  1. Re: House Rule for Falling Damage?

Excellent point Crosshair. Falling to your death is not heroic at all. Of course, neither is getting killed at all, unless the hero chooses death to save someone else.

I really only see this as a problem for characters who jump off of tall buildings because they know they'll survive, even though it's not realstic. If that happens alot, I'd just convert falling damage of over a certain height to Killing, regardless of the actual hight, the DC involved or the character's Defenses.

Heck. If they jump off like that, there's probably a spiked fence waiting for them. :eg:

If they jump off looking for awnings, etc to break their fall, that's ok.

That's right' date=' remember your place and be proud of it! Now I have to go and beat down Debra Winger... (now, like a few months ago, who would imagine I would ever be writing a sentence like that?)[/quote']

You get enough lizards at the typewriter, it was bound to come up.

Nah, nothing to add, if you know "on some level," then I think you know. :)

I know what you mean about "real to me". While it's disturbing that it was faked, I won't set aside what those personas stood for on a level that Fred can never take away.

Yea. I'm of the thought now, that no harm was truly intended. Though that doesn't mean no harm happened.

    Y'know' date=' I'm [b']really[/b] glad you didn't choose the "Murder-Death-Kill" button...

Love the button. I'd seen something similar years ago, but forgot about it. We used to make up some odd ones using various toolkits at one workplace.

  5. Re: The cranky thread

I'm still cranky over a comment made that I responded to with more-than-mild profanity that probably helped get the thread locked. Hrmph. Some days it just don't pay to get out of bed.

I don't blame you for being cranky. I keep having a rep for being level headed, but that's only because I tend to delete a lot of posts.

Though I think I was letting some of that show in a different thread.

I dunno' date=' I doubt that was it. I saw some people chafing at the bit to get it closed earlier. The fact Ben apparently had to go in and "scrub" the addresses means that he also may have decided to close it anyway.[/quote']

He also tends to close stuff that people report. But it was about time. I had a few replies to write, but they had nothing to do with the original subject.

Aha! So you're another cheese-lover, eh? :) Yes, I believe it was in fact Windsor, though there isn't enough of the coating left to say for sure.

Have you tried the Lighthouse blue brie? Simply amazing...

A lot of my cheese knowledge comes from books since I have to look up the various places. Can't say I've tried Lighthouse. There's one from Point Reyes that impressed me.

  8. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

My wife found a job that she feels she would be very good at. I agree with her, so I told her she should at least apply. She sent in an application with her references. One of the references telecomutes there. So she also has an inside track. The only downside is, the job is 7.5 hours from Phoenix, 3.5 from Las Vegas, and 6.5 from Salt Lake. And of course miles from the Ocean.

This would get me to get rid of a lot of materials that I could stand getting rid of. Plus a good opportunity.

The place is also looking for Computer people, but they're very much a windows shop.

I have this weird craving all of a sudden for a bag of gourmet potato chips from Cost Plus World Market, and a bottle of red wine, preferably Sonoita's wine of three blends (cabernet, merlot, and something else, I forget). And a block of some strong cheese, like gorgonzola.

The gourmet snack food of champions.

I tend to go for Port, Stilton, and yummy bread.
