  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings And you know this how?
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings But not as much as the people I'm currently on a con call with. I can't believe I'm participating in a discussion over where the powerpoint titles will go.
  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings You know, Barney doesn't bother me, but BJ needs some serious slapping around.
  5. Re: Musings on Random Musings Yeah, cold weather really sucks. Last week I took my kid to the beach and we were only in the water for less than half an hour before he started to shiver. It didn't help that a cloud would occasionally cover up the sun.
  6. Re: FH Gripes And yet only Hero is capable of handling such a wide range of power levels so smoothly. 40 STR would be appropriate for a high-magic or mythic scale game.
  7. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Is that really a crossover? I watch a lot of Sesame Street nowadays, and it seems to me that they already radiate madness.
  8. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER But-- but-- think of the dome lights!

  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings That reminds me of the time I showed up for my databases final and no one was there. I spent half an hour running around trying to find out what room they'd moved the final to before I finally realized I'd shown up an hour early. Haaaaaa. (slaps forehead)
  13. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER No no, you're supposed to replace the fuse with a live .22 caliber bullet.
  14. Re: Creature: Khysothemis Nice!
  15. Re: Exoplanet detection news That could be anything. It could be that K stars emit too weakly and so the oversized planets are able to hoover up more volatiles during accretion. Or tidal forces could be to blame. Or it could be some kind of statistical or spectroscopic error in the measurements that just exaggerates the perceived Doppler effect on K stars.
  16. Re: The cranky thread I'm tired of being blamed for things I obviously wasn't responsible for. It's as though she has this reflexive need to instantly scapegoat the nearest person when something goes wrong.
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Did you get lucky in the back of the U-Haul while the bed was there? No, don't answer that.
  18. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread We now have more disk storage sitting on that desk over there than most people can even conceive of. Last night we created a single 15 terabyte file, and we can pull 18 hard drives out of the machine without losing a single bit.
  19. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Still in the process of reading this one... http://www.lfgcomic.com/page/1
  20. Re: The cranky thread FH is the redheaded stepchild of Hero. It's the best system for the genre, but in 4th ed. it got hamstrung by the 'universal system' fad that screwed up the game balance and added 'embellishments' like spell colleges. And supportwise, FH was virtually ignored compared to Champions. DOJ has improved on this issue greatly but there is always room for improvement.
  21. Re: Mars has water! Like I said, large-scale terraforming of Mars would take not just generations, but many millennia. However, your initial statement was that orbital colonies would be more sustainable/less expensive, which is no longer the case now that large quantities of water have been found on Mars.
  22. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Because there is a difference between Pacific Daylight Time and Pacific Standard Time. When I become emperor, Daylight Savings Time will be banned, and anyone who speaks in its defense will be put up against the wall and shot.
  23. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER "Iceberg, right ahead."
