The thing is, "real time" isn't a good idea for someone who has internet as crappy as my friend's, one of the reasons why I want to do Play by Post, anyway, when I get around to actually starting a Hero System game.

Thanks, but I was thinking of doing it on one of said friend's forums. It may not be designed for use with HERO systems (nor that it's exclusively about roleplaying, anyway), but it may be more convinient for him and his friends if I want them to join.

The thing is, I don't have a budget to buy $30 dollars worth of products more than once.

I want to do a play by post game on a forums. The thing is, one of the people who may most likely want to join is dirt poor. (In fact, it's a miracle that he's even able to use internet, even if his internet access's crappy - sattelite based {and thus, high latency} and a complete inability to visit certain sites.) Is there a way with showing my PDF copies with him that doesn't require low latencies like many internet apps nowadays and not allowing him to keep said PDFs? (I'm not keen on piracy. Besides, for obvious reasons, I wouldn't ask about him keeping said PDFs on the forums of the company that sells them.)
