  1. Late to the thread.... For Patreon, my pledge level would depend on what the content is. I am in a minority in that I play mainly Fantasy and Sci-Fi with some others thrown in. Almost everything but Champions. I would really love to see something like Champtions International, but for The Turakian Age. 16-32 page items released periodically going over the various countries, groups, other things (adventures) of that setting. But again, I know I am in the minority and there probably is not the fan base for it. I am going to have to look over Champions Begins to see what is there and I can move over to another genre. I sounds like a starter set and I am curious. Unfortunately, I still have not played Hero in almost a decade. Work, family, life has really limited my time. I have been running DND 5E modules. With our group spread across the country, Roll20 integration and DND Beyond make it easy to run. Some of those modules I even bought twice (1. To have the maps integrated into the Roll20 VTT and 2. for ease of organization in DNDBeyond). I still throw money at Hero every 6 to 12 months and buy things that would save me time (mainly modules/adventures and HD packs). Hmmm... It has been almost 10 months since I bought anything from the Hero Store. I need to go back through and look to see if there were any adventures/modules released in 2021. Definitely have to pick up some of the Hero Designer Vehicle Packs released last year. Saves me time if I ever get around to running Hero again. And yes, I even plan on buying the Western Hero "The Taming of Tascora" Adventure/Module. I figure that I can re-skin it if I ever want to run a Post-Apoc/Fallout/Morrow game. That is why I bought Western Hero... use it for low tech ideas if I ever want to run something in the South-West.
  2. Played it a bit ago. The change in the world could have been interesting, but we never got far into it. The game system changed too much from what it was. I cannot even remember what i hated.
  3. It has been a good decade or more since I have been to Dragonflight. I may try it. It will depend on how comfortable I am going out. Not really sure how they will be with any sort or distancing. May just go with what you said Spence... buy a ticket, not go, and eat the cost. Second.... that is the weekend of my wife's birthday. Will have to see. Good luck with running your games, Spence.
  4. Thanks Steve! Now I am going to have to go back and read the Turakian Age thread. Sheesh. Maybe even pull out the book or bring up the PDF and start going through it again. Been playing DND 5E lately because of the ease of support in Roll20 and Character Sheet integration. Anything to get me coming back to some HERO properties is welcome. Voted Tavrosel also. Probably for the wrong reasons. First the right reason.... From the description it would seem like a good place for a party to be from with different backgrounds and can have either land or sea beginning adventures. Aarn would probably be the most sensible choice for something like that. Now the probably wrong reasons.... Behind the scenes, not sure if it would easier or harder for Steve to write something with a “melange of cultures and religions”. The place can hopefully be a starting point on Steve working on a process for other towns/areas/countries. Other small city books can have the details of the cultures and religions. After the process is good, then try Aarn as it will (hopefully) be bigger than the others. Yes, I know that I am putting the cart before the horse. I have been spending all of my money lately on the various small or Zine Quest Kickstarter over the past month or so. Plan on using them for tools, tables, and/or ideas. Crap... looked back in email and realize it is 10 projects over the past month and a half. $5-$10 a project.... Anyway, I need to go look through the Hero Store and grab things from Fantasy and Sci-Fi sections that has come out in the past 9 months. I usually grab all of the fantasy item collections that Greg Elkins creates. Anyway, I rarely post.... and then I ramble. If this is for the Hero Store (like Champions International) or a Patreon (could have voting on the next item like Inkwell Ideas does it). I am in. Let me throw money at it. Good luck Steve. I hope that this is a type of project you can get behind and do. Especially since this is for Fantasy Hero (Turakian Age/Ambrethel).
  5. One of the many patreon/kickstarter projects I sponsored (Narosia, Extinction Event, etc) but did not get around to reading. The only other idea i have for sectional books to merge them in with what Spence and Hugh said.... drop in items. Mainly adventures. Can you have a series of small adventures with a map/graphic or two that can either be dropped into a current campaign or gathered into a campaign when you have 3-5 of them? Back in the day, I did buy Fantasy Hero Battlegrounds and used most of those adventures in my group's campaign.
