I am interested! Probably like any experiment, a lot of opportunities for fine tuning will arise in play. I am totally up for it! -
Recommendations for a Play by Post Hero System Game?
Kaze9999 replied to Kaze9999's topic in Player Finder
Yes I’m maxed out and playing catch-up with players applications! It’s my hope to develop a community on the site with many more hero System games, that i get to play in too! -
Recommendations for a Play by Post Hero System Game?
Kaze9999 replied to Kaze9999's topic in Player Finder
FYI I have committed to rpg crossings; I love the community and have accepted the challenge of trying to develop and support a Hero System 6e presence on the site! Thank you for bringing it to my attention! -
Now I’m wondering, are there ANY Hero System sixth edition games playing out on YouTube? Ongoing committed games as opposed to quick one shots? I’m personally running games for new learners on a big rpg play by post forum and get a decent trickle of people who heard of the game and want to try it out. I end up making their characters with their input throughout the process and let them learn through playing. To be honest I don’t own Champions complete, just the two big volumes of Hero System, and some players have expressed some frustration with the smaller selection of options and the examples they seem to have in the “Complete “ books. Also it would be SO helpful if we could get a mobile app version and or browser based version of Hero Designer.

Never mind. I reinstalled, and everything is working fine.

I upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It's got the full installation of Java on it, and that's the only change that I am aware of, but now hero Designer gets to the "Loading Plug Ins" and just doesn't get any further even when I let it run for over an hour...so is it an issue with Windows 10?

I am really interested in seeing your character sheet! And proactively wishing for a Google sheets template!

Looking for HERO 6e in Ft. Lewis / Tacoma / Lakewood / Lacey

If you’re open to online play by post I’m running a 6e Hero System Monster Hunter game that is always open to new players, and is largely for the purpose of building a community of people who know Hero System, so they can run games on the site that I can play in too! -
That is a template I would like to get!

Recommendations for a Play by Post Hero System Game?

I will check them out! Thanks! -
Agree. The diminished returns on disadvantages, the endurance reduction as half each time you buy it, various other aspects of 3rd seems hard to make a herodesigner template or mod to cover.
-
Is there a version of Here Designer that can do 3rd generation, character designs? Is there any other software beyond spread sheets for it?

Re-entering the hardbound, store-centric model
Kaze9999 replied to dsatow's topic in HERO Games Product Line
I do find it interesting that 3rd edition seems to be in something of a minor revival, and that was the last version of Hero to have dedicated genre rules with distinct variation before the"Universal rpg system" approach took hold. -
Does anyone have recommendations for the best forums to find/start a play by post, Hero System game? Considerations would be, a Hero System playing community, any special features like limited visibility posting (I miss this so much from Hero Central), access? Personally, I find games on real-time chat type sites like roll20 too time-consuming in a single block of time for me to commit.

Oh yes, that would be very nice! -
Welcome! I loved the novels and the rule book and all the extra PDF's (scenarios, monsters, etc) that came with it! The MHI rule book is awesome in that it has fluff to get your through, specifically it has some pages of original fiction from the author of the novels in some places and even in the charts and racial descriptions the prose shows obvious collaboration between the author of the novels and the author of the game system. The note, for example, on the PUFF Chart that shows how much you get paid for the bodies of the monsters you have slain where it mentions that gnomes and orcs are worth the same and both races are aware and annoyed at this... The flexibility of the system invites experimentation too. One thing I worked on but never got around to running was a Monster Hunter campaign set in the Roman Republic, with the player characters all employed by a reclusive, rich patron who was actually a vampire providing a paid service to the other rich families and eliminating competition. I was calling it, Monster Hunter Imperium. The elves were basically the Celts. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/monster-hunter-imperium/categories I really don't know how well the license worked out commercially for Hero Games (the Kickstarter was the highest funded one they've ever had, but they sure do have a lot of the MHI books left in their warehouse), but it has been my dearest wish ever since that Steve Long and Larry Larry Correia would collaborate again to do a licensed Hero Book for Grimnoir Chronicles. Seriously, Steve Long is a huge Pulp era fan, it would be great!!!
