Re: The Last Word
The last word has little meaning, so instead, I shall have the BEST WordFnord
That is a very nice word. Hmmm, I'm wondering now...

Re: The Last Word
Who is going to get the 'last word'?Heck if I know, but I doubt it will be me.

Re: House Rule for Falling Damage?
Excellent point Crosshair. Falling to your death is not heroic at all. Of course, neither is getting killed at all, unless the hero chooses death to save someone else.I really only see this as a problem for characters who jump off of tall buildings because they know they'll survive, even though it's not realstic. If that happens alot, I'd just convert falling damage of over a certain height to Killing, regardless of the actual hight, the DC involved or the character's Defenses.
Heck. If they jump off like that, there's probably a spiked fence waiting for them.
If they jump off looking for awnings, etc to break their fall, that's ok.

Re: House Rule for Falling Damage?
CrosshairCollie answered it well enough. Though I like Champsguy little rule.
Heck, we made it less dangerous since we let breakfall work and just had the minuses from velocity (max -15 unless DI was involved)

Re: Balance issues
I've always gone for the 15d6 average, but that's just my games (and I tend to hover around 500 anyway...)

Re: Pirates versus Superheroes
Hey why is Bengal BANNED?He might need to reset his title. He was banned for a short bit. That can be found in NGD. Do a search on his posts

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
For some reason' date=' when I first read this, I saw it as "...enough lizards [b']in[/b] the typewriter..." and had an instant mental image of what the results of that would be...a smeared red-and-green platen...Well, accidents do happen.

"Dread lord, here is your soup!"
NS: Things overheard at the buffet.

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
That's right' date=' remember your place and be proud of it! Now I have to go and beat down Debra Winger... (now, like a few months ago, who would imagine I would ever be writing a sentence like that?)[/quote']You get enough lizards at the typewriter, it was bound to come up.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Nah, nothing to add, if you know "on some level," then I think you know.I know what you mean about "real to me". While it's disturbing that it was faked, I won't set aside what those personas stood for on a level that Fred can never take away.
Yea. I'm of the thought now, that no harm was truly intended. Though that doesn't mean no harm happened.

Re: The cranky thread
Y'know' date=' I'm [b']really[/b] glad you didn't choose the "Murder-Death-Kill" button...Love the button. I'd seen something similar years ago, but forgot about it. We used to make up some odd ones using various toolkits at one workplace.

Re: The cranky thread
And funny pictures! Don't forget the funny pictures!Hmm, you should be due for a rep boost soon.

Re: The cranky thread
I'm still cranky over a comment made that I responded to with more-than-mild profanity that probably helped get the thread locked. Hrmph. Some days it just don't pay to get out of bed.I don't blame you for being cranky. I keep having a rep for being level headed, but that's only because I tend to delete a lot of posts.
Though I think I was letting some of that show in a different thread.

Re: The cranky thread
I'm cranky the Rachel/Kara thread got closed. I thought there were interesting tangents and such along with the rehash. Oh well.Well, some of the tangents will find their way to other threads.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
I dunno' date=' I doubt that was it. I saw some people chafing at the bit to get it closed earlier. The fact Ben apparently had to go in and "scrub" the addresses means that he also may have decided to close it anyway.[/quote']He also tends to close stuff that people report. But it was about time. I had a few replies to write, but they had nothing to do with the original subject.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
I haven't slept much in the last week. I'd like to change that.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Aha! So you're another cheese-lover, eh? Yes, I believe it was in fact Windsor, though there isn't enough of the coating left to say for sure.Have you tried the Lighthouse blue brie? Simply amazing...
A lot of my cheese knowledge comes from books since I have to look up the various places. Can't say I've tried Lighthouse. There's one from Point Reyes that impressed me.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Fresno?Nope. It's 10 hours from Fresno. Best Friends in Kanab, UT
We'd be close to three cool national parks (well, more than that).

Re: Musings on Random Musings
marvelous aged blue cheddar from New Zealand (name escapes me at the moment) on wheat crackersWindsor Blue, Jubilee Blue, Blue Vein? Hmm, those are all creamy. I'm more familiar with the various Huntsmen cheeses that are Stilton & Chedder.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
My wife found a job that she feels she would be very good at. I agree with her, so I told her she should at least apply. She sent in an application with her references. One of the references telecomutes there. So she also has an inside track. The only downside is, the job is 7.5 hours from Phoenix, 3.5 from Las Vegas, and 6.5 from Salt Lake. And of course miles from the Ocean.
This would get me to get rid of a lot of materials that I could stand getting rid of. Plus a good opportunity.
The place is also looking for Computer people, but they're very much a windows shop.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
NOTE TO WORLD:only some maggots limit themselves to dead tissue. Others will do things that are "unpleasant" at best!
Well, some like their meat fresh as opposed to aged.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
I have this weird craving all of a sudden for a bag of gourmet potato chips from Cost Plus World Market, and a bottle of red wine, preferably Sonoita's wine of three blends (cabernet, merlot, and something else, I forget). And a block of some strong cheese, like gorgonzola. The gourmet snack food of champions.
I tend to go for Port, Stilton, and yummy bread.