  6. I think that one or more of these were mentioned earlier in this thread. I really like the idea of sectional books or the idea of a way to buy the collection (finished bundle). Various ideas for sectional books: Real and fictional equipment and vehicles. I realize that a lot of this is covered under the 6E Equipment guide, but was not sure if you could break them down by genre and/or intellectual property. Old/Low tech: High/Low Fantasy, Historical eras around the world Modern: Dark Champions, Champions, Danger International Future: Traveller/Terran Empire, Super Science, Alien Blended: Post-Apoc, Urban Fantasy/Supernatural, Anime, Pulp Hero Maybe split up and expand the 5E Vehicle Sourcebook. Geographic, (geo)political, social areas. Like the Champions International series coming out right now (assumption as I have not bought any of the series) Terran Empire races, worlds, continents. Valdorian Age city states Turakian Age countries (expand them) Historical empires Galactic Champions areas Pulp, Fantasy, Champions secret societies and organizations Steve's Mythic Hero line. Yes, I went there....
  7. Hi Simon, I apologize if this is somewhere on the site that I am not aware of. Are there release notes or a summary on what the latest update to Hero Designer covers? Don't need any real details, but would like to know of any changes to features and such. Norm. PS. Is there a way to watch the purchase page in the client area to be notified when you update Hero Designer?
  8. Sorry if this is rambling.... still in a little bit of shock and things are kind of raw right now. Saw this thread for the first time today.... after reading 3 pages, skipped to the end since it was 22 pages. Not even sure why I am writing this. Today, my family became one of the statistics. My 75 year old mother-in-law died this afternoon due to complication from the coronavirus (respiratory failure). She was very healthy for her age... only on thyroid medication.... no heart, blood pressure, cholesterol, nor any other 'old person' maintenance drugs. She had a slight fever for a couple of days and did not feel well. Went to the doctor on a Thursday, had a slight temp (~100) and a 98% oxygen level. Doctor thought it may have been an infection from deviated septum surgery a couple of weeks before and gave her some antibiotics. She went downhill fast over the weekend and went back to the doctor on Monday. She almost passed out at the doctor's office since she only had around a 60% oxygen level. Was taken to the ER by ambulance. The ICU rooms in the hospital were full and they had to call around to other hospitals to find a room for her. By Monday night, she was in critical condition and on a respirator. That was a little over a week ago. She was able to be put on an experimental drug study since she was so healthy and not on a lot of medication. It may have slowed some things down, but did not seem to help. Don't want to fan the flames or anything. Amazon is back-ordered a bit, but get an oximeter for yourself and your extended families. If exposed and not feeling well, it can at least give you another data point beside temperature and feeling like crap. Not sure if/when I will come back to this thread. Take care everyone and stay healthy
  9. The wayback machine failed me also. It did take me down a rabbit hole to see OLD versions of the site along with other people's sites I used to look at (Red October BBS, Dungeon Hero, Surbook's Stuff, etc). I forgot that Surbook's Stuff has been around as long as it has. Memory lane... man am I starting to feel old. https://web.archive.org/web/19980204044814/http://www.herogames.com/herogames/links.html https://web.archive.org/web/19980702070157/http://www.herogames.com/herogames/links.html https://web.archive.org/web/19981206215529/http://www.herogames.com/links.html
  10. Since no one responded to you in the forum, you can always try the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of most of the HERO Games website pages. That seems to be the standard answer for these types of questions. Good luck.
  11. YES! This is the organization that I threw at my gaming group after a couple of small adventures. Interrupting a kidnapping or two brought the party to the attention of the local group of the Red Talons. The party started to investigate some more and was getting an idea that this was a larger group than they thought. Suddenly DNCPs/contacts/family/friends were threatened/investigated/kidnapped by the Guild to distract them. Fun for all.
  12. It is like Lord Liaden said. It is a D&D 5E book. I was able to find it on Lulu. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/d3adventures huh.... searching around.... seemed to have found a HERO version on DriveThru https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/226923/Here-Be-Dragons-Hero
  13. The D3 version is 6E. I bought mine back in 2012. It has the 6E picture on the front cover. I was combing over the site and could not find it. It is strange, because I still see other 5E and 6E D3 items in the store. Interesting..... According to rpggeek, the Evil Beagle version was published in 2017 https://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/122280/here-be-dragons-hero But RPGNow (sue me, I am old) says it was last updated in December of 2016. Give me a minute to download it. It appears I purchased it sometime, somehow.
