1. Re: Examples of low-powered/street level supers not from comics The trouble with Viper (and a similar show called Super Force) is that it takes place in the future. And as for Airwolf, does anybody really think that Devin could convince Stringfellow Hawke to fly for him without Archangel having a say in the matter? When I was messing with the idea of a "League of Extraordinary Vehicles" type game, I noticed that KITT, Blue Thunder (both movie and TV series), and Street Hawk have two things in common; 1) All three were operated by former (Michael Knight) or current (Frank Murphy and Jesse Mach) police officers. and 2) All three were members of the LAPD. So a secret, high-end crime unit within the LAPD came to mind but I could not come up with a reason as to how this would work so FLAG was the next best thing as an umbrella organization with the Blue Thunder unit acting as an assosiate partner.
2. Re: Examples of low-powered/street level supers not from comics I have been toying with this idea for Origins this year. Tenitively titled "Screen Machines". Devin Miles, the head of an advanced private security organization known as the Foundation for Law And Government (FLAG), has begun to expand its operations to include other "special assets" operating around the country. This already includes FLAG's own special operative Michael Knight, a man whose identity has yet to be verified because he does not exist in any database anywhere in the world. His skills suggest an intelligence background or possibly law enforcement. Knight's special asset, an advanced automoble called the Knight Industries Three Thousand. KITT, as it is known, displays superior speed, manuveuring, and durability to anything the road today, KITT also has access to any database Knight might need to solve a case. Rumour has it that KITT may be artificially intelligent; capable of "thinking" and acting on its own. Devin has also contracted a former Navy SEAL named Randall Spencer and his partner Malcolm Brubaker to build what amounts to a sea-going KITT. Six months ago, they unveiled the "Jolly Roger", a much superior version of Spencer's prototype "Thunder" attack powerboat. The Jolly Rodger has been seen attacking drug boats and gunrunners and any other waterborne threat within Los Angeles and its surrounding harbours. Devin looked next towards building an aerial element, but Knight Industries lacked the aerospace resources needed to build the type of aircraft Devin envisioned. So he looked to aquire one already in use. One was already availible but it came with a lot of baggege. This special asset belonged to the LAPD's Astro Division helicopter support unit. Known as Police Special Two. It is known to the general public as "Blue Thunder". The Blue Thunder unit had been controversial almost from the start. Originally to be deployed as a crowd control unit during the 1994 World Cup, it was stolen by an Astro Division pilot named Frank Murphy, a Persian Gulf War veteran with a history of psychiatric problems. Attempts to shoot down Murphy and the stolen prototype helicopter resulted in great damage and injury to the city. All efforts were halted when an assosiate of Murphy's delivered a video tape to KBLA-TV showing a meeting of cops and feds betraying the real reason Blue Thunder was built; Shot with Blue Thunder's own equipment. Little has been revealed since Murphy destroyed the prototype. However, a second Blue Thunder was built thirteen years later for reasons yet known. However, this unit has more checks and balances with how it is deployed than the previous model complete with a ground support unit called "Rolling Thunder". Controversy still dogs the new unit as civil rights groups objecting to another armed police helicopter in their city and advocates for the victims of the first Blue Thunder fiasco still demanding satisfaction from the city continue to attempt to shut down the unit for good. Adding fuel to the fire is the appointment of Frank Murphy as its commander. Devin made a deal with Captain Murphy and his Federal superiors that he would be allowed the use of Blue Thunder and its support staff until another vehicle could either be built or aquired. However FLAG would only be allowed its use within the units operational jurisdiction. PLAYER CHARACTERS KNIGHT RIDER Michael Knight (Original 1980's character with current(but stripped down) KITT). THUNDER IN PARADISE Randall Spencer ( Jolly Rodger Pilot). Malcolm Brubacker ( Jolly Roger Co-Pilot and gunner). A new character will be added as the boat's ECW officer. Thunder will be totally replaced by the Jolly Rodger and like KITT, this will have more realistic equipment. BLUE THUNDER Officer Tom Carpenter (Pilot). Officer Samantha Miller (Observer). Officer Richard "Ski" Butowski (Rolling Thunder Support). Officer Lyman "Bubba" Kelsey (Rolling Thunder Support). Officers Carpenter and Miller are original characters. Ski and Bubba are from the Blue Thunder TV series. Two possible senarios 1) THE PAUL REVERE DILEMMA. FLAG is asked to protect a wikileaks-type mogul from both a vicious orginization and a mysterious vigilante known as the Street Hawk. 2) BLACK F.L.A.G. A man from Devin's past has created an evil version FLAG and is terrorising the city. Let me know what you think.
