scion ('son' of Namor the Sub-Marine and Sue Storm-Richards) would just require some high DEF walls, and maybe some heat lamps.
  21. Re: Unique, interesting powers I've an idea for (what I think is) a nifty power, though am stuck on how to stat it out (I know it'd be some sort of Transform). Guy has some container, which must be fully sealable (not necessarily air- or water-tight, but enough that you cannot see what's in it when closed). He concentrates a moment (i.e., uses his power), opens it, and whatever had been in there is now in there again. If he had an empty discarded pizza box, his power would recreate the pizza in it, fresh and warm as the day it was delivered. Pick up an empty gun, use his power, it's reloaded with whatever rounds had last been in it. Touch a car with an empty fuel tank, use his power, the fuel tank's filled with whatever substance has last been in it (hopefully not sugar!). Pick up an empty wallet, use his power, it's now filled with whatever had last been in it. One twist for this power: the guy's not actually re-creating things, he's reaching back in time and pulling them to him. Which can cause lots and lots and lots of problems.
