I liked Lois and Clark too. Was the first time I had seen someone do a Superman story where his parents were still alive. They were great and it meant almost none of his background was from tragedy. He was just a good guy.

Cinematic Ultron has been a polarizing villain for a lot of people. Some fans really wanted a cold, menacing, "robotic" Ultron more reminiscent of the comics. Despite that being a type of villain we've seen literally thousands of times before... and complained about in other Marvel movies. I'm one of those who likes the sarcastic, arrogant, childish Ultron from the movie. It's a fresh take that interested and entertained me more.

Prior to this post, was there really that much hyperbole against Anita? More to the point, was there more hyperbole about that woman than what countless others use to normally describe politicians and such that they don't like?

Following this post, there was certainly one comment that I think went too far. And I would generally agree that the post before this one was a bit over the top but calling that out while ignoring the instances when it creeps up everywhere else just because this instance targets Anita is I think a bit odd.

To be a bit more fair to Google here, we have a person who did something that I am sure every work place would disagree with and some place would have likely immediately fired her for. By creating a public chart of everyone's pay, she opens Google up to a world of troubles. First, she is going to inevitably inspire in-fighting among employees. No one, no matter what they say, can ignore how much their neighbor is earning. By having a blanket policy of not discussing these things, a workplace establishes a system wherein internal rivalries based on "how dare Jack / Jane make more than me!" don't happen.

Second, I know the employees wanted to send her a bonus using Google's policy, but their request to give her more money is not a binding agreement that Google must adhere to. They put in place that reward system to help encourage cooperation - but this person has created a spreadsheet that operates counter to the very spirit of that bonus system. And Google has every right and authority to not pass along bonus to an employee who is being troublesome.

Third, there is a security issue associated with creating a public access document that has every employee's name and salary (and good gosh knows what else) on it. Anyone with access could walk out the door the next day and post that on the web for all to see. Then what is supposed to be private information can easily become public. And it isn't just code for some new product, it is the private and personal information of each employee who was stupid enough to put it on that file.

Fourth, the only side of this story we have is the one from the disgruntled ex employee. Please excuse me if I don't take at face value anything she has to say on the matter. Lest there is some sort of hard proof to everything, is still just an angry ex employee telling stories about their former bosses. I have no proof, and neither do you if you are honest with yourself, of any wrong doing by Google in any way, including in terms of Gender and Racial biases in pay.

I agree that she is 'a miserable excuse for a human being' but I can't advocate violence towards her. Even hyperbolic violence demeans the basic assumption that she is a fraud. If I (or anybody) feels that threatened by her, then her assertions must have some merit. I don't believe that they do.
I can still believe that she is a disingenuous scumbag though.

Seven has been mostly a delight but I had some weird USB issues on a few machines an never really corrected them to my satisfaction...until last ngiht the "prep for 10" updates occur and my message that my keyboard's  (rather worthless) usb hub was not installed properly did not pop up and I didn't have to wait for 10 seconds for the keyboard to work.So huzzah.

I was a year to adopt windows 7 from Vista - which I didn't mind. Really I can't think of an OS that I haven't been able to get used to. And the upgrade is free, so I figured I'd take the plunge.

Funny, I saw him draw a weapon on two innocent young men after he had gone on a rampage of physically assualting other completely innocent young kids, including ripping on the hair of a young girl in a bikini.
I saw him overreact and draw a weapon on two boys who were concerned about the 15year old bikini clad friend who was crying out for her mother. Then the two other officers had to step in to remind him that while physically attacking innocent black kids might be okay, including bikini clad scared and confused 15 year old girls, drawing your weapon isn't. They then had to chase down the rightfully terrified boys because you never know what that lunatic might have done.

90s Japanese Pop-Rock was so amazing! Was that just the original show with Japanese subtitles? The artistry would imply so but there were strange edits to the intro sequences that seem to suggest they could have made other changes to the show.

Since I liked the lyrics, I thought I would do a quick transcription and translation of them for those who are interested.

From what I understand, only the opening (titles) and ending (credit) sequences of the Japanese broadcast of the X-Men cartoon actually differed from the United States' (and other countries, perhaps?) broadcast.

Plus, those mid-episode intermission sequences were inserted in.

The JPN introduction shows some inaccuracies that fans would pick up on, such as Magneto controlling The Brood and Nathan Grey/Cable being a part of the X-Men's main team. It is still a very slick union of animation and music, however.

I see. Well, you and I will have to fundamentally disagree on the "incendiary" nature of that comment. And we will have to disagree not because I would personally call them "occupiers" but because it is not a far out there comment given the situation in which we live. We have a group of individuals invested with legal power who are NOT representative of the communities they operate in, who have access to not only rather standard police equipment but high tech, high threat MILITARY weaponry and equipment, who regularly comment about the divide and disassociate between them and the communities they watch, who have a proven track record of disproportionate violence and brutality towards the locals, and who maintain a force solidarity that clouds them from communal feelings and compassion for those in their charge. To me, those are strong parallels to the ideas of an occupying force. And while there are differences, they similarities are far too strong to blatantly ignore. So, while I may not quite agree, I can easily see the references and understand why it inspires such beliefs. And calling out those who make the comparison which is all too obvious as being incendiary is to not understand the position the person is taking and shuts down debate. The original post is far tamer than a great deal of posts that I, The Rose, have posted on this thread for heaven's sake. I just avoided saying "occupying".

薔薇語 got a reaction from BlueCloud2k2 in Arena: General Discussion
Speaking of scheduling, I think it would be a bit of a mistake to try and match up the Arena Games to the Superdraft for a couple basic reasons: The Superdraft isn't really going to be taking long breaks anytime so we can't really fit a two month Arena in the middle of two other Superdraft events, and since these are suppose to be separate entities it makes sense to run them on their own schedules. While I personally enjoy the Arena quite a bit I only have a mild interest in the Superdrafts, which is why I haven't joined in on them until now.

To me I think the Arena games would be best served if they occur three times a year. We could have Season 2, 3, 4 this year, then seasons 5, 6, 7, next year and so on. That would mean we start up a season on say Jan first and run it until the end of Feb. Then take a two month break and start the next on May first and run for two months and then take a two month break, etc. This should keep things regular without becoming too frequent as to burn people out too quickly. Since we just finished up this season at the start of June. Why not just take June and July off. Then starting in August we do the draft. Mid August we start the regular season. And then in Mid September we start the finals and aim for a September conclusions. That would mean draft season 4 would start up at the tail end of November or start of December (and we take appropriate holiday breaks).