3. Re: Welcome to McGuffins. May I take your order? I have a character who truly does own the sword Excallibur and Morgan le Fey has already gone after it once. Her name is (what else!) Excallibur. Until she found it, she thought that all the Aurthurian Legends were just that, legends despite the fact that her expertise was medieval history and archeology. She is a member of the British Avengers and is modeled after Thor.
4. Re: List Your CO Heroes! My revised list of Champions Black Fury: 10th lvl Munitions/Speedster. Destroyerman: 18th lvl Power Armour and the 1st 5th ed character used. Whiteraven: 16th lvl Egoist and the 2nd 5th ed character. They were joined by... Stormfalcon: 13th lvl Energy Blaster using powers that resembled weather related phenomena. Prismahawk: 9th lvl Energy Blaster with a mix of everything and 3rd 5th ed character used. Armoured Saint: 8th lvl Celestial. Cobalt Blue: 9th lvl Energy/Dark Magic Dr. Frost was deleted because he was getting frustrating to play. He was an Ice energy blaster with the look of a pulp fiction hero. BTW How do you do a screenshot?
5. Re: Campaign I dea; Tangent Champions The Starjammers. Humans who have been taken at the point of death through the ages by the Shaper of Worlds, an all-powerful entity, and slowly genetically manipulated in order to stop an impending invasion of Earth. Only six of thousands are ready to fight them off in order to gain time for the others to be "activated". Scorpion: A priestess from ancient Egypt mummified alive. She can morph her body to resemble scorpion-like traits Scarlet Witch: A Dark Ages Scotswoman accused of being a witch and burned at the stake. She controls the four ancient elements of earth, wind, fire, and water. Havok: A Viking warrior who was thrown overboard during a fierce storm. He has super-strength and a big axe. White Tiger: A Samurai from feudal Japan killed by his own clan. He has hyper-enhanced agility to add to his formidable martial arts skills as well as an adamantium-like katana. Prowler: A Colonial American militiaman killed by Redcoats in a most dishonourable fashion. He has enhanced speed and stealth as well as hyper senses and can cling to walls. Windshear: A French WWI pilot unable to escape his burning airplane. He is his own fighter plane with with flight and massive energy firepower.
6. Re: Villain Theme Teams Since some have used animal themes, I have the Sharkmen. Black Tip and White Tip: Twin Atlantean siblings and political exiles with sonic abilities. 8. Re: A Playable Black Bolt These have been most helpful. Thank you all.
9. I have been interested in the Inhumans off and on for decades. I have been reading the "War of Kings" mini-series and the recent "Realm of Kings: Inhumans" mini-series and I thought Black Bolt would be fun to play. I have an oppertunity to create a Black Bolt-like character for a 6ed game. My MP would be called "whisper to a scream". The trouble is, Black Bolt's whispering of a single syllable loosened Attilan from its mountain foundation in a Fantastic Four issue I own. How do I turn this powerful character into something playable in the 350-400 point range?
10. Re: List Your CO Heroes! My user name is Ironklad ( for some reason I couldn't put Werehawk in ) CHARCTERS Black Fury--Munitions Dr.Frost -- Ice and dressed like the Sandman. Destroyerman -- Power Armour and first attempt to use a 5th ed character of mine. Whiteraven --Psionic mix and second 5th ed character.
