  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

23 weeks of quotes of the week for our VTM Campaign and I now notice Our team is Waaaay behind on quotes. I gotta doa better job of writing them down!

New Vampire campaign begins on Oct 31st 2009. I am calling it Las Vegas Vampires II since we had a previous V: TM campaign also set in Las Vegas. As a bit of a background the last campaign dealt with a Sabbat infestation and takeover attempt of the Vegas Strip. This was foiled well by the actions of the previous players in a previous campaign.

    _______________________________Week 19______________________________

    “Runs Great, Smells like Mollusk….”-GM

My character having identified himself to his opponent as ‘Wang’ pushes his opponent down the stairs where upon the enemy vampires head collides with the metal safety railing ending his flight. After this nasty fight I feel cheated because now he is “Whangggg!” (the sound his head made striking the railing.)

  2. Re: Heroes for pay

there are the Industrial and Entertainment Divisions. So even if you don't want to use yours powers risking your life, you can make a living or at least some extra cash.

Zip Boy from The Specials movie had just this sort of a job. He was looking to get the main character into plastics work using his laser powers....

  3. Re: Anthropomorphic/Furry HERO Resources

It would be if you had to pay to see it. Fish is a professional musician who's familiar with copyright and "fair use" laws' date=' and made certain all Disney could do was admire his work and (possibly) fume.[/quote']

Did FIsh used to hang out At Brookhaven Community College? IF So I have met him.

  4. Re: The Inventor Skill

theoretically you can "reinvent the wheel" its just that it is generally easier to have someone else do the work, then stand on the shoulders of "giants that came before".

Probably the way it is written Inventing isn't nealy as universal as the character seems to think. Realistically Inventor is an add on skill to possibly a whole slew of skills (probably Mechanic, Ps: Flight technician, Ks: Flight Technology for "inventing" an improvement on a plane) Inventing should probably double the time and resources a project calls for at a minimum, though with programs at least "it will be done when it is done" is bog standard.

Inventor also means you have to make the base roll then the inventing roll so on a reasonable character that means twice the chances of failure.

  5. Re: Would you marry a near-human alien?

I'm estimating that their measurements will be about 38-26-38. Larger than modern women but not excessively so.

Sorry, I don't know of what land of pygmies you are from but I dont think of that as larger than my typical modern woman.

  6. Re: STAR HERO Reading List

    *warning pet Peeve*

    Home Owners Insurance.

The Original Star Hero Stated Hovercraft do not exist.

My Home Owners Insurance specifically states it Will Not Cover Hovercraft. If Allstate Insurance thinks Hovercraft exist to the point where they wont cover it in case of damage to a home then yes, Hovercraft really do exist.

  7. Re: How many character sheets is to many?

    Sheer mechanics? no background bs?

Ill top everyone else so far.

    1 150 point hero a mercenary unit captain/leader

3 50 point followers a 'priest' and his acolyte, plus a Mage (25 points cost to the main character)

1 DNPC follower for the mage (no cost to the main character)

4 30 point 'leaders' (16 points off of main character)

32 25 point followers (the rest of the unit) (35 points cost to the main character)

and because it was fantasy the other characters sheets were "only money"

    1 Base

    36 light warhorses

5 Wagons (1 for the spellcasters, 4 for the supplies)

10 oxen (for pulling the wagons)

    1 Ballista

    1 Catapult

A fan of the Earthdawn system took one look at the stack of paper I had and swore he would never run HERO.

    Sigh, good GM though.

    oops just remembered.

the spellcasters could summon 5 critters among them....

  8. Re: "Normals" gaining superpowers: how would they change in terms of mentality?

a few mundane uses of the listed powers:

Laser eyes: Laser writing/art. in addtion to never needing a writing utensil but being FASTER at drawing or being able to create those 3 dimensional images in plastics.

X-ray vision: finding cancers and hairline fractures before they get worse.

addiction to gambling would be the last thing that would happen with probability control. *bored voice* oh, look... I win, again.... *Yawn*

Invisibility: IMNSHO this is the same as uber stealth, frankly it isn't that great.

The weird thing about this list is that most of the powers technically wont allow you to collect the reward from the Amazing Randi for passing his test to prove there are psychic powers.

  9. Re: "Normals" gaining superpowers: how would they change in terms of mentality?

So a singing, dancing, Kung fu master 9.95 lb. computer/robot that can predict the stock market and all sporting events past present and future is perfectly ok?

Gold bricks? not very useful. The Govt is allready looking for these abuses. However going to the free gem mine in the U.S. and then paying taxes on your haul....

  10. Re: Sewage disposal in a fantasy world

    Basically to sum up

    you have three choices

    1. put it somewhere else:from a standard sewer transportation system all the way to paying beings to cart it away and get it to a usable compost location.

    2. have a crittter deal with it. from moss/plants/whatever that thrive on the stuff to draconic incinerators. (hmm perhaps the moss could have magical spell enhancing properties that mages would want to add to their spell components, thus the reason why there are so many dungeons and the mages stock them....)

    3. convert it to something useful. perhaps a magic spell of s**t into gold?

  11. Re: Herbs

Actually there is an old norse recipe that requires fermented deer pee to add to a brew for making berzerkers. 'Shrooms just aint got the kind of kick ya need for real berzerkers.