  14. Thank you for putting the Early Hero bundle out there. I am going to grab it for The Armory. I had the physical book and sold it a decade or so ago when I did a purge of a lot of my physical books. I have regretted it since. Do you know if you are going to be putting out the 4e era Hero as a bundle sometime? I see that Champions 4E was a bundle back in April 2017, but nothing for Fantasy Hero, Star Hero, etc.
  15. Both. Full write-ups in the first book that I am looking through. Equipment, profession templates, racial templates, etc. For example, the K'kree template has 61 points in abilities and -40 points in disadvantages. When I bought it, I did not realize that it was 5th edition. I did not know you could buy them in the Hero Store (under 5E Star Hero). https://www.herogames.com/forums/store/category/15-star-hero/ Still glad I bought the CDROM.
  16. Mainly I am tired of subscriptions. Don't mind some of them, but I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. $10/month for this.... $15/month for that.... Anyway, I finally went through the store and bought around $30 of supplements and adventures. Things that I would like to see.
  17. If you find something, please tell me. Right now, I can only think of a mix of things. 1. roll20 for the VTT. It has 3 'stats' (red, blue, green bars) that can be easily kept track of in the token. I figure Body, Stun, Endurance. I have not tried their built in character sheet. Only a free member. Not sure if possible. Willing to try alternatives. 2. Hero Combat Manager for the GM. Already bought. 3. A HTML export template for Hero Designer that can be loaded into a browser. It could look like a normal character sheet, but have enough javascript/HTML5 to roll all of the skills and most of the combat rolls for you. Something like some of the built in character sheets for PCGen (pathfinder/d&d character generator). I have not looked over the export template area nor do I have the expertise to create one. The only export templates I created are based off of others and are a freaking Frankenstein. They worked for us, but were ugly.
  18. I bought it a long time ago as you Tech and Duke mentioned above. I will buy almost anything not Pulp nor Champions. Everything in one CDROM... PDFs and HeroDesigner files. At least I still have a linux box that can read it. ? That and it has power armor (BattleDress) write-ups.
  19. It is funny..... I am pretty much the same way, but for Pulp/Champions/Super Hero games. I do not know what it is..... I can play it... even enjoy it if it is with the right people.... but will not seek out, nor buy super hero games. Which is funny as I love Hero. I love having a consolidated system. I never understood when people said that D&D/Pathfinder was easier than Hero. Have you seen all of the character options/feats/thinga-majigs in D&D/Pathfinder?!?! In High School I played Star Wars (West End Games), Cyberpunk, and others. It is the fact that I grew up during the "SATANIC PANIC!!!!" in corn and bean country that I never really played D&D until college. sheesh.... Maybe that is why I never burnt out on fantasy. After only two D&D games, I was introduced to Hero and never really looked back. When a game ended, our group talked about the next game. "What genre do you want to play today? Science fiction, fantasy, cyber-punk...." Same rules with minor tweaks/flavors. Great for a poor college student trying to pay his way without loans. When I moved to a different state, played 7th Sea for about 5 years. We had a GM that loved the system. He started running D&D, I bowed out and took a slight break from gaming. That GM moved away and I started to GM Hero. No one else stepped up. Ran Valdorian Age for 2 years then Turakian for 3. One of our players wanted to GM, but was afraid of running Hero without a canned adventure for some reason. But he still wanted fantasy... We were told that Pathfinder fixed a lot of D&D issues and it had better adventures/campaigns. Well.. we have been playing Rise of the Runelords for almost 5 years(!!!) and I am burnt out. We seem to look up and argue over the rules a lot. We are near the end and one of our other players wants to run 7th Sea 2E. I am curious how it will turn out. 2E seems more fluffy.... not sure I will like it, but willing to give it a shot. Which is funny.... I consider Pulp and Swashbuckler to be similar in feel. Man.... I cannot wait to return to Hero. Trying to come up with a Fallout/Morrow Project/Postman type of thing. I have some time as the 7th Sea game will be about 6 months. One of the reasons I am getting back on to the Hero forums.... Sorry for the long, winding, and morose post. Just trying to say that I understand how you can be not interested in a genre at all. I think it was you that said in another post that you are happy that discussions like this can happen on the forums without it degrading.