11. Re: Superhero Images Sorry I haven't responded in a while but I'm preparing events for GenCon. The skin color is right but is more of a midnight blue hue. Her hair is white as is her cape. Her outfit is black with silver braclets and shin guards and a old gold belt. From her sholders to her chest and along the sides of her legs is what's meant to look like Garnet crystal. The "Heart of the World" in the background is a lot better than what I had in mind which was more like large lava lamp-type effect against glacial ice. I see you haven't lost your touch.
12. Re: CROSS: Agents Of The Vatican Project I have a similar group in my world called the Vigil. Basically, it is Van Helsing's handlers brought to the modern world. They are headquarterd in the Vatican and are led by Cardinal Bertarelli. Their primary enemies are are those who deal in magic (especially Black Magic) and are equipted in much the same fashion as UNTIL. The Vigil's most implacable foe over the centuries has been the Collier Family in the U.S.. That is until daughter Samantha decided attone for her family's misdeads and became Demonangel and changed sides. Bertarelli himself has lifted the the Vigil's long standing shoot-to-kill orders on Samantha just to see how this plays out. Mysterion is a former member of the Vigil who uses magic in order to fight sorcerors and the like much against the Vigil's mandate to eliminate it. He is a wanted man to them.

TV to rpg

Re: TV to rpg "5-4-3-2-1. Thunderbirds are GO!" A deadly disaster. Hundreds if not thousands of people facing certain death. The emergancy services helpless to render assistance if they can at all. Then, when all seems lost, a small fleet of advanced vehicles and equipment with highly trained and dedicated crews proceed to do the impossible; perform a daring rescue against all possible odds and save the lives of everyone before dissappearing as mysteriously as they had arrived. How can you not go wrong with this set-up?
14. Re: Superhero Images This is Angelshark. She is a member of Force Aquarius. She,along with Lamprey, were members of the Aquaficer's strike team called the Sharkmen when they were captured by Force Aquarius. Both joined up after an attempt to kill them by their former boss was thwarted by the supersub's personnel. Angelshark has the unusual ability to run on the ocean floor far faster than anyone can swim and can tunnel into it to evade capture or predators. She also possesses vast Ego powers which compliment her spy skills. Since she was in the employ of an enemy force, she is watched very closely by the crew.
15. Re: Superhero Images I'm Baaaaack! I have a new Computer with all the goodies and I am now filling my portfolio file with new heros to post on this thread. First up; THE COUNTESS. Countess is the Princes Mellora of the ice planet Krystaalan. The Force of Nine journeyed to her planet in hopes of joining the Allied Worlds League. When a kidnapping attempt was foiled by the Force, her father told her the location of the "Heart of the World", the planet's "Lifeforce",so she could gain its power to defend herself. Once bonded to the Heart, she became a powerful being and helped the Force foil a much bigger plot. She joined the Force after another adventure. She is essentially a checklist heroine.
16. Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for 2008 I suggested him on the first page along with Dr Simon Quist (Doomwatch). Quatermass would handle the space sciences while Quist would take the planetary ones.
17. Re: Ringers (prompted by the Black Widow thread on Dark Champions) Thanks, I also have a Heros of Lallor ringer called the Archon's Hand. They are the personal troubleshooters for their planet's ruling archon. Roster. Aerofoil: Able to create and manipulate various gases, can become intangible, and has limited weather control (Gas Girl). Lifer: Can animate, mold, and reshape inorganic matter into any object (Life Lass). Shaper: Lifer's brother. He is a metemorph who can change his shape into animals native to his world (Beast Boy). Evolver: Can evolve and devolve living creatures at range as well as himself (Evolvo Lad). Copyier: Can duplicate any any para-normals powers provided they're within a certain range and can not keep them afterwards (Duplicate Boy). Unlike the more pacifistic Heros of Lallor,The Archon's Hand is a nasty Black Ops unit answerable only to its world's Archon.
18. Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for 2008 If you're going to use Number 6 in the "M" role, may I suggest replaceing James Bond in the Quartermain role with David Callan (there is speculation that David Callan and Robert McCall may be the same person beyond the fact that they are played by the same actor(Edward Woodward)). Both are paticularly nasty individuals and both could be using new identities for their own agendas.
19. Re: Ringers (prompted by the Black Widow thread on Dark Champions) Two years ago at GenCon ,I introduced a group heros in my Force of Nine games called the Shadowers. Their powersets were based on the Legion of Substitute Heros and shared their original intent of the group which was to watch the Legion in case they were in need of help. However, this team is far from the bunglers the Subs became and each member is much more lethal than the ones they were based on. Their operations are done covertly and within the frontiers of Allied Worlds League space. Roster Bad Seed: A plant controller seeking redemption (Chloryfill Kid). Blackmoon: An alien woman whose strength changes with the phases of the moon and multiplies with the number of moons on any planet (Night Girl). Contagion: An alien "Lifeguard" (a 31st century Red Cross) who can heal as well as harm by manipulating biological agents at range (Infectious Lass). Firestarter: The team's leader and firebreather. He is an earth explorer who had been missing for years and is now the caretaker of the planet that is their base (Fire Lad). Fleshette: An alien farmgirl kidnapped by the Icorians and turned into a living weapon that can fire adamantium quills and has a thurst for revenge (Porcupine Pete). Icebreaker: A mutant human boy who must wear a regulatory suit in order to control his plummeting body temperature as well as use his ice powers safely (Polar Boy). Minder: A alien girl whose was blinded by her people who mistook her emerging psionic abilities for witchcraft. She seeks justice (Antennae Boy). Obelisk: A stone-like alien and bodyguard who is Firestarter's second-in-command (Stone Boy). Spectragirl: A lonely human girl who is symbiotically attached to an energy being and wields various energy powers (Color Kid). This group will be used at GenCon in their own events this August.
20. Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for 2008 Professor Bernard Quatermass and Dr. Simon Quist (Doomwatch) as your science leads.
21. Re: Synonyms for Superheroes In Marvel Comics's "The Twelve", the Phantom Reporter refered to non-powered "Mystery Men" as "tourists" because they were in it for the look and fame more than anything else.
22. Re: Royalty Character The Countess in my FORCE OF NINE campaign that I use for GenCon (and this year at Origins since I'm out for GenCon) is a princess of the planet Krystalaan and third in line of succession. Although technically not royalty, Dreamwalker is a member of a planet's ruling counsil. Black Panther in the Avengers is the ruling monarch of Wakanda.

Super Names

Re: Super Names Here are The Shadowers. This group "shadows" the Force of Nine on the frontier of the Allied Worlds League. This is a planned playing group for GenCon. This is also a homage group. Bad Seed: A human plant controller looking for redemption. Bloodmoon: A native of the "Devil's World", a rogue planet with clans contiuouslly at war with one another. She gains superstrength at night and can be augmented under multiple moons. Firestarter: Verkanner's missing brother who has sworn to protect the legacy of an advanced race that has left the planet which is their base. He is a firebreather. Flechette: An alien from an agro-world who was kidnapped by the Icorians and turned into a living weapon cappable of firing adamantium quills. Vengence is her motivation. Icebreaker: A human mutant who must where advanced armour to keep his body at below freezing levels. Minder: An alien egoist whose eyes were torn out in order to rid her of her "curse" by her world's ignorant inhabitants. She is able to see through someone else's sight. She seeks justice. Obelisk: Firestarter's bodyguard and freind whose sense of duty is as strong as his rock-like strength. He is also the the team's second pilot. Spectragirl: A lonely human girl with an energy symbiot that creates a wide variety of energy blasts along the electro-magnetic spectrum. She is just looking for a place to belong.
