  1. Re: Possible HERO System Supplement Kickstarters From Steve -- What Interests You? Of the ideas, cyberHERO is the most appealing to me.
  2. Re: Setting, really: Corporate Champions? What do PCs do? Please say “fight super crime” and not “sit in a boardroom and make decisions on how super humans are to be dispatched (“advertise kool-aid is also unacceptable, unless you get to break down walls and yell “Oh Yeah!”). It sounds like you have to pay to be a superhero, what with the property destruction. Clearly non-damaging heros (like telepaths) don’t have to sign up, unless you intend for there to be lots of legal fees. Why do mutants become superheroes? What motivates them? It cant’ be money, because it costs to be a hero, it can’t be doing what the system cant’ do (e.g. vigilante style), since they are still part of the system. What is the advantage to working for a corporation rather than say, the government? How exactly does super-law work?
  3. Re: Harpoon and Tow Cable from The Empire Strikes Back I'd use TK, and have them trip the walker
  4. Re: Draining/Aiding SPD and play balance I'm in fireg0lem's group and we also increased the active points of aid to 8 per die.
  5. Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic HERO RE: The Stare I actually think it's just +60 PRE (or more), Only for PRE attacks. I'm sure she could use it on the cutie mark crusaders if she wanted to. It may have "No Concious Control" as she claims she cannot control it, but it is always used when needed, so I would not build it this way. In order of least to most points, my guess is: Rarity < Rainbow Dash, Apple Jack, Fluttershy < Twilight Sparkle < Pinkie Pie
  6. Re: GM question I think it's totally fine, so long as he doesn't plan on sitting inside objects, attacking out, and claiming DEF from the object. IDK what happend with indirect tunneling, but I'll assume it was a bad experience.
  7. Re: Hmmm. More on Special Effects I see this as a metagame question. Would you rather it be easier for people to be detected, or remain undetected? Your proposal could lead to characters who cannot be detected by unusual sense groups (either with shapeshift or Invisibility). While a character who is being attacked still knows they are beign attacked (with some exceptions), it does increase the ease of being undetected. I personally think this is a bad thing, because I’d rather people be able to detect each other than not.
  8. Re: Affect Physical World (and advantage) for HA+STR Advantages are mandatory (6E1 316) so you advantage the str needed for APW when not desolid. A naked power advantage does not need to be used with a power, so if the ranged is a NPA you do not need to use it (i.e. 5 str for 1DC in melee and 7.5 at range). Is this 6th edition? Because HtH is only -1/4
  9. Re: Bows What kind of adventuring do you have in mind? A world which is relatively "safe" with areas of high danger would mean that standard/recurve bows are adequate (you know when you should string your bow), vs. a world where the average countryside is dangerous might lead to more development of decurve bows. Identify what use you think each bow should use. Also compare them to other ranged weapons in your setting.
  10. Re: Adjusting DCV Have him buy extra DCV "only while aided". In fact, I might suggest he go ahead and buy all of the characteristics/powers with OIAD, with the alternate identity being his time-boosed self.
  11. Re: Cybernetics and Bioengineering: what are YOUR limits?
  12. Re: I still don't understand why Linked is always a limitation It's because you lose the choice of using them seperately. You can always use a Blast + Flash, but it's a limitation to be forced to use both together.
  13. Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic HERO Also, I'm not convinced Earth Ponies are any stronger or tougher than their Unicorn and Pegasus counterparts. Pinkie Pie demonstrates many powers (teleportation, stretching, precognition, super speed, building a gyrocopter out of candy) but better physical stats don’t seem to be among them. I think Earth Ponies are the standard.
  14. Re: Cybernetics and Bioengineering: what are YOUR limits? We can’t even prove other humans have human-level thought, only that they appear to. Any sufficiently complex algorithm will appear to be sapient from outside the black box, just like a person. I’m for any amount of improvement, so long as it is an improvement and I can afford it.
  15. Re: Dr. Manhattan on 350 Points You forgot Physical Limitation: Cannot change the future and must preform predestined actions
  16. Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic HERO I would have Power Skill: Clouds for 3 points. Occasionally Rainbow Dash will use it to clean someone, make them wet, scare people, etc. It seems like a generic enough ability to be a Power Skill. Also, I'd have your package include 3 points worth of skills related to their cutie-mark
  17. Re: Breakable vs. unbreakable Focus Yes, unbreakable foci are just better than breakable ones and cost the same. This is a problem but a very minor one. Usually the GM can handle it by either not allowing it, increasing the amount of time the focus is taken away or neutrilized, or making unbreakable an advantage.
  18. Re: Mages & Psychics and Alternate Combat Value uses Can't use block with OMCV
  19. Re: many wolves > one chimaera O.o Ok, looking at the monsters, I'd say the chimera needs about +4 speed, +10 dex, +3 DCs, and 50% DR. That's a guess since I have no idea what the PCs are like in terms of defenses and damage. I'd also move the breath to an AOE cone to let it threaten multiple PCs.
  20. Re: Enchant I could also build it as Drain vs. DEF, only up to half (-1)
  21. Re: The Rule of F(X) I don't know how the enemies were built. I was a player. I suspect they had 3 speed and net 0 or -2 picks, but I'm not sure.
  22. Re: The Rule of F(X) I've played in games with the rule of F(X) and while I do not speak for Fireg0lem, I can speak of my own experiences. ?I do think that Fireg0lem should post the whole house rules and not just the F(X) in partiality, since
  23. Re: many wolves > one chimaera O.o Post copies of characters and enemies? I am not familiar with either.
  24. Re: Ability Guidelines for Cosmically Powerful Characters (6e) Herocentral.net has some pbps, and I'll try and get around to posting up some chars sometime this weekend. Edit: Active points can be a really terrible way to gauge characters. Some advantages are not DC increasing (e.g. 0 END), and that will skew your findings. Stick to evaluating Damage Classes. For defenses, i suggest total DEF rather than resistant (most fights end with people unconcious rather than dead). 1 DC of damage negation is ~ 3 points of DEF (3.5 stun, but is worse at preventing body damage). Damage negation is either over or under priced AP wise depedning on the DC/DEF and point totals of your game. In 600pt characters, 50% DR is really good, in 100pt Characters it's a worse buy.
  25. Re: Ability Guidelines for Cosmically Powerful Characters (6e) In HERO there are no official guidelines for power levels (other than ones set by the GM). Points are only a general idea of how powerful a character is, to get a good measurement you must look at the character sheet as a whole, including: Speed, DCs, CVs, Defenses, and to a lesser extent powers, frameworks and characteristics. I've played 700-800 point 5th edition characters before. My group also has some balancing guidelines for high powered (500+) characters. It seems like from your post, you'd like us to post 2 characters and explain how to look at them and compare their effectiveness. Is this correct?
