  1. While waiting on responses to sent resumes I have been getting a couple projects done.

Made a riser for the couch though need to make a pair of drawers for it and then got it in my head to make an extra stair for the loft.e lo

The loft is barely big enough for the mattress, so this make it possible for my wife to have a place to put books on her side of the bed.  Will probably make a nightstand sort of thing for her side.  At Ikea, found this doll house that will work for my side of the bed.

The homeowner's association sent me a "courtesy letter" reminding me that the beauty of our complex was compromised because someone could see the top of the lid of the trash bins in back of my pony wall in front of the house, and that it could result in fines if they're visible. My first thought was, "you've just noticed them now, after we've had our bins there for 15 years?"

You need shorter people in your neighborhood.  Perhaps kneecap the ones complaining?

My son has been summoned for jury duty as many times as I have (once).  Neither of us were seated.

This last time was the first time I'd ever got to the "interview" stage.  Only once before actually had to go to a court house.

  4. Back home for a week after driving out to Denver & Utah for a near three week road trip.  Next week I get to try out Jury duty perhaps.  It will be a first since I have only once had to wait in the Jury selection room when I was 19 and everytime since, I've been excused the day before, or had a business trip that wound up canceling it.

Immediately after, I'll be driving a friend's RV down to Kanab and flying back.

  5. It's been awhile since I've gone to a Con to run.  (Holy crap, 2008...)

Stuff I'm bringing to Genghis Con:

Couple totes of Lego for the Lego Hero game

Binder with characters and printouts of game materials

    Laptop and Wacom tablet

Camera gear  (Mainly because I'll be doing some photo stuff to and from)

    Dice

Debating if I'm bringing the gaming mat & picking up pens.  Lego will be the main focus in one game and the second game can use Lego for representation purposes.

Food of an easily snacked nature, water bottle, packs of Emergency, and the usual supply of vitamins.

Meh, groundhog-o-mancy is just another manifestation of East Coast bias.  If you live east or north of the boundary between Arkansas and Texas, you have groundhogs.  The rest of the country doesn't.

We should get crows to help out.  They'd probably work for peanut butter filled pretzels.

  7. Definitely a lot of stuff in the show is derived from comics and other shows as well.   I get the Spider-Man & Black Cat vibe along with a lot of the characters you can find in other sources.

Cheesy and formulaic, but done with love for the source it seems.

Pretty sure one of the powers that Ladybug & Cat Noir get from the Kwami is Hypnotic Disguise, just like Clark Kent and his glasses.

  8. Just wondering if anyone else has looked at this show.  (Currently season 1 is on Netflix)I'm only in around episode 8, but I'll have to say the supervillains monologues are quite entertaining.  Also the dangers of putting all your points into an OAF.

It's pretty fluffy and very anime influenced, but it's got some charm.

Heh, well my mother likes to tell me, that when she was a kid, her mother had to use a scrub-board.  Not sure what they'd eat there.

I used to use one for my socks while growing up.  Though the soap my grandmother made had a decent lye component, so that would probably cause worse internal issues than a tide pod.

This is of relevance to only a few people ... "seismic monitoring of a slow landslide" (where "slow" means it hasn't actually slid yet, but you can tell it's going to).  Not far from my folks' place (they are in no danger, but will be among those inconvenienced if the eventual slide blocks the roads passing through the Union Gap).  Chase any of the links on the linked page to see pics of the developing cracks near the top of the ridge.

I was more concerned for a bit since we're close to a couple Rattlesnake named landmarks, but that ridge is quite a ways from Fall City.  (Though I plan to be driving that route in February) Hopefully they can help those people out in the slide area.
