Did a bit more testing on DriveThru RPG... even internal searchers there don't pick it up well unless you actively type in "Golden Age Champions", since there's no reviews posted at all (Anyone who knows anyone who bought a copy there, PLEASE get them to post something). "Golden Age" brings up the M&M product and a bunch of other stuff. "Champions" lists "Darren Watts' Golden Age Champions" way down the list (possibly because of no reviews, possibly because of alphabet sorting, possibly because the keyword is later in the title than a lot of other HERO products).

If you could get those particular searches to bring up the product higher in the list, it may help a bit, Darren. I don't know if the site owners can adjust things for default searches within a company's products, but it might be worth asking.

From a conversation last night with a non-gamer friend who is super-outdoorsy. Gaming came up somehow...

Me: "I know it's geeky as hell, but I do enjoy it."
She: "Aren't all hobbies a little geeky tho? I mean what do I really get out of my hiking obsession?"
Me: "Besides good exercise, being really healthy, looking great, getting lots of fresh air, connecting with nature..."
    She: "Well...yeah."
Me: "I mean I appreciate what you're trying to do. But not all hobbies are equally geeky; I'm cool with that"
    She: "OK, fair enough."

Breaking down the current Justice League

Superman - Actor  looked good with glasses as Clark Kent, and was based on previous performances has experience playing a zombie.

Batman - DC went for a trouble talented actor, but picked the wrong one (Didn't anyone watch Daredevil?)

Wonder Woman - The only good thing in the movie, and not given enough to do.

    Cyborg - Discount Iron Man

Aquaman - Discount Thor, with an actor chosen because he was on a show with the word Atlantis in it (And Patrick Duffy was too old).

Flash - Chris Kattan character from a SNL skit.

Trying to make a TV pilot with Dominic Fortune is a bad an idea as having Steppenwolf as the main villain in The Justice League movie.

I think the best comic book villain on television by a wide margin is Aubrey Plaza as the Shadow King on Legion. Which also gets my vote for best comic book show, although it's almost nothing like the source material.

I would disagree with no marvel show has had a good villain. I thought D'onofrio's Kingpin/Fisk was excellent, and Tennant's Purple Man was scary evil.

Last night's Historical/Fantasy Hero game. The Heroes are trying to find a way through a partially-collapsed building. So they turn to the Priest, whose VPP is primarily modeled after recorded Biblical miracles:

Alchemist: "Wasn't there anyone in the Bible who walked through walls or moved a bunch of rocks or anything?"
Priest: "Well, I can think of one example. But it'd take three days and we'd have to die first."
Alchemist: "...OK, but aside from That Guy...?"

TLJ was decent.  Acting and dialogue were strong (for a Star Wars movie) and the shots were amazing.  I really liked how badly the trailer 'lied' - it didn't tell the story at all.  I think that's part of the backlash, though - people made their own movie based upon what they'd seen and the real thing didn't match it.

Bright was decent as well - too much swearing, but it comes with the genre.  I didn't really have questions going in but have a ton coming out.   I'm still undecided if that's a sign of good setup or poor payoff.  Time will tell.

We've been watching this too. I'm not really a murder mystery guy, but the clever writing and charming acting make it worthwhile. I think the next Pulp character I play is going to be a Miss Fisher homage.

It's not just the media. 4 airlines control 83% of air travel in the US. 3 rental car companies control 90% of car rentals. 2 brewery companies produce 70% of our beer. Etc. The US government has largely given up even pretending to enforce antitrust laws. John Oliver recently did a bit on it recently:

Well, while I agree with the Fantastic Four, I've always had a problem with reconciling the X-Men as presented in the comics, with the rest of the Marvel Universe. Mutants have for a very long time been used to explore themes of racism and minority persecution; themes which have been carried over into the X-Men movies. Yet in the comics non-mutant superheroes are portrayed as being much more accepted by the general populace, a very awkward coexistence that's difficult to justify logically. To date the X-Men movies have avoided that issue altogether by making "mutant" the only origin for super-powered beings. While the MCU now has superhumans firmly established in the public consciousness, but without mutants. (The Inhumans looked to be their attempt to bring something comparable to the television side of the franchise, but that doesn't seem to be going anywhere for the foreseeable future.)

Of course the possibility exists for a reboot for both settings, merging them together; but at this point both franchises are so well-known and popular, doing so would risk alienating fans invested in them. As I've said previously, the easiest course would probably be to keep the X-Men continuity separate from the MCU in an alternate universe. Inter-universe crossovers have a long tradition in comic books and media based on them. That way Disney would literally get the best of both worlds.

...I honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not? You just described the top five things that ruin a movie for me. Those aren't exactly minor technical points; they're the minimum qualifications for Not Shitty.

As for reviews, I only listen to the handful of reviewers whose opinions I trust. It's harder now that Roger Ebert has left us - whether or not *he* liked a movie, I could almost always tell if *I* was going to like it from his reviews.

"Mad Idolatry" was officially the most Star Trek thing I've seen since TNG went off the air. Well done. I also got a genuine belly-laugh out of the opening with lonely-Ed trying to find someone to drink with. I'm glad I stuck with this show.