  20. Yes, it was part of a pack that was released by BlackWyrm when Star Hero 6E came out back in 2011. I did not realize it until I just looked... But they actually have the PDF version still in the Store. I was interested in some of them, so bought the books when they came out. https://www.herogames.com/forums/store/product/566-project-wyrmstar-seven-settings-for-star-hero-six-edition-pdf/ I love to reuse or get a starting point by begging, borrowing, or stealing ideas. One scientist's steam powered armor could easily be turned into some engineer's clockwork armor or some magician's metal golem. Seems like it is the only way I can get some things done now that I am married and have a kid. Great way to learn also.
  21. Thank you everyone for responding. For some reason the way that the armor pieces work in Fallout 4 power armor was giving me a bit of analysis paralysis. I have been perusing various Hero System based books for examples of power(ed) armor. Star Hero pointed me towards Hero System Equipment guide. Hero System Equipment Guide has some good write-ups of powered armor. Kazei 5 have powered armor and mechs sections. The Widening Gyre has some steam-powered armor. Hey... they have great descriptions.... who doesn't want a set of Death Badger armor!?!? And yes... I was one of the people that got the multi-book (6 I think) set from BlackWyrm when Star Hero 6E was released. I have also been looking around the files area for Hero Designer on this site. There are write-ups for Traveller and Warhammer 40K conversions. Speaking of Traveller, I bought the Traveller Hero CDROM from Far Future (http://farfuture.net/) a while ago. I need to crack that open and look through it. No matter what I do, I plan on writing it up in Hero Designer and uploading it. Thank you again for your time and help.
  22. I actually plan to (hopefully) write up two different versions of power armor. Fallout 4 and pre-Fallout 4. Fallout 4 will be most likely based off of vehicles. I am thinking that this will be a good way of limiting things while still have the wow factor. Pre-Fallout 4 will be written up as armor with stat and other power bonuses.
  23. Wow. I did not notice physical manifestation. That is really neat. I was going to ask a weird question on it (about OCV/DCV), but looked in the 6E Errata and then answer was there. You zero'ed in on my worry. While finding a good way to write it up, I do not want to bog down the gameplay with complex things or having to keep track of a large number of things. Definitely one of my front running thoughts on how to do this. Nice videos. I need to watch more of their videos. Besides being too complex, another worry I have is how it will translate into a group setting. Hopefully I have about 6 months or more before I have to run anything. By then Fallout 76 will be in strong swing and I will get to see how they handle a multiplayer aspect. Hopefully, that will transfer well to a RPG group. Those are nice and simple. I never thought of just buying extra body with limited locations/coverage. Hmmm.... Even though I played mostly Fantasy Hero, we never even considered using breakage rules. I will have to look at that. I wonder if Star Hero has something like that also, but dealing with more futuristic materials.
  24. I am trying to recreate some of the aspects of Power Armor in Fallout 4. Right now, it is the armor pieces (arms, legs, torso, head) that attach to the power armor frame. In the video game, the armor pieces have a defense and can soak up a certain amount of damage before becoming useless. I thought about just using Ablative, but that does not really simulate the idea that the armor can soak up a certain amount of damage and then fail. The closest thing that I can think of is using barrier as armor. Recovery of Body would be the act of the PCs repairing the armor with salvaged resources. Is it even possible to use barrier as armor (with the mobile advantage)? Instead of anchoring to the ground, maybe anchor it to the power armor frame? Basically... Barrier - 2 meters, 9 rPD, 9 rED, 25 Body, Opaque (Sight), Restricted Shape I also think it would be neat to have the resistant defenses lessen as it takes damage. maybe 3 layers of 3 rED/rPD, with 8 body. nah... too complex. Sound like ablative would be easier. Have base armor and then an ablative layer on top of it. Am I overthinking this? Any help would be appreciated. Norm.
